Chapter 31 Chapter 31

"I hope you keep your promise, necromancer!" The commander demanded of me.

"Don't worry, I will keep my word!"

"If you lie to us, clean up your neck and wait for my ax!" The dwarf glanced at me and said to his companion, "let's go!"

I watched them leave as I turned back to my barracks. This was is my responsibility, and there is no need to involve all the races in the whole continent.

"Celon, are you ready?" I asked after taking a deep breath.

"Yes, but I think it's not the right time to launch a general attack. It's better to wait a little longer. This way, we are more likely to win. If we are to act now, we will suffer heavy causalities." He seriously persuaded me.

I then replied softly, "I have no time. And I don't care about casualties."

"Please give me a little more time to prepare. We need to stock up more stone bombs for the stone cart." He continued.

"All right, but don't let me wait too long."

The attacks from the army suddenly calmed down, but the defenders did not relax their vigilance. They knew that this was the calm before the storm. When the serene ends, they would be confronted with a fierce attack.

I stood in the back of the camp, quietly waiting for the signal.

A pale man appeared beside me. It was the vampire messenger I sent.

"How is it going?" I asked, though he did not answer I knew what his response would be.

"They refused." He paused a moment, and then continued, "They swear to be loyal to the king and resist until the last one falls."

"Uh, really? Since they have given such a reply, I have no other choice." I said to myself. "Prepare to attack!" I stood up and issued commands to my men. This should be the last day. The nightmare has that pestered me for years is finally coming to an end.

The battle started at dawn. It happened to be the first attack when I arrived at the front line. I figured that my army was more powerful than I thought. Vampires and necromancers were using magic everywhere. The scarred city wall of the past war collapsed under the attacks of both magic and stone catapults. There was a huge gap in the center of the wall. The skeleton soldiers of the brigade swarmed up and tried to rush into the city from the gap. The swordsmen of mankind rushed down from the wall, recklessly throwing their life on the line as they tried their best to stop this wave of attack, but their power was too weak. Under the offensive of the skeleton soldiers, their front troops were in danger immediately. The column assault of this superior force was hard to resist.

Seeing that the skeleton soldiers were about to break through the defense line and rush into the city. An unanticipated dozen of fireballs were hurled from the wall and exploded in the middle of the two sides in the scuffle. The garrison couldn't take care of their companions anymore. Everyone knew what would happen when the skeleton soldiers rushed into the city.

When I saw this scene, I broke into a sneer. "You're so stupid. Will I give mercy to your companions whom you do not care about?"

In the next moment, the vampire wizard hurled more fireballs at the city head where the scuffling took place. In the smoke and fire, the frontal skeletons soldiers and defending humans all vanished.

"Keep attacking!"

The second wave of ghouls and zombies rushed through the gap. I noticed that just when the first wave disappeared, Celon had gathered more skeletons soldiers in the rear.

The garrison used a wave of bows and arrows to fend them off, but they were not many. Although the magic attack just then wiped out all the skeletons, the troops of the city were almost all killed. The army launched an attack from all battlefronts simultaneously. They could not call enough troops to reinforce the gap that was about to be broken.

The golden dragon flew down from the sky, and its huge body filled the gap. Then, a burst of fire from the dragon swept to the enemy in front. However, this was their last dragon.

Seven or eight dragon corpses fell from the sky and rushed towards the scarred golden dragon. These corpse dragons could not fly. I gave them that power to fly in the sky, making them more flexible and faster than before I have resurrected them. The golden dragon spewed out more fire, but the undead dragons dodged the attacks nimbly. The horrific scars on the gold dragon's body were the masterpieces of the most terrible immortal creatures. I dug up the corpses of these dragons from the deep mountains, I had brought them back from the dead. I use them to fight against the golden dragon who is allied with this country. Although they lost their ability to spray fire, the golden dragon still fell short by their agility, strength and was overwhelmingly outnumbered.

These corpse dragons constantly poured down and used their huge claws inflicted scars to the body of the golden dragon, but it refused to run away. It knew that this gap was the only key to destroy the whole city. The army rushed on, letting the dragon's fire burn them in batches.

"No more resistance! You've done your best, but now there's no way for you to save the city . You'd better get out of here now." I stood in front of the dragon as I spoke to it.

"No! I will stay true to my vows. My countrymen and I will use our lives to protect this our land from all foreign enemies."

"It's no use. It's just a useless sacrifice. With your wisdom, you must know that everything is irreversible."

"Yes, I know. I also know your true identity and purpose. however, I must keep my promise, and I will." It stared at me with the rest of its might. There was no fear or anger in its eyes, only sympathy. It made me feel very uncomfortable.

"It's my honor to keep our promise. I will not abandon this honor."

"Well, then I will help you." I made a signal. In a moment, the corpse dragons flying in the sky swooped down together. Their white bones, exposed from the outside of their muscles, reflected the sunlight of the dawn.

I turned around and left, sending a spiritual command to Celon in the distance. Then the army rushed up again. Behind me came a huge roar from the dragon, which was his last words.

The fire was still burning as Dallas fell. The immortal army rushed into the city trampling on the countless enemy and our own kind as well. The flames rose to every corner. Cries and screams echoed in every part of the city. The soldiers of human beings were making a desperate resistance in the last moment, but there was nothing to turn around this war. The horn of judgment echoed, a shadow of death shrouded the whole city. A lot of people were crying and throwing themselves into the fire, but more people were fighting only to be waiting for the reinforcements that I had already destroyed. In addition to the dwarfs and elves captured by me, the other two military forces had joined my immortal army as the dead.

The palace was also in the fire. The pristine marble steps were now full of dead bodies and blood. I stood on the steps and walked up slowly after stepping on one corpse after another.

This moment had finally come. My heart beat crazily, and my body trembled from the joy of revenge. For so many years, when I had come to know the truth, I had been looking forward to this moment, even as a necromancer.

I had given orders to my subordinates. They could kill anyone who resisted but couldn't hurt women and children who were unfit to retaliate. I knew that my orders could be carried out without question because all the immortal creatures awakened by me must obey my commands unconditionally. I didn't want to start such a war, but they had forced me to. If they abided me in the beginning, they would not have shed so much blood.

All the obstacles along the way had now been cleared by me. Now I could do what I wanted. I had been waiting for this moment for so long.

The king of Dallas was trenched within the deepest part of the palace, and there were only a few bodyguards around him. The king was sitting on his throne, waiting for what should come.

I stepped over the fire and smoke, appearing in front of him. Everyone judged my identity from my red eyes. The guards pulled out their swords, barricading the king as they pointed their swords towards me. When the king saw me, he stood up with a sword in his hand. I saw clearly that there was a fire in his eyes, which made me feel very happy.

"You evil necromancer! Why are you attacking my country?" He roared, but his expression turned full of fear in the next second as I interrupted him.

I made a deep bow and spoke in the most tender and gentle voice. "Long time no see! Father, it's me, your son Siddora. That fire was extremely fierce. It was so hot, but I've crawled out of the fire to find you.
