The 'spirit stones' in the hands of the bandits flew as well and got scattered around the ground.

The two other bandits, meanwhile, were dumbfounded by the turn of events and could not react fast with their legs soaked in the river and hands stuffed with 'spirit stones.'

"Eh."

Unfortunately for the two bandits, before they could even make their move, the Han Valley cultivators already took that instance as an opportunity to land a quick strike on them as well.

'Baaaam.'

'Boooom.'

Thereafter, the Han Valley chief summoned her aura and activated her 'Burgeon' skill which trapped the boss—obviously not wanting to give the bandit boss an edge.

Qai who was concentratedly watching from the other side of the river was itching to take advantage from the chaos of the opportunity to attack as well. He was prevented, however, by the thought that it was better to be patient and find the perfect chance to help the Han Valley side.

Apparently, he did not want to expose himself early to the point of risking his own safety. While he himself is in the sage realm, the companions of both the Han Valley chief and bandit boss were all in the sky stages—which is a full stage higher than his level.

At any rate, Qai took out his Darkwood Composite Bow just the same and readied himself by simply aiming his bow without actually attacking.

The 'Burgeon' skill, meanwhile, released by the Han Valley chief was not able to restrain the bandit boss as he evidently regained himself from the surprise assault by forming earth walls around him that effectively deflected the chief's subsequent attacks.

The bandit boss then quickly fought back with his own offensive skills—to which the chief effectively blocked with her 'Wooden Pillars.'

As the name suggested, the 'Wooden Pillar' is a rare class defensive skill for Wood Element that brings forth a tall vertical shaft from the ground which was made from strong wood that can easily deflect an attack. And as the cultivator with such skills gets stronger, the number of pillars he can eventually produce would double or triple or so on depending on his level.

The fight between the two leaders were so massive that the surrounding area was starting to get destroyed.

And Qai himself was a witness to the battle—each of the skills one of them activated were neutralized by the other. 'Wood Beams' versus 'Elemental Wall,' 'Rockslide versus 'Wooden Pillars.'

'Wabooom.'

'Baaam,' 'baaam,' 'baaam.'

No one between the two was getting the upper hand as both of them wisely equipped themselves with both offensive and defensive skills.

****************

"I hope the chief is alright," a Han Valley elder suddenly said with a deep sigh while seated in a corner together with some of the elders.

Most of the cultivators at the base were happily busy with the easy victory against the bandit group. Although there were casualties, the extermination could be said to be a success.

And more importantly, the expected weeklong event turned out to be only few days.

"Should we check on them?" One of the elders replied with a worry.

Many instantly voiced their contrasting opinions. Some felt the need to follow to ascertain the success of the entire bandit extermination event but the Mo Clan elder who was also present was intent on believing in the capability of the head of Han Valley.

"You, of all people, should trust your chief," said the Mo Clan elder.

The elders felt embarrassed at the front of Elder Long.

Indeed, the elders were the immediate comrades of the Han Valley leader and so they were expected to be of one mind when it comes to the decisions of the head.

***************

From the looks of it, the only advantage the Han Valley chief was able to gain was perhaps her trapping 'Burgeon' skill that occasionally gave her enough amount of time to inflict some slight injury.

The deadlock situation, nonetheless, did not last long as the bandit boss finally revealed a trump card, to the surprise of not only the chief but of everyone who saw it, when the bandit boss activated another skill called 'Dripstone.'

The skill was a rare class sage grade skill for Earth elemental affinity cultivator that could make long pointed piece of rocks rise up from the ground—they were so sharp that they almost looked like stalagmites.

It obviously stunned the Han Valley chief as she slightly got caught by one of the pointed rocks and injured her left arm.

"Chief," one her companions exclaimed as he kept his two opponents busy.

And what frightened the Han Valley cultivators more was the scene that the bandit boss was rushing towards the chief with a whacking sword strike.

The two other Han Valley cultivators left their foes and sped their way to protect the chief but they appeared to be too late.

'Swooosh,' 'swooosh,' 'swooosh.'

'Baaam,' 'baaam,' 'baaam.'

"Arrghh."

'Swooosh,' 'swooosh,' 'swooosh,' 'swooosh.'

'Baaam,' 'baaam,' 'baaam,' 'baaam.'

"Eh."
