After quarrelling with the system, I was not able to out talk it and the system convinced me that it is right. There are no good or evil techniques or paths in cultivation. They all lead to the same end.
There are, however, wrong techniques that will cause injuries and/or eventually prevent you from progressing on the path of cultivation. The system never spoke of an end to cultivation so I guess that it does not know or does not want to talk about it.
The system did agree that I am far too weak to go up against the immortal sects right now but the decision to learn and/or use the <Soul Capture> technique is in the end, still up to me. The rewards for granting wishes cannot be changed even if I do not wish to learn it or have any use for it.
I ultimately decide not to learn the <Soul Capture> technique for now since I might be tempted to use it as once I learn it, I will think of it as an option.
I will probably learn it when I get stronger as the system mentioned that all rewards are stored in the system and can be learnt anytime I want to.
Holding the manual in my hands, I decide to burn it as this technique is too powerful since even ordinary villagers could use the skill on a monster king. If the wrong person were to find it and learn this technique, there is no telling how much damage he can cause with it.

Soon the sun set and I returned to the house we occupied for dinner. I was still unsure of my decision but I was leaning towards returning back to the capital. I felt like everything has happened is way above my job scope, but that might just be a way of thinking that followed me from my past life where everyone would only do what was in their job scope. Another part of me wanted to run home and ask my father what I should do. Now that I think about it, I am still a young boy, aren't I? I would not be made fun of if I ran home crying to my father.
A tiny part of me wanted to go be a hero. I trained for years and received so many beat downs from my mother while learning how to fight, wouldn't it be pathetic if I ran home now? The tiger was clearly out of my league so that fight didn't count but we are dealing with bandits here! I should be able to obliterate them with one punch!
I'd make the air explode with each of my punches and then send the bad guy flying off into space! The village would honour me and build a statue of me and then I would become famous and the idol of people all over the empire!...but I'm still scared…What if I get stabbed?

At the dinner table, the atmosphere is solemn. Everyone just ate quietly and then once we finished our dinner, Judge Tang just said, "Decided?"
Everyone else nods their head and I just look at them blankly. It seems I am the only one who cannot reach a decision.
"Let's kill the bandits." Mo Di is the first one to vote.
"We think we should return." Zhuge Pang says while looking at Sima Di who nods in agreement.
"I want to try and save the survivors." Liu Kang says weakly.
"My spear is for protecting people. We know that the bandits abducted the villagers so we should at least try to save them." Zhao Keng says strongly.
"I agree. Our original plan was to take care of the bandits later but there is no harm in changing them to our priority now since they have committed such atrocities." Ding Sha sternly said.
Judge Tang then gave me a glance and said "We should return. There are too many weird occurrences."
Everyone then looked at me since it seems like it is my turn to state my decision. "I…We…we…" I start to stutter then Judge Cui interrupts me so that the pressure on me is removed and says "I think we should go look for the bandits. We can still retreat if they are stronger than expected."
Judge Cui's reasoning is actually logical and acceptable! Everyone was bent on saving the villagers and we had already decided to wipe out the bandits and requested enough guards to do so that we forgot we can still retreat if they are too strong! I guess it would somehow represent failure if we asked for reinforcement and failed to wipe the bandits out but with all the strange events surrounding the bandits, I doubt the governor's office would still consider our retreat a failure on our part.
"Let us go and scout out the bandit's camp first!" I say excitedly. My first hostage rescue mission!

The next day, we set out for the mountains in between Pu Zhang village and Pei She village. This weird plateau mountain separates the two villages and makes it extremely difficult to travel, so eventually, another village was formed. This new village is Yao Feng village but has promoted into a town. We were not worried about Yao Feng town because a town would have enough population to maintain its own militia and would be able to fend for itself.
We did not come across anyone or any animals on our journey towards the Plateau Mountains where we suspected that the bandits were staying and our journey was peaceful. This Plateau Mountains has a named and it's called the Zi Di Mountains. It basically means the straight and low mountain.
Everyone on this riding circuit was a professional except me and nobody complained about wanting to return. Everyone knew that the bandits might be well trained so we had to be more alert as veterans would have a habit of placing traps and signals around their camp just in case their enemies found them.
Once we got near Zi Di Mountains, as usual, it was Mo Di and Sima Di who scouted ahead. We did not find any formations but Mo Di found foot prints leading towards the mountains and we followed them.
Occasionally, he would stop when he felt like something was wrong and would sometimes find some traps that were used for hunting wild animals. As we followed the foot prints, soon we found a cave that was guarded by people.
There were two wooden towers that were about 2 stories high and 2 more guards standing next to the gated entrance. These people resembled an army troop. They even wore uniforms!
