In the previous fights, Xiao Ning mainly concentrated on her support role of trapping the enemies.

Although she was already a half-step sage and had fought against demonic beasts by herself, fighting against an initial Earth stage Sage realm cultivator was a different thing altogether.

Qai waited for a reply but apparently got nothing as Xiao Ning's mind was obviously elsewhere. He looked deeply into her face as if trying to wake her up from long slumber.

"Ah," Xiao Ning suddenly uttered after she saw that Qai was looking at her.

In truth, Xiao Ning was actually imagining what to do as she couldn't figure out how to win against the bandit head on—that is why she got lost in her thoughts.

Qai noticed her slight hesitation and sighed. He knew that his big brother Shu Wu specifically picked Xiao Ning to accompany him to give her the opportunity to be exposed in challenging fights.

"Here's what you could do..," Qai said as he got close to her and whispered something.

Xiao Ning's face suddenly brightened up and realized that what Qai told her was familiar.

It was actually Qai's own cunning style of fight which was actually more on series of moves that could make the opponent unable to retaliate. The style was not about a powerful one-hit kill kind of attack but a combination of tactical attacks.

Xiao Ning smiled and finally agreed to have a one-on-one match with the bandit.

"Alright," she said. "Let's do it."

Xiao Ning did not equip any movement skill so Qai explained that she have to make use of the speed War Horse she was mounting to gain the advantage.

"The sun is about to rise..," Qai reminded. "We have to hurry."

Xiaon Ning agreed and after few more briefing, the two finally went their separate ways and lurked in the woods to prepare for their sneak attacks.

**************

Meanwhile, the Han Valley chief and her companions were rushing towards a specific location.

"Chief..," one of her companions called, "..where are we specifically going?"

"To the river," Chief Xing Yi determinedly answered.

"Eh."

'I have a hunch that those bastards are there,' the chief thought.

The chief brought only few companions witj her for two reasons: firstly, she was not certain whether the boss was in that specific place, and secondly, should the boss and the leaders turned out to be truly there, the chief wouldn't want to make too much noise and get discovered fast.

"That river must mean something for the bandits to place a mark on it," the chief explained his companions.

Her trusted companions were aware of the previous report of the Mo Clan team about the river so they were not surprised by the sudden decision of the Han Valley chief.

"We have to be careful though not to be overconfident..," Chief Xing Yi quickly added. "I have a feeling that the river is too important for them.. so expect the bandits to be resilient this time."

***************

Xiao Ning positioned herself several meters behind the patrolling bandit but close enough to be hit by her attacks.

She rubbed the War Horse's head as if telling to get ready.

And without further delay, Xiao Ning activated her 'Burgeon' from behind the bandit which instantly trapped his movements.

The bandit was obviously caught by surprise—he then took out his sword and attempted to cut the vines clamping on to his legs but suddenly a demonic beast appeared from behind.

It was the War Horse unleashing its 'Stomp' skill. But what shocked the bandit was that another skill was heading his way—it was Xiao Ning's first skill, 'Palm Strike.'

'Wadoooom.'

'Booooom.'

"Arrrrghhh."

From the bandits view when he turned around, he only saw the demonic beast. He didn't immediately realize the cultivator mounting the War Horse.

Xiao Ning then odered the War Horse to gallop fast away from the bandit—but as the beast went it way, Xiao Ning released a strike from her throwing knives.

That series of attacks really did damage the sage bandit a lot although they did not kill him.

However, Xiao Ning's mount was quick to het away so much so that when the bandit turned to retaliate, Xiao Ning was already too far.

The bandit refused to give up and chased His opponent—but Xiao Ning was quick to activate once more her 'Burgeon.'

"Hah," the bandit sarcastically yelled. "You think I'm falling on the same trick twice!?"

Instead of trying to cut the vines, the bandit waited for Xiao Ning to approach and attack. However, to the bandit's surprise, it was not the case.

All of a sudden a huge carnivorous plant appeared from his side—the plant made use of thick gluey goo trapping him once more, and worse, attempted to suck his energy dry.

"What!?"

The skill was called 'Drosera.' It was a rare class Expert grade skill for cultivators with Wood Elemental affinity. Although not too fatal, the skill was enough to hurt its target by a lot.

Xiao Ning waited for the carnivorous plant to lose its activation before she unleashed another 'Burgeon.' And only then did she approached and once again attacked with her 'Palm Strike.'

'Boooom.'

"Ah."
