Qai felt that Liu Hei probably knew of the spatial pendant due to the chief librarian's Void elemental affinity.

And worse, he thought that if his theory was incorrect , he was afraid that it might turn out that the old emperor started to covet his 'Chui Shi' when he activated it the day earlier when he trespassed the building and got caught.

But Qai was immediately proven wrong.

"I have stayed in this library for so long that I gained a lot from reading these books," the chief librarian explained with a smile.

Qai's face obviously relaxed from Liu Hei's quick explanation. As a matter of fact, he eventually showed signs of unexpected interest and instant excitement.

"Can you show me where the books are!?" Qai politely asked.

The old emperor's facial expression showed signs of hesitation and felt sad for Qai. He, nonetheless, invited the young cultivator to walk with him as if he was about to lead the way.

"There was nothing much you'll find from there," the chief librarian awkwardly said as they walked.

He then suddenly stopped after few steps and faced Qai with deep look in his eyes intently. It was obviously an expression that was asking for a straight answer.

"If I am not mistaken," he relayed his thoughts with a clear tone, "that pendant was given to you by the Purple Mist Sect Master himself.."

"Eh."

Even if Qai did not show any gesture of agreement, his eyes nevertheless were beaming with deep approval.

"Some sect disciples came here sometime ago and already checked the books you wanted to see," the chief librarian explained. "And what they had learned were probably the things that you already know."

Qai was a bit disappointed with the chief librarian's revelation. But even if that was the case, he would still want to see the books for himself. However, before he could even say another word, the old emperor continued with his narration.

"When I personally learned of its existence, I had wanted one for myself," Liu Hei awkwardly admitted. "That's because I thought I could finally have a place for the mysterious egg I possess."

Qai was confused.

In his memory, the mysterious egg was already traded some nights ago—and he was an eye witness of that incident. In fact, the very reason why Liu Hei got in trouble was the truth that the chief librarian himself while in disguise had traded the egg in exchange for the ten-thousand year 'Thistle' flower.

The old librarian just grinned at the sight of Qai's perplexed expression and just went on with his slow strides on the library grounds.

"I have already made some research about you after I met you," the old emperor suddenly said. "And I say that your name actually precedes you."

"You flatter me too much," Qai politely replied. "I just had some luck."

Liu Hei was already aware that Qai was the 'little friend' of the the Purple Mist Sect Master and was also favored by the Mo Clan. But seeing personally the attitude and wisdom of Qai, he had no longer doubts about the reasons why.

"Call it luck or whatever," the chief librarian said, "but your recent success were sure remarkable."

He then paused for a moment and gathered his breath as the two of them finally ended up in front a locked door in one of the corners of the library building.

"I may be already an emperor and have a very envied rare element..," the emperor went on, "..but I am just an old rogue cultivator and not as lucky as you to have a powerful 'friend' like the Emperor Void who could gift something like you have."

In truth, Liu Hei and his wife were recruited and once a part of a great clan back when they had just awakened their elemental affinities—they were in fact nurtured as they had seen with great potential.

But as typical as it may seem, both of them were the object of envy and jealousy especially of the immediate heirs of the clan—and as matter of course, they were harassed and bullied.

In the end, they decided to leave the clan and set on their journey together until they offended the Black Shadow Clan ended up living very discreetly in Jiang City.

Qai's mind suddenly was interrupted at the sight of the locked door. That was because the door was exuding a heavy aura of a sealed formation.

"That's one of the perks of awakening a Void element," the chief librarian said obviously referring to the formation.

The emperor then made a gesture with his arms pointing towards the door and suddenly unleashed his emperor aura. The runes surrounding the door instantly flew in mid air at the commands of the chief librarian—and after few breaths, the door was finally unlocked.

'Whabaaam.'

"Let's get in," the chief librarian invited with a smile. "I have something important to show you..

Liu Hei paused for a moment before he attempted to push the door open.

"It's a little secret of mine.."

"Ah."
