"Uh… I seem to have caught you at a wrong time. May be you can call me when you are free," Yimei's uncertain voice came through the phone.

Sam banged the phone against her head before replying hastily, "no, no… I thought it was someone else. This is a good time. What's up?"

Yimei seemed to be hesitate before speaking the next words, " can we meet and talk this evening?"

"Sure, would you like to come to the coffee shop near my office?" Sam asked her.

She held no grudges against Yimei or her mother. After all, they hadn't known and probably still didn't know Zhu Cheng's true nature. So she wouldn't hesitate in responding if either of them reached out to her.

"How much time can you take to come down and why was your phone busy just now?" Wei stood next to his car and asked Sam in an irritated voice.

"Look here, Prince Wei, I know you are the big boss and my saviour too. But do you have to be so bossy and that too first thing in the morning?" she grumbled.

"Prince Wei?" Wi looked at her in askance.

He cleared his throat consciously, "umm… I have a meeting with a new client and I thought that I could introduce you to him. If we get that contract, maybe you can work on it henceforth."

Samantha stopped midway in climbing onto the car. This man really had the ability to surprise her at every step. Was there no end to his thoughtfulness?

"How am I going to save my heart from him?" the thought sprang into her head but she hastily squashed it.

"No, no… I am just grateful. It's nothing else," she consoled herself quickly.

Nodding her head, she sat next to him.

"Oh, before I forget, Yimei just called me. She wants to meet this evening," she told him.

Wei frowned before saying, "you want me to come along?"

She shook her head with a smile.

"I think I can handle meeting my cousin without you coming with your dragon slaying sword. I was just wondering if she wants to meet voluntarily or is it being orchestrated by my dear brother in-law," she replied.

Wei looked at her and told her, "whatever it is, make sure that you keep your guard up at all times. Listen more and talk less. And I am just a call away in case you find anything amiss."

She nodded her head while her heart was busy fluttering away, ignoring all admonishments from its sensible counterpart, the head.

Later that evening

"Hi Yimei, you are looking radiant. How are you feeling?" Sam slid into the booth opposite her.
Yimei gave her a weak smile in return.

Fiddling with her cup of tea, she spoke after a few seconds, "I just wanted to apologise for what happened that evening. Mom told me about it yesterday. I am really sorry. Zhu Cheng should have been more careful before making any accusations."

Looking at her cousin's downcast eyes, Sam slid her hand towards her and patted her arm in comfort.

"Don't stress over it. The matter is sorted now. Let's move on from that," she said with a smile.

Yimei looked at her relaxed expression and gave a grateful smile in return. The girls chatted for a while before parting ways. Sam saw her off before hailing a taxi for herself.

Suddenly, someone tapped at her back.

She turned around to find her nemesis there. Quicky scanning the road, she was disappointed to see that Yimei's car had already sped off. Clutching her phone in her hand, she felt for the screen keypad.

"What are you doing here?" she asked Zhu Cheng in frosty tones.

"Well, I was curious to see what would you tell my wife about me. Guess what? You surprised me. I had thought that you wouldn't let such an opportunity go and bad mouth me to the hilt. But you were unwilling to even hear a single word against me. Am I to believe that somewhere inside your heart, you still carry a torch for me? Is it the unrequited love which is making you do all these things… may be to catch my attention?" he asked with a cocky smile playing on his lips.

Something snapped in Sam's head and without thinking of the consequences, she punched his unsuspecting face hard.

CRUNCH!

The fist had landed bam on his nose. There was an ugly sound of bone crushing and thick blood sprung out.

Looking shocked, Zhu Cheng whimpered as he held his nose.

Trying to stop the bleeding with his hands, he continued to look at her in disbelief.

In a thick nasal twang, he asked her furiously, "why the hell did you do that?"

Calmly wiping her hand across his shirt, she replied, "this is all that I want to do every time that I think of you or see you. Call it my version of 'unrequited love'. I hope you feel better soon. Bye."
