Jia Li read his words and got up to land a punch on his chin.
"So should we pick up from where we left?" his message pinged again with a few lascivious emoticons, while he rubbed his chin which had just received a blow.
"Sorry, we have run out of time. Before we go back to everyone, there are few things which you and I need to discuss and decide," she started on a serious tone.
Tang frowned at the sudden change in her countenance and his heart started to thump uncomfortably.
Jia Li got up from the bed and started rummaging through her suitcase for an appropriate high necked dress to be worn later. She was using it as an opportunity to sort her thougts before speaking up.
She straightened after a minute and said, "what do you want to do about the future, Tang? What are your plans and where do I feature in them? Actually, DO I feature in them?"
He gestured her to come near him. When she reached next to the bed side, he pulled her by the hand to bring her face next to his. Planting his lips on her forehead, he took her fingers and placed them on his immobile, left hand.
Typing with the other hand, he showed her the message, "will you help me get better?"
Jia Li looked at him in all seriousness and said, "promise me that you won't disappear again, no matter what happens in the future."
"Do you know that every night for the past many years I have only dreamt about you? Now, I want to live those dreams with you. I want to make babies with you, gorgeous little girls who would take after their mother in every possible way, except maybe the height," he wrote as a response.
She smiled at his words and sunk down on the carpeted floor.
"So what should we do first?" she asked him with a twinkle in her eye.
"I think you need to prepare for your role as a good sister in-law by getting ready for Chu's wedding," he wrote back.
Jia Li looked at him in resignation and shook her head. Getting up from the floor, she was about to move away when Tang showed her the phone.
"I wasn't finished writing to you yet. As a responsible husband to-be, I need to approve the dress which you choose, starting from the lingerie which you select for the function. So I suggest, you start by giving me demonstration of the various choices that you have in that category!" he had written.
She threw her head back and laughed. This was going to be one tiring afternoon!!!
Later that evening
"Well well, this is a small world, isn't it? Who would have known that things will turn out this way," Eric walked upto Jia Li, who was sitting next to Tang in the party.
Wearing a pistachio green, Victorian collared gown which covered the neck completely, and had sheer lace around the shoulders and sleeves, Jia Li looked ethereal. Hair pulled in a high bun, she hadn't needed any make up, especially post the 'rigorous modelling session' earlier in the day.
She smiled at Eric's words and introduced him to Tang, who frowned at him suspiciously.
Nudging him under the table, Jia Li tried to cover up for his unfriendliness by chatting gaily with Melissa, Eric's fiancée.
"Hui told me that you aren't flying back to London anytime soon," Eric turned towards her and spoke in a voice meant only for her ears.
She smiled and told him that she had asked for a brief sabbatical till she figured out her near future plans.
"But you have worked so hard to reach where you are today. Don't tell me you are thinking of letting it all go in a day," he sounded disappointed.
She touched his arm briefly and said, "I have been waiting for this for my entire life. The skills which I have developed over this period of time will stay with me and I WILL find a use for them. But the memories which I wish to create with this man, need me to be here and now."
Melissa interrupted as she saw her fiancé getting ready with another argument, "Eric briefly told me your love story this afternoon. I was really touched. When I met you yesterday, I had actually thought that you looked well matched with Ying Hui. But seeing you now, I can easily make out that this is something really special. I wish you all the luck."
Jia Li thanked her with warmth and the couple moved on to meet other guests.
"What the hell does she mean by well matched with Ying? How did she get that impression? I think it's that slimy cousin of Ethan who is responsible for such a rumour. Which reminds me, were you supposed to come yesterday for the pre-wedding dinner?" he wrote to her.
Hey lovelies, been reading some of the messages. I shall start to respond once the book gets wrapped up. So keep expecting replies popping up from my end, over the coming days. That's probably going to be my way of combating the sadness of not seeing daily comments from you guys anymore:((
