Chapter 19 My father was the King

"I hope you keep your promise! Necromancer!” The female commander said to me.

"Please rest assured. I will keep my promise!"

"If you lie to us, then you’d better wash your neck and wait for my axe!” The dwarf glanced at me and said to his companion, “Let’s go! ”

I watched them leave and then turned back to my military camp. This was a war for myself. There was no need to involve the races on the entire continent.

"Seren, are you ready?"

"Yes, but I believe it was better to wait for a bit before we launching our final attack. That would be more certain to win…If we attacked now, we would have to bear big casualties…”

"I don't have time!" I replied softly. "And, I don't care about casualties!"

"Please give me some time to prepare, we have to hoard more boulders for the trebuchets..."

"Okay! But don't let me wait too long!"

The attack of the death army suddenly calmed down. But the defenders did not relax. They knew that was the calm before a heavier attack. When this calm ended, they would face an unprecedented violent offensive!

I stood behind the camp and waited quietly for the news.

A pale face appeared in front of me, it was the vampire messenger I sent over to negotiate with the city!

"How was it?" I asked. But I could tell the answer without his reply.

"They refused!" said the vampire. "They vowed to be loyal to their King and to fight till the last moment!”

"Oh, yes? "I said to myself. Since they replied so, I had no other choice. "Prepare the final attack! "I stood up. This should be the last day. The nightmare that has been entangling in me for years was finally coming to an end. The battle started at dawn. When I arrived at the front line, it was the first charge of the attack. I found my army was more powerful than I imaged. Vampires and corpse demons were all over the mountains, launching their magic.
The half-destroyed castle wall collapsed one by one under the attacks of magic and trebuchets. There was a huge gap in the center of the wall. The brigade of the skeletons swarmed to rush through this gap. Human swordsmen rushed down the wall, trying their best to stop this wave of assaults. But there were not enough of them. Their front lines were barely holding the attack of the skeletons.

At the moment, when the skeletons were about to get into the city, a dozen of fireballs were launched from the castle, exploding in between the fight. The defenders could no longer care for their companions’ lives for a last defense. Nobody knows what catastrophes would happen letting the skeletons into their city.

Seeing this desperate defense, I couldn’t help but to sneer. It was stupid for the humans not to care for the lives of their companions.

The next moment, the vampire mage fired more fireballs to the castle and the city. In a wave of smoke and flame, all the skeletons and defending human beings disappeared.

"Continue attacking!"

The second wave of ghoul and zombies rushed over to the gap. I noticed Seren had gathered more skeleton soldiers in the back when the first wave of skeletons being destroyed.

Defenders blocked the new attack with waves of arrows. But there were too few of them. The magic fireballs just now had vanished all skeleton soldiers as well as the human defenders at the castle. The death army swarmed in from all other places for a new attack. The humans couldn’t re-assemble enough force to reinforce this gap.

A golden dragon descended from the sky, filling the gap in the wall with its giant body. The fire from the dragon swallowed all the death arm in the front-line!

But this was the last dragon the humans had!

I summoned seven to eight corpse dragons from the key, running over to the already injured golden dragon. Corpse dragons were not able to fly. But I gave them the power to fly, making them even more flexible and faster flying than when they were live dragons. The golden dragon spurred out a fire. But the corpse dragons avoided it easily. The terrible scars on the golden dragon were from these corpse dragons I called out. I excavated the dragon corpses from the mountain ends and reawakened them. It was them that allowed me to fight with golden dragons that were in alliance with this country. Although the corpse dragons could no long spur out fire, they were more flexible, had higher power. With the overwhelming number of them, the golden dragons fell down one by one.

Although the corpse dragons lost their ability to breathe during their lifetime, but by their flexibility and terrible attack power and overwhelming number, the dragons fell one by one.

Although the corpse dragon kept slamming and cutting into the golden dragon with huge claws, the golden dragon didn’t fly away. Because it saw this gap on the wall was key to the collapse of the entire city. The death army kept rushing up, being burnt into ashes by the fire from the golden dragon.

"Give up! You have done your best, but now you can't save it all by yourself! Leave here!" I stood in front of the dragon and said to him.

"Not! I will keep my vows. My compatriots and I will sacrifice our lives to protect this country from enemies!”

"It's useless. It's just a vain sacrifice! With your wisdom, you must know that everything is irreparable!"

"Yes! I know, I also know your true identity and purpose, but... I still have to keep my vows!” The golden dragon looked at me with his remaining one eye. There was no fear, no anger, just…sympathy in his eyes! Its gaze made me uncomfortable!

"Keeping the promise is the honor of my family! I will not abandon this honor!"

"Fine! I will satisfy your last will!" I sent out a signal, and in just one moment, all the corpse dragons flying in the sky rushed down together, with their white bones outside their muscles shining the dawn sunlight!

I turned back and left. There came a spiritual command from Seren far away. The death army rushed up again! Behind me, there was the huge roar from the golden dragon. That was his last roar…

The flames rose up, and the city of Darak fell! Fallen! The death army matched into the city over the countless bodies, with flames rising in every corner. Cries, yells and screams echoed in over the city. Human soldiers were carrying out their last desperate resistance. But nothing could change the result. The horn of the trial was reverberating and the shadow of death covered the entire city! Some people were screaming in the fire. There were more of them resisting, with the hope of the reinforcement that had long been wiped out by me. In addition to the coalition of the dwarves and elves captured by me, another two armies had joined my death army, as the deceased!

The palace was also in flames. The clean marble stairs were now full of dead bodies and blood. I was standing on the stairs, stepping over those corpses.
This moment had finally arrived. My heart was beating excitedly and crazily, with my body shaking with the extreme joy of revenge! For so many years, after I knew the truth of everything, I had been looking forward to this moment, even as a Necromancer to greet this moment.

I had given orders to my men that they can kill anyone who resisted. But don't hurt women and children. I knew that my orders can be executed thoroughly. Because all the death soldiers must obey me unconditionally. I didn't want to launch such a war. They forced me into this! If they compromised in our negotiation earlier, they would not have to sacrifice so many lives!

All the obstacles in my way had been cleared by me. I can do what I want to do now!

I had waited too long for this moment!

King of Darak City was in the depth of the palace, with only few guards around him. King had realized the ending. He now sat on his throne, waiting for the destiny!

I walked through the fire and smoke, standing in front of him. Everyone could tell my Necromancer identity from the evil red light in my eye. The guards pulled out their swords, surrounded their King and pointed the tips of their swords on me!

When the king saw me, he stood up with his sword. I saw clearly the roaring anger in his eyes. This made me very happy!

"You evil Necromancer! Why did you attack my country…” He shouted. But the next moment, his expression turned into terror, because I cut off his words!

I took a deep bow and softly said.

"Long time no see... Dad... It’s me... your son, Sidola... The fire is really fierce... it’s hot... But I’ve climbed out of the fire to find you.
