Unfortunately for the leader of the group, he was not able to utilize the speed of the boots when he and his group tried to rob Qai.

One had to know that Qai had kept his contracted black tiger as his hidden card and had not previously revealed it to anyone within the area.

Thus, the group leader was taken by surprise when Shandian suddenly appeared.

And now that there were only two enemies left, the remaining opponents' strength reduced dramatically.

'Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.'

Shandian put more pressure on the two who were now in awkward situation. Apparently, the enemies gained a lot of due to their leader but now things were different.

Qai and Shandian were both in the initial Sky stage of the Sage realm while the two were only at Earth stages.

"Don't make me repeat myself," Qai said as he pulled the strings if his Darkwood Composite Bow aimed at one of them.

The two quickly removed their spatial rings and threw them towards Qai and quickly run.

**************

However, hundreds of yards away from Qai, the young sect genius actually witnessed the scene.

'Where did his contracted demonic beast come from!?' The youth asked himself.

He already felt before that Qai was not simple and what just transpired before his very eyes confirmed his suspicion.

All of a sudden he had the urge to make Qai join his side to explore the 'real' forbidden Hundred Graves once again should it reappear.

'Shua!'

The young sect genius sped his way at once towards Qai.

And with his Wind elemental affinity coupled with the Inheritance rank 'Azure Wind Armor,' he eventually reached Qai within a dozen of breaths.

Qai, who was still holding the pair of boots on his hands, was taken aback by the youth's sudden appearance.

"It's you," he said in fright.

Qai's initial thoughts were the sect genius was probably here to rob him—and he knew that he wasn't the youth's match.

However, he was surprised when the young sect genius spoke to him with respectful tone.

"Don't make the same mistake as that old bastard," the youth said referring to the dead Sage group leader. "You should first refine those boots before using them to fully use its ability."

"Eh!?"

Apparently, 'Inheritance' items would only recognize one owner.

And since most Inheritance items that could be found in the tombs were previously owned by the dead emperors, finders were thus required to refine them so they could be acknowledged as the new owners.

Qai eventually learned that the youth's name was Ji Wuheng and he belonged to one of the five great sects, the Scarlet Feather Sect located in the Southwestern part of the continent.

Seeing that Qai had no idea about what he said, Ji Wuheng briefly explained the process how to refine Inheritance items.

Right there and then, Qai sat in a lotus position and refined the boots and it took him more than three hours to succeed. And during which time, the young sect genius was guiding him.

After finishing the refinement, the two of them finally sensed the boots' real ability. It was emitting Wind attributes which should make the owner's movement speed and agility rise by leaps and bounds.

Qai thus immediately put the pair of boots on and tried its effect.

He put some Qi into it and activated his movement 'Flash' skill.

'Shua!'

Ji Wuheng was surprised. He wasn't able to see Qai's line of direction, it was like Qai teleported.

One should know that Lightning element also had the agility attribute so the addition of Wind element in his movement only made Qai blindingly fast.

"I shall call this 'Wind Lightning Boots'," Qai said with a smile.

Ji Wuheng furrowed his brows before he nodded in approval.

After few more tests, Qai said his thanks to Ji Wuheng.

He was tempted to ask the sect genius about the cloak he got but thought that he better not. In the first place, the two had only met and he was not certain of Ji Wuheng's real intention even if the latter appeared to be polite towards him.

So Qai decided to say his goodbye since he was anyway bent on leaving the forbidden grounds.

"Wait," the young sect genius suddenly said.

Seeing that Qai wanted to leave, Ji Wuheng revealed his goal.

"Last night I found a tomb that has an underground passage," the youth said. "But since the mist suddenly dissipated, the tomb disappeared as well."

Qai was surprised that he Ji Wuheng revealed it to him.

He then relayed to Qai that he would explore the underground passage once the 'real' Hundred Graves appeared again but felt that there could be even greater danger and so he earnestly invited Qai to join him to venture to deep in the passage.

It was a common knowledge that greater fortune would always come with great danger.

"We'll split the treasure equally," Ji Wuheng proposed to entice Qai to even more.

Qai thought for a moment and eventually decided to agree.

He was not confident that he could take on Ji Wuheng should it turned out that he had ill intentions—but now that he had an Inheritance rank boots, he was confident that he could easily escape any danger.

"Let's just meet again tonight," Qai suggested.

He didn't say where he was going or what he was supposed to do, but the young sect genius agreed anyway.

"Okay."

Even if Ji Wuheng wanted the boots himself as it perfectly complimented his Wind Elemental affinity, he still did not underestimate Qai's battle strength. Besides, he really did indeed need a companion to go deep in the passage—and he felt that Qai, who like himself wanted to go alone, could be trustworthy unlike the other cultivators who were like greedy clowns scheming against each other.

After some more idle talks, they finally separated their ways.

Qai then went to look for a safe place. And his goal—to refine the cloak!
