After a few days, Heather told me the result of her investigations. The said man was named Sumac Lau, a father of three, and it was true that he died. After being hospitalized for many days, his body deteriorated and breathed his last. She told me not to continue my line of thought anymore and that she's thankful I was doing this out of concern for them, but the truth was already laid before us and I should just forget about it. She said not to trust the drunken man's confession, and they never had any encounter with the police for an inspector to pry into their affair.

Naturally, all I could do was agree, but that didn't mean that I would stop my own investigations. "Okay, I'll forget about it."

"That's for the best, Iris. But I'll say my thanks again. Thank you for caring- it honestly warms my heart."

"You're welcome. Did you hear any news from the doctor? How's Aster's condition?" Although I could visit Aster at any given time, I still wanted to ask.

"The same as yesterday. His vitals are okay but still unconscious." She frowned.

I wanted to say, 'Don't be sad. He'll wake up' but I know it was just lip service. How many times have they heard that since Aster's hospitalization?

"Well, being stable is better. By the way, how did you find out about the taxi driver?"

"Oh, that… Unlike you, I employed a true private investigator and had him look for it."

'So there was a 'true' private investigator?' I thought.

Heather looked at my face and let out a sigh. "You must be thinking why did I called him 'genuine'? Simple, they have their own agency, Iris. And they were permitted to operate their business, unlike that shady guy you randomly found on the web."

"You already knew someone before?" I asked with no affirmation of my carelessness.

"Not me, it was dad. Now, don't look at me like that, I didn't tell him what we talked about nor of our plan. My father didn't even know I paid them to investigate someone. I just remembered that once, Dad had employed him, and so I went home to look for the business card." She briefly explained.

"Your father employed him before for what?"

She shrugged and said, "I don't know, must be something related to our business."

I nodded and didn't ask her further.

During the past few days, my investments grew and my income doubled. It was exhilarating as it was my first time owning such a large amount of money.

The odd –job guy finally had interesting results. Firstly, the inspector, though third in rank, still has some control over those who were under him. It was also revealed that he was middle-school classmates with Indigo Pan, the ex-husband of Ms. Violet Mao. Secondly, he did not meet with the two mentioned above, but rather with their daughter, Lilac Mao. They met a day after Aster's accident.

[Dearest client, I've exhausted all my resources just to get that information so please pay me a bit better.]

I responded by paying him the normal amount that we've long agreed.

[Hey, you kid. You don't even know how to keep your employees happy? You need to give bonuses every now and then otherwise you won't be respected.]

My face darkened a few shades. Since when was I the employer? He even called me 'dearest client' before!

[Fine. Let me tell you right now that I'll be busy the next few weeks so don't go asking for my help again.]

I didn't even ask him for help. I paid him for his work. In the end, I could only add a three-digit amount and send it to him.

[I'll keep one slot open for you. Message me when you need something.]

The guy was really inconsistent. His only unchanging nature was his greed for money. I asked him to find me someone who can open and re-investigate a case. It would be better if that someone was a high ranking officer and was in opposition to the inspector.

We met on my day off. The odd-job guy really had a baby. The little guy was put in a baby carrier strapped to the front of his father's chest.

"Hello?" I carefully called out.

The guy turned and smiled, "Oh~ there you are. Come, my friend is already waiting."

"Uh, Mister aren't you mistaking me for someone else?" I asked a little wary.

"Aren't you 'Hearmesay'? You've got that hearing aid on you which is a perfect description of your username."

He got it correct. I did not bother thinking of using beautiful names when I logged into his page. "You're right."

"I am indeed." He said pointing his chin up. "The name's Yucca and this little fellow's Willow. Follow me."

I followed him into an old restaurant and approached a guy his age that sat on the seat the furthest back.

"Old Rhus." Yucca greeted the guy and sat beside him.

"You dare let me wait when you're the one who need my help? And don't call me old when I'm only a year older than you."

I sat down quietly opposite them and observed their behavior.

"What can I do when it was the client that's late?" Yucca answered him. Rhus then turned his attention to me.

He eyed me for a while before telling his friend, "Are you kidding me?"

"No, no, why would I?" he said in denial, "Oi, you explain it to him."

I had already ordered my drink and was sipping on it when he turned to me. I was stunned at first then gently put my glass down.

"Hi, I'm indeed the client. I am not sure what to call you, sir, but let me cut to the chase, I am here to get your help to reopen a case. I'll pay any amount you need just make sure you do it fast."

Both of them looked at each other before facing me again.

"Miss, I don't know what you're thinking but I'm not like this guy here" he pointed at Yucca, "I am but a simple man who works as a 1st class inspector and has a deep feud with the subject. Yes, this guy already briefed me on the specifics."

"You're making me seem like a bug of society. What's wrong with making money? I at least don't beg." Yucca justified his way of life. "Oi, oi, oi, don't eat it, Willow." He said as he removed the table napkin from the little guy's hand.

That guy has a point.

The one named Rhus only waved his hand and then spoke with me, "I can have my men reinvestigate and open the case, but we need two days and also, I need any relatives of the victim to visit the precinct within a few days. I don't care even if it only takes a second, but we need evidence that they visited the place so we can make up the story that they wanted it reopened."

"I'll handle it," I told him. I can always have Heather accompany me.

He then told me his whole plan which I agreed to. I didn't even need to spend money on them as they will pass it as a formal investigation. Even until the end, I did not understand where their feud started, but I could guarantee that they'll help me with my case.
