Qai's father, Shu Wei, has chosen a mainstream weapon: sword.

He complimented his weapon by equipping 'Sword Slash' common class skill. His elemental wall is another common class skill. By common class, it means these two skills can be utilized with any element. But because earth element specializes in defense, that 'Elemental Wall' made of Earth element becomes doubly durable.

His prized third skill, 'Earthquake Kick, is a rare skill. Since it is rare, it means such skill is specifically designed for Earth attribute.

'Earthquake Kick' is actually a mid range kick that creates a lineal cracks visible on the groud coupled with loud vibrations. And Shu Wei acquired it with the help of an elder of the former clan he served.

Qai's mother is named Shu Ling. Although a cultivator, she is not fond of fighting--so at 35, with Water as her element, she barely reached the peak earth stage of expert realm. With meager cultivation, her main task in the family is to take care of the household and the management of their small-time inn.

Shu Ling only learned skill is 'Basic Healing.' Such skill however is a rare one as it is only learned by cultivators with Water affinity.

Qai's older brother, Shu Wu, obviously idolizes his father.

At 20 years old of peak sky stage of expert realm, his cultivation is by no means a genius. His cultivation has slowed down with the lack of resources. As for his cultivation path, he has followed the steps of his father for his skill choices, namely, 'Sword Slash' and 'Elemental wall,' and is prepared to learn 'Earthquake Kick' once he breaksthrough to Heaven stage.

Shu Wu married at the age of 18 and her wife is now an expectant mother. And this made Shu family a bit bigger.

Qai's sister-in-law, Qinlun, 19 and an orphan, is of Fire element and is at the initial sky stage of expert realm. She was adopted by his parents after she awakened her element. His father believed that such a talent is hard to come by.

Fire element is a common element but is definitely valueable as the element has twofold path--alchemy and high offense.

A fire element cultivator may opt for a an all alchemy skill or for an all offense build or a combination of both. An all alchemy skill build is in demand for large sects for obvious reasons.

As for Qinlun, she chose common class 'Palm Strike' as her first skill. She thought that she at least needs one striking skill before focusing in an all-alchemy build. And for her second skill, she learned a rare skill for fire element affinity, 'Basic Alchemy.'

Both Qai's brother and sister-in-law are expecting a baby soon. And this fact led Qai to believe that his family's rise to become a cultivating clan is inevitable. And for him, it's only a matter of time.

Qai's older sister, Shu Liang, 10, has Wind element for her cultivation affinity. She is currently at the peak earth stage of expert realm. Such speed in cultivation is average.

Shu Liang's choice of first skill is 'Cloud Steps.' It is a common grade, but due to her agility type element, the skill becomes doubly efficient. As for her weapon, she chose flying needles which also compliments her element.

Without any attacking skill yet, her job in the family is zeroed in gathering herbs. But because of her speed, she can easily escape from low-leveled demonic beasts which explains why she can enter and gather herbs in the inner part of Darkwood forest.

*************

On the first day in the Darkwood Forest, Qai specifically focused on hunting wild rabbits and wild boars. These beasts are only in the realm of mortal beasts.

*************

Beasts are categorized into Mortal,

Demonic and Divine.

Mortal beasts are mere food for mortal men. And they have no use to cultivators. They have no cultivation or skills and their meat is not nutricious as food for cultivators.

At most, their special trait is that all demonic beasts start from being mortal. So basically, a mortal beast can also enter into cultivation.

Demonic and Divine beasts are special. They have cultivation levels, some have elemental affinities some do not but all produce inner cores. And as they get stronger, they develop special skills--although their skillls are limited to only one for every realm of their cultivation.

Although limited, their skills are stronger--that is because the physical constitution of beasts are obviously greater than human cultivators. So the gap in quantity is offset by quality.

Beast cores found in demonic and divine beasts has two uses, namely, skill scroll making and concocting pills of higher grade.

So basically the skill acquired by cultivators are somewhat stolen or copied from demonic beasts through the scrolls forged by immortals.

*************

But for Qai's training, hunting mortal beasts just to train himself is more than sufficient.

There are no levels among mortal beasts. They are simply classified according to inner strength and basic instinctive abilities.
