Dong Li's eyes clearly turned even bigger in astonishment upon hearing Qai's words.

He was just hoping that he would be able to once again receive a gold or two from his benefactor. But what he and his sister were offered was way more than what he was expecting.

His big sister probably could make a dozen or so of set of inner armors with all the 'excess' valuables that Qai had gifted.

However, the problem was that selling the supposed finished product in the market for the 'right' price was a different matter altogether.

And by 'right,' it meant the possibility of 'actually' selling them—considering the reputation that the siblings had—without being extorted or being forcefully bargained by oppressive cultivators.

In Sun City, not only was business competition high but that bullying was also rampant.

Once in the past, Dong Fei attempted to fight back when a group of cultivators tried to pressure her to give all her designed weapons in a very cheap price but it only ended up with a threat to kill her younger brother.

In the end, without a strong backing, she could not do anything but give in as she did not want the tragedy of their parents be repeated.

Thus even if Qai's mode of payment appeared to be extravagant, Dong Fei seemed to be reluctant to accept such kind of payment. She would rather get paid in gold coins but she apparently could not explain Qai her sentiment properly

Dong Li, meanwhile, felt the predicament that seemed to burden his big sister so he took it upon himself to carelessly reveal Qai their sad state.

Dong Fei felt embarrassed with his little brother telling things that were totally not a stranger's concern like Qai.

But upon hearing Dong Li's explanation, Qai felt moved.

"How about you craft as much inner armors as you can with those," Qai suggested with a gesture pointing the items.

Qai thought he would just probably bring all the inner armors to be crafted back to 'The Hunters' Plateau' and distribute them to the members of his family.

"And I'll pay you for every set that you could craft," he said.

Qai completely remembered that one set of inner armor sold in the auction some time ago reached three thousand gold coins. But since Qai was providing the materials for this transaction, he thought of offering a much lower price for the service and design.

"How about I give you a thousand gold coins for every set you can make," Qai offered.

"Ah."

Dong Li almost fell from his seat. He could not imagine getting a hold on thousands of gold coins—he was obviously too inexperienced as a mortal with the ways of cultivators.

Dong Fei herself could not believe what she heard.

It had been a while since the last time she was able to make such a business deal. Not only would she be able to pay probably all her indebtedness but she would also have enough resources for her and his younger brother to survive for a long time.

In truth, should she be able to craft at least a dozen set of inner armors which would cost twelve thousand gold coins as per agreement, it would probably be enough for his mortal brother alone to live comfortably for the rest of his life.

So she actually also had the thought that maybe she could just give his brother every gold she would get from the deal and finally part ways with him so she could travel the world as a cultivator or maybe join a sect once and for all.

At any rate, Dong Fei agreed and instructed Qai to be back after three days for his personal set of inner armors and after a month for the rest.

"Hmmm," Qai mumbled.

Qai calculated in his mind and thought to himself that if that was the case, then he would have to stay in Sun City for at least a month more.

"Alright," he said. "Then I guess I better leave you with these things now as I have some other things to do."

Qai attempted to stand from his seat as if he was really intent on leaving but Dong Li grabbed his arms.

He looked at the young mortal and, to his surprise, found a smiling face full of tears.

Dong Li stood and bowed down his head in gratitude and gave Qai a heartfelt thanks.

"Young master," he said. "You have no idea what all this meant to me and big sister."

Qai simply smiled at the boy and tapped his shoulders.

"Come with me," he said. "I want to see something that perhaps you might know the place."

"Eh!?"

Qai revealed that he actually wanted to see two other things that he had heard about Sun City.

He wanted to see an actual shop trading slaves and also a slave match.

While, in the past days, Qai had already seen slaves roaming in the streets of the city, he had not noticed any shop that actually dealt slaves.

Dong Li, on the other hand, agreed after finally wiping off all his tears.

"Bring me first to a slave trader," Qai said.

"If you really wanted to meet one," Dong Li replied, "then we must go deep into the 'Shadow' territory."
