"One or all, it doesn't matter to me," Big Bear said.
"One or all?" asked Jix the Fang.
"You can all attack together or one at a time. I don't care which you choose." clarified Big Bear.
The members of 'Devour all frowned as they looked at Big Bear. Who did this guy think he was? He was big and powerful, but did he know who he was fighting? The Captain alone could take this guy out without much effort they all thought.
"Arrogant," said Jix.
Big Bear looked at Jix as he stepped forward. You could say technically he walked forward, however, he gave more of a feeling of slithering forward. Jix took up his fighting position as he looked at Big Bear. Big Bear smiled briefly before taking on a serious face. Big Bear was confident, but he wasn't overconfident.
He watched all of the battles and knew 'Devour' members were the best fighters the Fiend army had. He knew his arrogant words would provoke the members of 'Devour.' Exactly what he wanted. He didn't really intend to fight them all at once.
It would be foolish to really pursue such a battle given their Captain's presence. Maybe if he weren't here Big Bear would really push taking them all on at the same time.
"Even Fiends have some honor," said Big Bear. First, he wanted to rile them up, and then he wanted to make fighting one on one a matter of pride. It seemed to work. Jix released a prideful smirk.
"Of course, we Fiends are the strongest warriors. We don't need tricks or overwhelming numbers to win. We just need determination," Jix said while arrogantly smiling at Big Bear.
Jix dashed forward to attack, but as soon as he was in range Big Bear blocked both of his blows with a wave of his hands and reached out with his extremely long reach. Grabbing Jix by the face Big Bear closed his fingers making an unbreakable grip. Next, he lifted Jix into the air and viciously slammed Jix into the ground. The powerful impact sent Jix's body into the ground more than six meters.
Big Bear let go of the Fiend as soon as he felt Jix's back making contact with the ground. The rest of the power from the initial slam carried Jix down the rest of the way. As this happened, Big Bear heard a shattering sound. Looking up he saw a few remaining pieces of a broken crystal falling to the ground from the Captain's chest armor.
It turned out the six strange gems on Captain Mobux's chest armor were actually the life crystals of his men. Even though one of his men was killed before his eyes, Mobux never changed his facial expression so it was hard to tell what he felt about his man being killed. Big Bear noticed a previously broken life crystal. It must have been the one belonging to the guy who fought the worm men.
"Next," said Big Bear.
The 'Devour' Team became incensed at the nearly instant death of their teammate. Tillo stepped forward next. He gave a big laugh and flexed his muscles as he presented himself as the next challenger.
"Hahaha, Jix was sloppy. You think you're strong? No one's stronger than me except for the Captain and the Great Fiend. Rest of you guys can only dream of strength like mine." Tillow taunted Big Bear. He really didn't see Big Bear as a threat.
"You think you're strong? You've never faced a real Bear Man before." Big Bear responded as he made cracking sounds with his fists.
"You're pretty confident. How 'bout this, let's see who's stronger. We'll fight using just our strength. We'll punch each other once and whoever survives is the strongest." Tillo continued to taunt Big Bear.
"Ok," said Big Bear.
The two warriors walked forward until they were within striking distance. Tillo shot out his fist hoping to destroy Big Bear before he could do anything. He was the first to land his punch. In fact, Big Bear hadn't even started to throw his punch. Tillo knew he won.
Unfortunately, things didn't work out so well for Tillo. His fist slammed into Big Bear's jaw, but the next thing everyone heard was the sounds of breaking bones. The bones in Tillo's fist turned into powder, and the stump dropped uselessly to his side. Tillo had a look of absolute terror and disbelief.
Big Bear sighed and brought his hand in front of Tillo's face. Placing his thumb over his middle finger, Big Bear flicked Tillo on the forehead. Tillo blew back and up in the air like a missile. Just as a Fiend Battle shuttle was about to open fire on Dragon Army forces, Tillo's body shot through it causing the entire ship to explode. The body continued flying through the sky until it was lost from view. "Did it go to outer space?" some wondered.
The tinkling of falling glass shards announced Tillo's life crystal shattering. Another member of 'Devour' was dead.
Taking a deep breath of air, Faxis, Pratto, and Veltar were scared. None of them wanted to step forward by themselves. Looking at each other and nodding, it was clear the three came to a decision. Immediately they attacked from three different directions. Faxis charged forward with a flurry of punches. He was the melee fighter.
Pratto flew into the air and immediately laid down suppressive fire on Big Bear. Acting as the mid-range combatant, Veltar stood a distance away sending his fists flying into the brawl. The surface area of his fists increased substantially as they flew towards Big Bear cutting off his avenues of escape. It was clear the trio worked together in the past.
"So, you finally decided to attack together," laughed Big Bear.
Throwing out several knives, Big Bear forced Faxis to dodge and end his melee attack. Lifting a shield and angling it, Big Bear was able to deflect one of Pratto's blasts towards Veltar. One blast hit Veltar in the chest. The chest pushed into his body. Anyone looking from the side would think someone punched Veltar in the chest and the fist forced its way out through his back.
The blast didn't tear through him, but it disrupted his attack. Big Bear hurled a large circular blade towards Veltar. Next, he took out a blaster and fired it at Pratto. hitting him in the shoulder. The last blast penetrated Pratto's armor! In the meantime, Veltar managed to barely dodge the circular blade while recovering from the friendly fire he just received.
Big Bear threw all of his weapons into his spatial ring and pulled out 'Star Shatterer' from his back. With a quick and smooth movement, Big Bear swung his over-sized sword towards Faxis who was once again drawing close to Big Bear.
The flat plane of the sword hit Faxis. The sword immediately killed all of Faxis' forward momentum in his upper body. His legs from the knees down kept moving forward not realizing they should stop. Flaxis' knees broke and his lower legs bent up into a U- shape until his toes touched the blade. Another crystal on Captain Modux's chest armor exploded.
Without even looking, Big Bear threw out half a dozen circular blades towards Veltar. Veltar had tried a sneak attack and set a fist flying towards the back of Big Bear's head. Grabbing the fist, Big Bear tugged on Veltar's arm thus jerking his body into position for the incoming blades. Veltar let out a painful shriek as another crystal on Captain Modux's chest armor splintered.
There was only one crystal left and it belonged to Pratto who had temporarily ceased his attack. He decided he was safe enough in the air. He had the spirit in his armor monitor for additional laser fire. He felt with the armor's spirit watching out for laser gun blasts, he would be able to dodge anything. Now, he wanted to study his opponent.
As he began his observation he noticed the blades that cut through Veltar were turning in the air and ascending, they were coming after him now! Pratto began releasing countermeasures and was steadily destroying all of the projectiles coming at him. Just as he was feeling good about his chances, the hair on his neck stood up as the armor's spirit began to pull the armor away. This caused Pratto to miss the last couple of blades flying at him.
Pratto's helmet indicated a direction for him to look in and as he did he saw a massive energy beam coming at him. His armor was desperately trying to flee from the laser beam with a diameter of a hundred meters. Pratto couldn't believe his eyes. He engaged his flying boots to the maximum as he attempted to flee.
However, when Pratto turned his face to look forward, in the direction he was fleeing, he saw Big Bear holding a silvery ball in his hand. Just as Pratto was trying to decide what to do, Big Bear threw the ball at Pratto. The ball whacked him in his face armor. Pratto was surprised. He assumed the ball would explode on contact or take off his head. Instead, the ball just knocked his head back a bit and started spreading out like a liquid.
Puzzled, at first, by the silvery liquid, Pratto started receiving alerts from his armor. The silvery liquid was infiltrating his armor and destroying it from the inside. Finally, the silvery metal finished eating the interior of Pratto's armor. Pratto fell from the sky, slamming into the ground as did the final life crystal on Mobux's chest armor.
Pratto was a really weak Fiend. He relied more on his incredible genius for creating deadly technology to turn himself into a flying fortress. When the fortress was breached by Big Bear's silvery ball, Pratto lost all of his protection. His fleshy body took the complete force of the explosive fall into his body. Pratto flattened within his armor.
Big Bear landed and stabbed his sword into the ground. Looking at Captain Mobux, he simply said, "One left."
