The following day, Qai decided to gear up a bit to strengthen his defenses. In short, he was intent on shopping some items to make an upgrade.

He once saw in the auction back in Jiang City a set of inner armors made of Earth stage Sage demonic beast of Earth element. So he felt that he could easily find such item in the city of trades without going through the hassle of bidding out competitors.

'I want one made from Metal elemental affinity demonic beast,' he thought.

Sun City was too big to be explored in a day. And Qai knew that stores and shops differ with their offered item prices—so he thought of keenly choosing one where he could get the best bargain.

**************

The city could be basically divided into three big territories—and they could practically be determined just by making use by the gates on the city walls as reference.

The southern gate portion, which was leading to the road towards Jiang City and through which Qai entered was known as the 'Central Market.'

The area was largely neutral and was apparently not controlled by any clan or sect. If any, it was more or less under the supervision of merchants' union in the Sun City and its territory covered almost half of the city.

The northeastern gate portion, which was facing towards a mountain range belonging to different sects and which was leading to the borders of the Stonecrest region to the north of the continent was known as the 'Alliance' territory.

Such was its name since it was under the control if three minor sects in the city—and one of which was the more renowned Demon's Cliff Sect.

And the western gate portion leading to other small cities and towns in the region was called 'Shadow' territory.

As the name suggested, it was chiefly governed by the Black Shadow Clan which was backed by some prominent major sect.

**************

Qai had no interest in the politics of the place so he couldn't care less which area he was in.

He first went to a populated street in the Central Market and immediately recognized a building owned by the Thousand Treasure Pavilion building as it hanged its insignia on a pole just outside its entrance. He instantly noticed its look as he remembered the wooden insignia that his sister had in possession.

He wanted to check what items it would offer as he was about to enter the place but he was immediately pulled by someone from behind.

"Young master!"

To his surprise, it was Dong Li.

Qai sarcastically stared at the young kid and then went closer to his ears.

"Are you perhaps tailing me!?" Qai threateningly asked.

"I wouldn't dare," Dong Li stammeringly explained himself. "An ant like me could be crushed easily with one finger by a cultivator, young master."

Indeed, a mere mortal had no power even to escape from a cultivator's wrath.

Qai carefully activated his 'Hawkeye' skill and cautiously inspected the surroundings. He believed the young mortal but he still checked them nonetheless.

"Young master," Dong Li said still in his frightened voice. "If you wanted to shop, allow me to show you where you could find the best items in the city."

Qai surmised that the boy was just trying to make a living and must have always been gathering his courage trying to approach his prospective clients—so Qai gave him the benefit of the doubt.

In truth, mortal children like Dong Li would normally charge in coppers for their 'guide' services.

It just happened that Dong Li tried his luck back then to raise his fee the first time he met Qai who, on the other hand, naively gave in to his offer.

Apparently, the gold coins Qai gave him was way too generous to Dong Li's standards—that was why he did, indeed, chased Qai day and night hoping to get another shot of doing business.

"Hmmn," Qai commandingly uttered. "I am looking for a place I could buy an inner armor."

Dong Li's face immediately lighted up and quickly bowed his head.

"Young master," he excitedly interrupted. "I just happened to know a place."

The two instantly agreed and Dong Li hastily took the step to guide his treasured client.

***************

It took about an hour of a leisurely walk for Qai and Dong Li to reach the place—it was actually located in the 'Alliance' territory.

Dong Li directed Qai in a small shady alley where almost only crudely built cabins could be seen.

"Are you sure we're on the right place," Qai asked with a doubting tone.

Dong Li took few more seconds before he could make an answer.

"Young master," he proudly said with a hand gesture pointing to a specific place. "We're actually already here."

What bared before them was an almost rundown woodshed.

"Big sister," Dong Li yelled from outside. "I'm back."

"Eh."

Qai was beginning to doubt his young guide all the more thinking that he was just led to the latter's house.

However, a skinny girl of about sixteen or seventeen years of age emerged from the doorstep with an angry look and exuding with initial Sky stage of Sage realm.

"What are you doing bringing cultivators here," the female cultivator furiously asked.

"But..," Dong Li embarrassingly replied.

Before Dong Li could continue though, the female cultivator quickly interrupted in displeasure.

"Haven't I told you that I had long stopped accepting job requests!?"
