"Being the overlord of this area, I was just 'curious' how would the Han Valley take action about it," the Purple Mist Sect Master said with a slight grin.

Emperor Void was, in truth, only trying to show a generous attitude as he did indeed come to demand the Han Valley chief to modify its regular tribute into 'spirit stones'—but since the Han Valley people had already initiated it themselves then it saved the emperor the trouble of somehow milking them.

The Purple Mist Sect would obviously not let the discovery of the mining site pass especially when it was found within its jurisdiction without the sect getting anything from it.

On the other hand, all the elders present who were actually holding their breaths when the emperor explained his visit, suddenly had relaxed faces.

"However..," the Sect Master quickly went on, "since you asked for the sect's help, and as you said, you're willing to compensate for it, I would gladly accept your proposal."

The Sect Master, then, made it evident that he was delighted with the proposal as the sect would, from there onwards, earn a portion from the regular harvest.

The Han Valley chief, in response, was about to say her gratitude but the emperor continued with his words.

"This matter is of utmost importance," the Sect Master said, "so I will send sect elders at once to place the formation you requested."

The statement made the Han Valley elders almost leap from their seats in joy. They did not know how to react in front of the Emperor Void—all they could do was show a face of gratitude.

From the point of view of Han Valley people, what exactly happened was that the they had an easy way of dealing things. First, instead of having to concern themselves of going to the sect, the Sect Master himself came to see them; and second, instead of having the hard time negotiating with the Sect Master, the emperor agreed to their terms without qualms.

"If that is the case," the chief embarrassingly replied, "we will have to trouble the sect then."

"Ha ha.. not exactly..," the Emperor Void replied with a chuckle, "..it actually looks like fortune is landing straight onto our laps.. so it's also a win situation for us.."

The Han Valley elders were obviously in oblivion with how the way things turned out. They never expected that the Purple Mist Sect would agree easily.

"Anyway," the Sect Master suddenly said, "if you'll excuse us, I have some words for my young 'friend' here.

He said it domineeringly as if he meant for the rest of the cultivators present to leave the room.

The Han Valley chief and elders understood the intentions of the emperor at once—so they all immediately left the room.

'What a lucky brat,' many of the elders thought.

Indeed, in the cultivation world, having a powerful backing could also be considered strength. As a matter of fact, many would take advantage of such to brag and bully the weak.

And although Qai would have a different point of view on the matter, many envied him in his current relationship with the Emperor Void.

***************

"Young friend," the Sect Master said upon exit of the Han Valley group.

Qai simply looked with a slight smile obviously waiting for the emperor to continue.

"I don't want to beat around the bush," the emperor quickly said, "so let me get straight to the point.."

The Sect Master's tone began to become serious so Qai was kind of hesitant to speak.

"How would you like to see the world?" The Emperor Void asked.

"Eh."

Qai did not know what to answer as he felt that the emperor's question was quite unexpected.

"Ha ha," the Sect Master chuckled. "I bet you haven't gone outside the Stonecrest region."

Actually, the farthest Qai had ever gone from 'The Hunters' Plateau' was Jiang City. So, Qai—embarrassing as it may seem—could not but agree with the emperor's statement.

"The world is vast my 'friend'," the Sect Master added with a slight tap on Qai's shoulder.

Qai was still in a state where he could not surmise what the Sect Master was trying to say so he simply kept on looking intently at the emperor's face.

"In a year from now..," the Sect Master went on, "..the sect will join the perennial gathering of all the sects in the continent."

"Eh."

"The gathering will feature a tournament among our best young disciples," the Emperor Void quickly described.

"Why are you telling me this?" Qai politely asked.

"Ahem," the emperor muttered. "I am not asking you to represent the Purple Mist Sect.. I am simply inviting you, as a 'friend,' to join us in our travel so you may see what it is like outside this region.. and perhaps.."

The Sect Master paused and looked deeply into Qai's eyes.

"Perhaps," the emperor continued, "it will broaden your horizon.. and you might probably realize how are we just a frog in the well after all."

"Eh."

"Young 'friend'," the Sect Master said, "you have already gotten stronger from when I first met you.. to the point that you could dictate the tempo of a fight.."

The Emperor Void took a deep breath before he continued.

"There are only few cultivators who could do the same thing," he said, "and they are called the geniuses of this world."
