Malika.

9:00 pm.

Colpo d'amore restaurant.

Farah was sitting in their favorite table waiting patiently. The restaurant was owned by one of Malika's best friend. It was designed by Farah as her first project ever after she graduated. It was designed in mixture styles of bohemian Italian and Moroccan, which represented her friend ethnicity; half Italian and half Moroccan. As Farah took a deep breath, she looked at the restaurant door and saw Malika running toward her.

On her way to Farah, she called one of the waiters by his name and told him to get her usual coffee as fast as possible and ran faster to Farah. "Finally!" she said, looking at Malika who was breathing hard.

"Something happened to me!" Malika said and sat on the chair across from her. "I don't know exactly; I don't remember anything! and I'm totally freaking out." Malika was shaking her legs nervously.

"What do you mean?" Farah said, moving her chair closer to the table to hold Malika's shaking hand. Malika told Farah what happened after she left the office. "You're kidding, right?" Farah left Malika's hand and chuckled.

"I swear I'm not!"— Malika hit the table hard, Some people around them stopped talking and stared at her but looked away when Farah glared at them— "I don't know what happened, the crazy thing is; the maid told me that I never came home until 7:00 pm."

The waiter served Malika's coffee. "Yeah, you were at the hospital, you called me to meet you here." Farah looked at her with curious eyes. "You do drugs? Maybe you do…you sounded different when you called me." Farah looked directly at Malika's eyes without blinking.

"Really Farah… It's not a fucking joke." Malika took a sip of her coffee and looked away.

"It is a joke! Didn't you hear what you said?!"

"I told you I don't know what happened it was like my mind was turned off," Malika said and put the cup on the table.

"Mal, what happened was that you left my office heading to the hospital and you called me at 6:30 pm telling me—"

"—No! I didn't go to the hospital and I didn't call you, I don't remember any of this and I'm losing my mind." Malika noticed Farah trying not to laugh. "Shut up Farah!"

"I didn't say anything," Farah said, smirking. Malika took off the necklace and looked deeply at it. "What's up with that?" Farah asked.

"I don't know it has a weird vibe… what happened to me is related to this necklace somehow." Farah took it from her hand and looked at it, her relaxed face changed to a stable one as if she remembered something.

"I saw this necklace before."

"Really?!" Malika said shockingly.

"Yeah, it looks familiar… I guess I saw an actress have a similar one, but I—" Malika snatched the necklace from Farah's hand. "—I swear I saw it before!" Farah sounded like she was joking but she did saw the necklace before. She looked at Malika, but she was looking at the necklace unblinking.

"I don't forget things… I never do—"

"¬You don't remember any childhood memories together," Farah said deadpan.

"— I'm positive that someone sent them in the mail to me, someone from Seoul," Malika said, ignoring Farah's sarcasm.

"Seoul? Noah?"— Malika looked up as her hope raised a bit— "call him and ask," Farah said and put her phone next to Malika's hand. She took the phone and called Noah even though she also had a feeling that it had nothing to do with him.

"Noah, it's Malika," she said after he accepted the call. "Hey…did you mail me a box from Seoul?" Malika said and looked at the necklace again.

"What box?" he sounded surprised.

"A box was sent to me in the mail this morning from Seoul but with no information about the sender."

"I haven't been in Seoul for like four months and I'm positive I didn't send you anything," Noah answered.

Malika took a deep breath; she became more confused. Even though she felt that Noah had nothing to do with the box, her mind wished it was him to calm all the questions inside her head. They talked for about seven minutes and both ended the call with goodbyes after giving each other their phone numbers. "So not him?" Farah said after Malika gave her the phone back.

"No, something isn't right," Malika said, Farah waited for her to continue. She took a deep breath and asked, "Why this person would send me a bunch of papyruses and a gemstone necklace?"

"Perhaps it means something," Farah said. Malika couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing; she was pretty sure that her mind was blocking a memory from her. "I'm hungry, I'll order food, want anything?" Malika didn't reply; she kept staring at the necklace. "Mal? Okay, I will order for you."

Farah called the waiter and eyed his moving body from the far end of the restaurant until he noticed her. He nodded his head and walked toward her. As she put a polite smile on her face; something shiny caught her attention. It wasn't clear but for a long second, she thought she saw a set of eyes floating in the air looking deeply into her soul.

She was about to talk when suddenly the waiter appeared before her eyes forcing her to blink fast. She looked up at him, smiling again and then ordered two carbonara dishes and chicken Caesar salad. "So… what happened in Dubai?" Malika said, trying to get her mind to stop overthinking.

"Nothing happened," Farah said, smiling.
