This kind of formation wasn't exactly strong and with the opponents' strength they wouldn't take long to break it. But coupled with a forest and Liang Meng's experience just a few moments were enough for her to mount many ambushes.

Last time she had seen them in that cave there were 12 Elders plus the Clan Head, but now there was 1 Elder missing, which meant that he had fallen in the cave. Meaning there were 12 opponents here, and the weakest among them was at the begining of Ki Stabilization Realm and the strongest was at least at the middle stage of Meridian Refining Realm. And that was not counting the rest that weren't any weaker.
With the resources Liang Chen had given her before she left and the last time they met it was enough for her to make a powerful formation that could kill them all, but she did not want to do that. It was meaningless. She had already seen the end of that path. And she had lost.
Her clan was powerful, very powerful. In the past they had even given birth to a Formation God, but due to an unforseen disaster they had lost much of their inheritance and resources.
But even so they were still strong. She was an incredible formation genius and even the ancestors thought so. She had even put her insights of formations in the clan inheritance, that proves how much of a genius she was in formations.
But now it was all meaningless. That was in the past, now she wants to approach formations with another approach. She now wants to develop and further improve these low class and middle class formations.
Formations were divided like cultivation levels: until the 4th level were Low Class, until 8th level were Middle Class, and above were High Class, Earthly Class and God Class.
So she wants to develop these formations that were next to 'useless' into something that could kill anyone. Ever since she hear Liang Chen say that everything is useless in front of the spear, her flames were ignited, so now she wants to make him say the opposite, to make him say that fornations were at the very least equal to his spear. She wouldn't accept anything below that.
Those illusions rushed forth, all of them used different techniques and some even used talismans. They thought there was just normal illusions attacking them, but they were wrong. After all there were still many formations and talismans in Liang Meng's arsenal.
They just ignored those ilusions, allowing the attacks to hit them, while looking for the real one. But that was just what Liang Meng wanted. While these formations were not enough to kill them, they could injure them and she could finish them off.

A sound of flesh being impaled followed by a scream sounded out. As soon as they looked they found one of the weaker elder was dead, with a spear right through his heart, followed by a retreating figure.
"ARGH!"
As soon as they wanted to give chase another scream sounded out and they noticed another elder was attacked, but this time it was a flame that had churned and exploded his internal organs.
"These ilusions are real! Everyone group up and find the formation as well as the real body! Look out for any sneak attacks!" screamed the Xi Clan Head as he destroyed a few illusions.
Hidden nearby Liang Meng was reflecting on the last exchange. If she had done things more efficiently she could have killed three of them. But the formations she thought couldn't be improved any further actualy were rather sluggish now, not being able to accompany her pace.
'So this is why my formations againts that bastard were not good enough. Even the most basic ones are not good enough yet, so how could the powerful ones be any better.'
She thought to herself as she busied herself to make a few arrangements to the new formations she was busy preparing.
Soon they found the illusion formation and it was destroyed. But another one followed after, but this one was more powerful and much more refined and hidden. Clearly Liang Meng was making changes and understanding her own faults better.
