What bared Qai was a different scene altogether from what he saw before he closed his eyes to cultivate that night.

Within the thick mist in front of him was a stretch of several tombs aligned evenly. And if he could suspect, he was in a different dimension completely separate from the continent.

He quickly theorized that the scene was the 'real' forbidden Hundred Graves which would only appear together with the mysterious mist.

And in his estimation, such atmosphere was what made the living demonic beasts around somewhat infected. Probably through constant contact with the toxic stench, the demonic beasts' control of themselves were completely overtaken by strong urge to devour intruders of the forbidden grounds.

Qai once again quickly activated his 'Hawkeye' skill to scan the surroundings.

And just by looking once, he already saw few cultivators cautiously roaming around the place. The thick mist apparently numb most of their senses so everyone was careful. Fortunately, there were lesser demonic beasts—but that in itself was also suspicious.

Qai even saw the young sect genius on top of one of the tombs and appeared to be searching for something.

He did not move and spent more time watching things unfold. He felt that things weren't that simple.

In one corner, a group of Sage cultivators opened a tomb. A smoke suddenly burst forth. The. All of a Sudden, the group fought among themselves for half an hour and at the end, the last Sage standing who was himself bloodied for surviving a gruesome free-for-all fight stooped down and reached for a pair of boots.

"An 'Inheritance'!" A nearby group exclaimed upon seeing the boots.

Everyone saw how the groups' faces changed dramatically into greed and leapt towards the 'finder' obviously wanting to steal the Inheritance from his hands.

In just few breaths, the original finder died at the hands of the other group. The leader of that second group who was apparently at the mid Sky stage of the Sage realm with Earth elemental affinity took the pair of boots quickly wore it and immediately tried its ability even without first properly refining it.

What happened next made Qai dumbfounded.

The group leader's speed became swift even without activating any movement skill.

"Ha ha ha!"

The leader's laugh could be heard all over the place as he stood smugly in the middle of his group.

'Inheritance!?' Qai said to himself.

Qai who had grown up in a backwater plateau had no knowledge of such thing. He tried his best to dig his memory to see if he knew a thing or two about it. Unfortunately, he really had no idea what it was and had never seen one.

And even if he had met someone who had one, that cultivator would absolutely not show it since Inheritances were deemed as valuable hidden cards of cultivators. Nobody in his right mind would reveal to anybody his tricks especially in the cultivation world were survival was the hidden rule of the game.

Qai quickly stood up and rushed towards the center of the mist were most of the tombs laid.

While there were already opened tombs, which could mean that they were already searched, there were only a handful of groups of cultivators so there were still plenty of tombs for Qai to dig.

However, just before he opened the one he picked, shouts from a nearby group suddenly echoed—and they were obviously shouts that embodied fear.

Qai's instincts told him to activate his eye skill and to calmly observe things.

It was then that he saw a mysterious smoke in the shape of arms wrapped around the bodies of the cultivators as if trying to pull their souls towards the decayed body of the emperor buried in the tomb.

Qai jumped backwards in fright and could not believe what was happening to the cultivators so much so that he himself wanted to run.

It could be said that such kind of thing was already beyond the realm of cultivators—and whatever power the dead emperor in that tomb had in the past, it was definitely beyond explanation.

However, the young sect genius suddenly appeared near the tomb and quickly kicked the its lid accurately back to its place.

Fortunately enough, the attack stopped but the cultivators were unable to survive from the assault with their desiccated dead bodies left on the ground.

"Hmmmp," the young sect genius snickered then left.

Qai let out a breath after the sect genius went his way.

In truth, it was not that the youth tried to save Qai or the group of cultivators. In the sect genius' mind, had the mysterious soul attack scattered and continued, who knows how much greater disaster could occur—by then, probably not even the genius from the sect could do anything. That was why he rushed over to close back the tomb. Luckily, his theory proved him to be right.

Qai was all the more stunned.

There were plenty of things that Qai had not yet understood. Even if he wanted to know right then, it would not matter if he died inside the forbidden Hundred Graves. So he just gazed at the sect genius with respect.

After recovering from shock, Qai deduced that the dead emperor that the group encountered had cultivated some kind of skill in the past related to undying bodies and was now trying to revive which required souls of cultivators as nutrients.

With that thought, Qai suddenly had the doubt weather he should open the grave right in front of him or not. He did not want to end up in the same situation as the group earlier.

But since he already got inside the forbidden place, he decided to try his luck. But to be sure, he stepped back into some distance and used his bow to open the tomb.

'Swooosh.'

'Swooosh.'

'Swooosh.'
