The hospital.
Sheng Yize stood outside a door with the biggest frown.
“Don’t worry. Pepsi will be alright.” A mild male voice came from behind him. Sheng Yize turned around and nodded at the person. “You’re here.”
“Yup.” Si Yan smiled, holding Si Bai by the hand. “So, how was that cover story I made up for you?”
Sheng Yize smiled wryly. “Many thanks.”
He didn’t want An Xiaxia to worry and had kept Pepsi’s condition from her. Today, he had excused himself and Pepsi by saying that he was taking Pepsi to see Si Bai.
Si Bai kept a straight face and looked sulky.
He had learned from his mother that the baby he had held the other day was indeed Pepsi.
Damn it! This uncle had tricked him!
He threw a dirty look at Sheng Yize, who arched his eyebrows, confused. “What’s wrong?”
“He’s… not angry at you, but at himself for getting the two faces mixed up,” Si Yan said knowingly.
Si Bai puffed out his cheeks and let go of Si Yan’s hand.
“I want to go home.”
Before he could say another word, Pepsi began to cry inside, which made everyone anxious.
“Don’t worry too much. Si Bai was born with hemolytic disease as well. With proper treatment, it’ll be cured soon,” said Si Yan mildly.
Sheng Yize sighed, rubbed his forehead, and didn’t say another word.
The crying stopped shortly after that. A couple of hours later, a doctor opened the door and came out. “It went well; we just need to keep her under observation in the hospital so as to prepare her for the next operation.”
Sheng Yize clenched his fists. That was to say, Pepsi would have to go through such a painful procedure again…
It felt like a fist was clenched around his heart.
Si Bai walked quietly into the ward, carried a stool to the bed, climbed onto it, and leaned over the bed to look at Pepsi.
Her cheeks were fair and soft. Si Bai poked her face a couple of times, then drew back his hand, recalling that she was in poor health.
“Hey.” He cleared his throat and commanded in a grownup manner, “Get well soon and grow up in good health!”
Grow up and become my wife.

Outside, Sheng Yize was having a hard time trying to find a way to keep this from An Xiaxia.
After much consideration, Si Yan came up with an idea: a business trip.
“Take her on a business trip with you and tell her that you’ve left the kids with their grandparents. That’ll buy you a few days.”
“I see.”
Sheng Yize called his assistant to let the latter arrange the trip. He then informed Grandma and Grandpa Sheng, asking them to bring Cola to the hospital and to watch over Pepsi.
He then drove back home, where An Xiaxia was watching TV, bored. Judging by the look on her face, her mind wasn’t on it at all.
Hearing the sound of the lock turning, she jumped to her feet. When she saw that Sheng Yize had come back alone, she was surprised. “Where’s Pepsi?”
“Oh, I’ve taken her to the old family home and asked Grandma and Grandpa to take her for a few days.”
“I’ll go check on her, then… My eyelid keeps twitching for some reason today and I’m so worried about Pepsi…” An Xiaxia said, pressing a hand to her chest.
Sheng Yize grabbed her arm immediately. “You can’t do that!”
Or everything would be blown!
“Why?” An Xiaxia was utterly confused.
“There are some problems with a Diguang contract which will affect profits for the next five years. You need to show up for this matter.”
An Xiaxia hesitated. “Must I go?”
“It’s really serious this time.” Sheng Yize cleared his throat. “I’m coming with you, and we’ll get it over with as soon as possible.”
“Are you… telling me the truth?”
