The Shu family was originally composed of hunters whose head was content of living as such for probably the rest of his life until Qai initiated to make some radical changes.

So Qai simply scratched his head upon listening to the patriarch about the clear distinction between a clan and a sect.

'Heirloom!?' Qai thought to himself.

The Shu family's desire to start a clan can be traced in only around five years of history which clearly made the family without any special heirloom as of yet.

Aside from that fact, it would really have to start from recruiting cultivators since its core family was obviously small—although, in a sense, many of the great clans of today may have probably done the same thing in the past.

'I guess we're still far from being officially recognized as a clan,' Qai said to himself.

'The Hunters' Plateau' was not necessarily special.

There were also other organizations recognized as 'clans' but with somewhat unique trait like the 'Black Shadow Clan' which was actually an assassin guild or the 'Blade Masters Clan' which was basically like a mercenary group.

As of current, 'The Hunters' Plateau' were recognized more by many as some sort of cultivation organization like the two rather than a cultivation family but that was clearly understandable—and that was why the Purple Mist Sect Master named them as such.

"Aside from that..," the Mo Clan patriarch described with a proud look in his eyes. "..once you become part of the circle of recognized sects, not only you get a share from the region's resources, you also get a share of influence and power."

Conventionally, the sects in a region may be classified into minor sect, major sect and great sect. And that there could be several minor and major sects but there could only be one great sect in the region.

In the Stonecrest region's case, it was the Purple Mist Sect.

As already known, the great sect stood as the overlord of the region while the minor and major sects only possessed in part some kind of authority which basically comprised of bragging rights and influence.

And in the cultivation world, if a major sect wanted to challenge the seat of the great sect of a region, then the major sect would have to topple the great sect in terms of strength—which was normally done through life-and-death battles between top disciples.

And that explains why previously, the Purple Mist Sect could not give much attention to the conflict between the Han Valley and bandits—firstly, such occurrence was deemed petty and trivial in the eyes of a great sect; and secondly, there were too much to focus on for a great sect since a great sect was regularly challenged by a major sect.

"I guess the Mo Clan is trying to aim bigger than I thought," Qai openly but awkwardly remarked.

The patriarch did not take offense with Qai's words—as a matter of fact, the Mo Clan head found it smart and tried to carefully explain his intentions.

"It's still too far for the Mo Clan to belong to the major sects and be given the opportunity to challenge the great sect of the region..," Patriarch Mo Chen explained.

The patriarch made a glimpse to his granddaughter with obvious expression of satisfaction.

"We're just trying to make small steps towards that goal," he added.

In the eyes if the Purple Mist Sect, the Mo Clan could probably be just a 'trash' in terms of total battle power but the patriarch was not actually looking at present but towards the future with Mo Shui and Lin Qiao at the helm. Those two, in the eyes of the patriarch were comparable to the geniuses of a great sect.

"By the way..," Shu Liang suddenly joined the discussion who was also in amazement listening to new informations, "..what would you call your sect should you officially become one?"

The Mo Clan patriarch looked intently at his guests and threw a slight smile. And without further hesitation, he gave his answer.

"Frozen Sword Sect."

"Ah."

The choice was obvious.

The Mo Clan patriarch and some of the clan's heir like Mo Shui share the same Ice elemental attribute and not to mention that many of their preferred weapons were mostly long sword.

Qai's eyes evidently brightened upon hearing patriarch's answer and his mind started to imagine things as he was mesmerized by the patriarch's goals.

'Should we stick with our identity as 'hunters'!?' He said to himself.

The patriarch saw Qai's expression and he understood that the young cultivator was no longer with them so he simply smiled.

'Maybe we could be called 'Mounted Hunters Clan' or something one day!?' Qai interestingly thought.

"Ho ho," the Patriarch Mo Chen chuckled, "maybe I should leave you young ones from here.. you should all go to your rooms and get some rest."

"Ah."

Qai shook his head and felt embarrassed.

"I heard you're going to an auction tomorrow..," the Mo Clan patriarch said with a smile, "you should see to it that you won't miss the last item."
