David's mother looked at her son confusedly and asked in an uncertain voice, "I don't really understand you, son. What do you mean?"

"And I think you understand it perfectly well. Question number one: Did you answer the call instead of me?"

The woman froze and did not know whether to tell the truth or not. There was no point anymore. She perfectly knew her son's acumen, therefore Madame Anderson gathered all her courage and decided to say everything as it was.

"Yes, I answered your phone when you were in the shower. Some girl called."

"And what did you tell her?" David asked calmly, but his intonation made it difficult for a woman to even breathe.

"I asked her not to bother you," the woman replied quietly and shuddered with fear when David thumped his fist against the wall, after hearing her words.

The young man shot a grin at his mother, tilted his head slightly and asked with a sarcastic smile, "I guess my phone was not lost by accident either, right?"

The woman could not utter a word in reply.

David raised his head and exhaled slowly to somehow contain the wave of anger that was coming out of him, "Haaaa, I think it doesn't make a sense to ask who is behind all this."

The young man fell silent for a moment, and then laughed out loud. But his laughter was full of sorrow and disappointment, "Damn, what an idiot I must have been, to have been fooled so easily!"

David shook his head, surprised at his own stupidity, turned around and went into his room. Five minutes later, he went down with a suitcase and headed for the exit.

Dina, seeing her son with his stuff, immediately jumped up and blocked his way, "No! I won't let you go!"

David looked at his mother with an icy look. "I have no desire to talk to you now. Therefore, please step aside and do not bother me, ma-ma," the young man said coldly, especially emphasizing the last word.

A woman's heart sank with pain. "David, son, listen. I know what I did was wrong. But I had no choice! Daniel said that if you do not leave America urgently, you will die! He saw it with his own eyes!

You know how strong he is. Even the royal family treats him with great respect. Well, how could I not listen to him and sit with folded hands when your life is in such danger?!"

Tears came out in the eyes of the woman. She was about to cry out loud.

David took his mother's hand and freed his sleeve, which she was holding tightly. "He saw the future with his own eyes, you are saying? And I... I saw the past. And, believe me, this is more than enough for me to decide what I should do," the young man replied and took a step forward.

But the woman did not give up and again clung to him with a death grip. "That's what I am saying! Everything is already in the past! Let go of it and stop torturing yourself! My heart breaks in pain, watching what you are doing with your life!"

"This is my own business, and this does not concern you!" David yelled in response, torn by anger and indignation.

"How does this not concern me, David?! We are a family! Is it really so hard to trust your family? Stop wearing ball and chain alone, all by yourself!" The woman yelled back. They raised the topic that they always tried to avoid.

"Family, you are saying? That is the fact that you arranged all the things with Daniel behind my back and wanted to interfere with my plans, which I had been preparing for so many years, do you think THAT IS THE FAMILY'S SUPPORT?!" David asked, and a big grievance and pain from the past experience had pierced his heart like a fresh wound.

He leaned toward his mother and whispered with a wicked smile on his face, "And if Daniel once sees that you have to sell me somewhere, will you do it, just like they did? Just think, I will make an excellent sample for the experiments, huh, Madame Anderson?"

Slap!

The young man's cheek was red. His mother was looking at him with tears in her eyes and squeezing her hand from the pain she felt after the slap she had just done.

"Never, never in your life, do not you dare say this, you got me?" She said quietly and calmly. "You are my son. And I am also doing what I think is right. Do you agree with it or not."

The young man said nothing in response and went to the exit. Standing at the door, he said, "I will send a message when I land." And closed the door behind him.

The woman fell on the sofa, as if without strength, and cried bitterly.

. . .

The young man was walking confidently through the airport building when suddenly his attention was attracted by the news that was being broadcasted on television in the central hall.

"Dear viewers, we are now at the Grand Hilton Hotel, where a solemn event is currently held on the occasion of the engagement of Elena Lee, the daughter of the head of Lee Pharmaceuticals, and Rick Stein, the head of the Berne Group.

Many important guests have gathered here, but our lovers are certainly the most noticeable among all. Just see how beautiful Miss Lee is today! ..."

David watched Elena's smiling face on the television screen, and joy and pain filled his heart. The joy that he could see how beautiful she was. And the pain because he saw another man near her.

He took out his phone and made a call.

. . .

Greenline Inc Head Quarters.

The elevator doors opened, and David headed straight toward his office. Lily, seeing her boss, immediately jumped up. On her face, joy and fear were mingling with each other.

"Mr. Anderson, you are back! How glad I am! Mr. Anderson, I...," the girl did not have time to report on everything that was in his absence, as David immediately interrupted her.

"Where is he?" the young man asked sternly.

The secretary, immediately realizing who he was talking about, answered him with a breaking voice, "You-your brother is now in your office, sir."

"Got it. Do not let anyone in. I advise you to put on headphones and listen to music for the next ten minutes," David said, and something ominous flashed in his eyes.

The girl froze and decided that for her own good, it is better to do as the boss said. She took the headphones from the phone out of the bag and turned on her favorite playlist.

David entered the office and locked the door.

Ten minutes later, he came out, straightening his coat and slightly disheveled hair. Thrusting a black folder under his arm, he picked up a paper napkin from Lily's desk and wiped drops of blood from his palm.

The girl was looking at her boss perplexedly all this time.

"Lily…"

"Y-yes, sir?"

"Mr. Daniel Anderson is not feeling well. Please call an ambulance for him."

David threw the bloody napkin in the trash can and went to the elevator.

"Hello? Taxi to the Grand Hilton Hotel, please," was the last thing a girl heard before the elevator doors closed.
