After several weeks of wandering around the forests to the north of Jiang City and of crossing through villages, Qai finally reached Sun City.

When Qai arrived, he was shocked to see that the entire city practically looked like a market as there were shops and inns everywhere he looked.

'This..,' Qai thought to himself. 'This is three times bigger than Jiang City.'

It could be said that this was the farthest place Qai had ever been so far from his beloved plateau.

"Welcome to Sun City, young master," a stranger greeted.

"Eh!?"

It was a young kid of about eight or nine years of age wearing an old patched clothing but who obviously did not emit any Qi aura.

In short, he was mortal or a person who failed to awaken his elemental affinity.

"My name Dong Li, young master," the young mortal said. "I know everything around the city, so if you need a tour or if there's anything you need to know, I can help you for a silver coin."

"Ah."

Qai almost slapped his face with his palm realizing that his facial expression must appear to be a complete stranger in the city.

His initial thoughts that the young kid must be some sort of swindler. However, he thought that he might actually need his services after all.

"Alright," Qai said. "How about you tell me what this city is all about."

Sun City, or more commonly known as the city of trades, was one of the largest and busiest cities that could be found in the continent and could perhaps be considered as the center of the Stonecrest region.

It was densely populated and highly commercial area where trades and transactions happened all day without rest—in fact, many believed the reason why it was named after the Sun was because once a person, either a mortal or a cultivator, stepped inside the city walls, he would never be able to find time to sleep.

Not only were there plenty of big shops and treasure pavilions but thousands of small time vendors were practically placed on the streets.

Everything in the city could easily be said to be moved by trades to the extent that even information could be sold for a high price!

In fact, innkeepers were the best traders of information as most of the best gossips could be heard in the inns.

And just like the Black Shadow Clan and Demon's Cliff Sect, several great clans and minor sects in the region could also be found in and around the periphery of the city.

Many of the sect's obviously would opt to build their territories in the mountains rather than in the cities. But even then, those sects near the Sun City were very much associated with the ways and tradition of the city itself.

Qai handed Dong Li two gold coins and dismissed the young mortal after Qai asked him to direct him to an inn.

"Til next time, young master."

Things looked really different for the first time visitor, Qai, as everything he learned were all eye opening.

But what made Qai a bit glad was that he was able to find cultivators who, without a doubt, equipped the 'Beast Taming' skill—as 'tamed' mortal and demonic beasts were allowed to freely roam the city streets.

But unfortunately, Qai realized later on that they were mostly either a merchant who contracted demonic beasts for carriage purposes or a 'slave' cultivator.

In the case of merchant cultivators, there was no doubt about the usefulness of 'contracted' beasts—and not to mention the numerous wild or 'mortal' beasts they could still possibly tame.

But as to 'slave' cultivators, equipping the 'Beast Taming' skill was a big question to Qai.

He could not easily figure out the value of having a slave with a 'contracted' demonic beast.

***************

Slave trading was rampant inside the Sun City. And as a matter of fact, a slave could even be an item in an auction.

How a cultivator could become a slave, however, was a secret information not known to many.

But upon careful observation and inquiries for a price, here and there, one could apparently find out that there were high level alchemists who had a way of creating a potion that could control the minds of slaves—which was eventually more efficient when used upon cultivators in the Expert realm. It was probably because, they had the weaker constitution among cultivators.

And that was why it made sense that within the borders of the region, many bandit organizations would choose to abduct children who had yet awakened their elemental affinity.

Children were obviously hot commodities among slave traders as they sure have yet to equip any skill.

And apparently, most buyers or masters of the slaves would want, or more exactly, force their slaves, for some reason, to equip 'Beast Taming' skills.

***************

It took Qai almost three days of immersing himself with the people of Sun City to sufficiently understand their ways and culture.

Eventually, Qai learned through paid information that one of the reasons why what the people commonly called as 'beast tamers' were popular among slave buyers was because, in Sun City, there was something called 'slave fighting.'

And a 'slave fighter' with 'contracted' demonic beasts would undoubtedly gain an early advantage in terms of strength.

'I should better check a 'slave' match soon,' Qai thought.
