312 In full glory

Looking at each other in surprise, Jia Li got up nonetheless to open the door.

Straightening her dress, she peeped through the door eye to check.

Shrieking, she came back to the bed and said, "your entire family is here. How the hell did they manage to reach here so quickly? What happened to the guests in the party?"

She started buttoning up his shirt and pulling her hands through his hair as she uttered these words in panic. Finally satisfied with his looks, she drew in a breath and went to open the door.

Tang tried to catch her attention by waving but she didn't look at him in her hurry and the phone had been thrown off far from his reach.

She opened the door calmly, almost regally and said, "hello Uncle Xie, Aunt Xie. Many congratulations Chu and Ethan. I didn't expect to see you guys here, leaving your wedding function behind."

With that, she stepped back to let them come inside the room.

She failed to notice the looks which each one of them gave her, in her nervousness to appear normal.

"See Dad, I was telling you not to worry at all. In fact, going by Jia Li's appearance, it seems that everything is back on track, no? We can go back to my wedding peacefully now," Chu spoke the words with a wicked glee, as soon as she reached the centre of the room.

Jia Li looked at her in confusion before turning her questioning gaze towards Tang who lowered his eyes to point at her well exposed neck and the proud hickey which sat there in full glory.

"Uh…" she nearly collapsed in embarrassment.

Ethan came up to her and put his arm around her shoulder, giving her support.

"I heard that you crashed my wedding, and didn't even stay back for the cake. Isn't that a bit too mean?" he asked.

Turning to face him, she whispered primly, "I was invited."

Mr. Xie looked at his son intently. The only thing that he had been worried about during the journey to Jia Li's hotel, was his son's happiness. When he had first heard that Tang left the place with her, his thoughts had gone back to his son's strong negative reaction about her getting to know about his condition.

But judging by the looks on both their faces right now, it seemed as if he shouldn't have bothered about it. Maybe his son had been bewitched by her again or maybe he had been secretly hoping for this to happen sooner or later. One way or another, he was happy as long as Tang was happy.

"Erhm, I think you are right, Chu. We do have guests whom we need to attend to. I am assuming that the both of you would find your way to the reception which is scheduled to start in the next couple of hours. I can understand the excitement of seeing each other after long made you err, run away from the wedding. But you have to remember that the day belongs to Chu and…" he started in a severe tone.

"Okay, okay, they understand. There is no need to get into the 'I am the big boss here' mode. You need to remember that it doesn't work anymore on any of us," his wife rolled her eyes.

While everyone ducked their heads to hide their smiles, Mr. Xie gave his wife a black look.

Ignoring him completely, she stayed back for a minute while everyone filtered out of the room.

Taking Jia Li's hands into her own, she said, "welcome home, child. I have always believed that this is where you belong, next to my Tang. I know that you love him but in future, I hope that you will forgive him, tolerate him and help him as he finds his feet back. Patricia is already on her way here along with a change of clothes for him. Bring him to the party as soon as you can. Also, umm… maybe you want to wear a dress which can cover that uh…"

Jia Li blushed crimson as Tang's mother pointed towards the blasted love bite.

She bowed her head in agreement and saw her out.

Shutting the door, she came back and flopped on the bed, next to Tang.

"That was mortifying. I wanted to be swallowed up by the ground. Why the hell did you not drop me a hint when I was helping you look decent," she complained.

Tang wrote to her, "you were so intent on handling the matters by yourself that I thought you didn't need my help. So I let you run the show. It went well, don't you think? I personally believe that it was that beautiful mark which answered all their questions, slayed all their apprehensions in one go, without you having to utter a single word. You should be thanking me here, instead of scolding me."
