"Ice element!?"

Shu Wei was roused from his closed door cultivation by his eldest son, Shu Wu, with the great news.

It was about Shen.

He just turned seven and had finally awoken his elemental affinity.

The news spread quickly in the entire plateau and Shen was eventually mobbed by the rest of the members of Shu family.

"That's great," Elder 'Fatty' Lu remarked with his eyes glowing from excitement.

'What a great find,' he said to himself, 'that kid sure has luck on his side.'

He was of course referring to Qai who was the one originally recruited Shen in the family's fold.

"You may suspend learning your first skill and think carefully about it," Elder 'Fatty' Lu suddenly suggested, "so you won't regret it in the future."

"Little Shen," Shu Wei said with a smile, "I suggest you take a look at the Mo Clan's 'princess's' skills."

"Ah."

The family head was clearly talking about Mo Shui and that was why the rest of the family quickly reacted with excitement and obvious envy at the same time just at the mere thought of Shen growing strong with such rare element.

Shen himself had heard of her though he did not personally know the Mo Clan's genius heir.

He looked proudly at Yuan with evidently competitive eyes as if trying to prove his seniority over the other.

"Hmp," Yuan awkwardly said in front of the entire Shu family. "Just you wait til I awaken myself.. you'll surely be in for the surprise of your life."

The rest of the family candidly laughed at the sight of the two young outer disciples trying to best each other out.

"That's one healthy competition you got there young ones," Elder Yu suddenly said with a big grin.

He then paused and looked at the youngest member of the family—Shu Kongxu who was only four and about to turn five at the time.

"You two be better ready at the real genius of the family," Old Yu quickly added with crystal eyes as if trying to make a strong prediction.

The elder's remarks even made the gathering filled with laughters.

**************

The grandson of the Shu family who shyly stood beside his mother Qinlun was expected to join the children who were to be recruited in a year's time.

He was already introduced by his mother in the cultivation world by being regularly taught in the Shu family's library with the books Qai and Shu Wei gathered for the last five years.

He had also taken a liking to one of Qai's domesticated demonic beasts, the Storm Bear at the main family manor, with whom he always played with by riding on it.

For that reason, he was given by his father, Elder Shu Wu, of the task of taking care of the Storm Bear even if he wasn't part of the outer disciples yet.

***************

"Little Shen," Shu Wu finally made new instructions, "go to the Treasury Hall with Elder Yu and pick some cultivation pills and your choice of weapon."

As for the first skill scroll, it was earlier recommended to suspend learning any for a while unless Shen was already decided what skill to equip—what was important was for Shen to breakthrough first to initial Earth stage in the Expert realm.

In truth, Shen was indeed uncertain for his first skill.

He also wanted to contract his own demonic beasts seeing how his young master Qai solidified the advantages of learning 'Beast Taming' skill.

But upon awakening his rare Ice elemental affinity, he had now considered Mo Clan's way of taking advantage of such element.

Thus, in his mind, it truly was wise to suspend the first skill for a while and probably wait for Qai and ask for some advice.

"Let's go Little Shen," Old Yu suddenly said obviously inviting him to head to the Treasury Hall.

The young 'neophyte' cultivator nodded and braggingly took a glimpse at Yuan before taking any step forward to the cheers of the entire members of the Shu family.

***************

Meanwhile, the chief librarian Liu Hei did indeed breakthrough to mid Earth stage in the Emperor realm after a day of cultivation.

It should be remembered that the emperor realm was a different plane in the cultivation world altogether.

It was like each level was a bottleneck in this realm and that was why emperors found it consuming their entire lifespan stuck in that realm.

Upon breaking through to the next level though, the chief librarian was now on par with the Mo Clan patriarch.

Unknown to him, however, his wife Liu Hua underwent the same thing and broke through mid Heaven stage in the Sage realm.

Liu Hei finally stood and called Qai who for the obvious reason that he had patiently waited for him.

"Thanks for saving my life," the chief librarian said.

He was obviously embarrassed at the fact that he had been saved by young cultivator in the early stages of Sage realm.

Qai sensed the chief librarian's show of gratitude so he took out the two Profound grade 'Vitality Pills' and showed them to Liu Hei and explained that his wife had already given him the pills as a sign of gratitude.

After a brief pause, the chief librarian then looked at Qai's spatial pendant hanging on around his neck and smiled.

"That's a 'Chui Shi,' right!?"

"Eh."
