Early morning, I saw the newspaper left by father and in the front page was a picture of me from last night holding up my number and they inserted a picture of the necklace beside me. The whole narrative is of how I did not pay much attention to the other items as I was waiting for the 300 carat diamond necklace to gift my mother. It was written beautifully like a drama. It was even extended up to the next page with mother's picture as she holds the box containing the jewelry. They even went to quote what she said, "I admire my daughter and that goes without saying."

The internet was more ridiculous as I saw many news portals had written their versions. But one thing remained; the necklace and my mom.

As for the others who also participated and won the bid they were only mentioned in passing.

I smirked thinking that someone must be dying of jealousy right now.

It was no wonder that I received much gazes and attention as I went to work. There were even staffs that were over friendly. I had to pinch myself and check if I was dreaming.

"Good morning Ms. Lin!"

"Hello, Ms. Lin!"

They all said as I went past them. They've been acting like I was the latest trend.

Today I also heard a different gossip with me.

"Hey, have you seen the news? The world of the rich is unique."

"Not only the news, I've even watched the live coverage."

"Man, that amount was insane. She could've just donated it to me and I'll be her slave for the rest of my life."

"True. Even the jewelry was awesome. I wish I was her mom."

"Then you would've been Mrs. Lin. Ke ke."

In all corners of the office, this was the most topics. I've finally gotten over the 'unworthy of the job' title to a more normal one:' the daughter'.

There was not even someone who made it difficult for me today. Our meeting went smoothly and our proposals were approved. I wish I had more of this kind of days.

When I went home I was still over the cloud thinking this was so good to be true as I realize how powerful words are. The live coverage clearly showed how I participated in half of the auction yet because of what the media had written I became the lovely and thoughtful daughter donating huge amount and gifting a one of a kind necklace to my mother.

I returned to my room and opened my laptop to check my stocks. Since I wanted to have insurance in case something happens, I concluded I need to establish my worth. I had an on hand experience yesterday on how money works. It helps and destroys. If I continue to be passive then I'll be the one on the losing end.

I opened again her diary to read and memorize it at heart.

The days continued as normal. The hype died down after the media reported exclusive news that a top tier actress committed suicide. The story of the lovely daughter was immediately forgotten but the necklace and mother stayed relevant.

So much hate. They could've at least included me. I haven't thoroughly enjoyed the fame.

I closed my laptop as I gently rub my temples.

One day Cindy invited me out for lunch. I wanted to make up an excuse but she was already downstairs waiting for me. I could only begrudgingly go out with her.

If you look at her, you could see her resemblance with Jade. Both are beautiful but I guess it all comes down to youth and technique. This lady doesn't deserve to be treated like that by her husband and sister.

"I know I'm pretty but please stop staring and eat your food." She said as pick up her pork tenderloin.

"Spare me goddess, You're like a celebrity. I think I may want to get your autograph" I said trying to ride on her statement.

"What a sweet mouth. It's really your parent's fortune to have you as their child." She said sighing.

'I hope so'.

I took it as a compliment and said, "Aren't you also lucky with your children?"

"If only they were as obedient as you." She said sipping on her juice.

I chewed on my pork as I decided not to comment.

"Anyway, I'm glad that you came with me today. I was honestly bored back there when I was hospitalized abroad." She said as she began recalling the events back there.

'And it started again?' I said in my mind as I mentally prepared myself for an hour-long chat.

"There was really no sign?" I asked. She was walking going to a furniture store when she accidentally fell down a reportedly unmarked manhole.

"None. But I honestly believe that I wouldn't have fallen if that man on his bike went over slowly." She said blaming the random guy who went past her.

"I see," I said as I tasted the arugula salad.

"The guy was pedaling fast and he steered to my side when the road was wide so I had no choice but to make way for him. Who would've thought that while my eyes were on him I already had taken a dip?"

Recalling my memories from the summer vacation and of what I heard from Lily and Jade's conversation, I was reminded of how Jade instigated Lily to create an opportunity for her and Mr. Wang.

Are my thoughts going too far?

Jade had been acting like the good sister but in truth, she's no less than a snake.

But what does it have to do with me? If I poke my nose into their affair then what will change?

I'll hold those pictures for now especially if our hotel's reputation will be implicated. I still have a good relationship with mother after all and I just hope that it won't change for the worse.

Cindy finally lets go of me when it was seven in the evening. We went for lunch but stayed there until dinner time. My head was already in pain as she wouldn't stop talking. I was saved by a call; it was Liam telling her that he'll be home for dinner with his girlfriend. And so Aunt unwillingly shut her mouth and bid me goodbye.
