Qai gave Shu Liang and Shu Wu a piece of the supreme grade Qi Gathering Pills each, which he received from the Sect Headmaster, in the hope that all three of them would breakthrough a level.

He particularly gave Shu Wu a pill since it would mean another sage realm cultivator would emerge in the family.

Qai had thought that he can't be selfish if his real goal was to establish a clan. It was a necessary move--after all, having another sage in the family would accelerate everything.

As for him and Shu Liang, they also needed to breakthrough before they enter the wasteland. Most of the experts who would participate in the event would definitely be half-step sage cultivators while both of them were still at the initial heaven stage.

They needed to at least raise a level in order to keep up with most of the participants.

***************

By this time, the demonic War Horses and Dire Wolves of the Shu family had grown significantly fast--all four of them, with the help of the pills, beast cores and herbs especially seasoned for their food, reached the peak earth stage.

Although still within earth stage, the four demonic beasts were strong enough to be extremely helpful in the Shu family's daily tasks.

In fact, the War Horses were regularly hired by the Mo Clan for faster travel back into Jiang City whenever they needed to replenish their merchandise.

The Dire Wolves on the other hand, with their innate keen senses, became the night patrol demonic beast guards keeping the place away from thieves lurking in disguise.

The Hunters' Plateau were obviously housing countless of valueable items in the merchants' private tents so occasional attempts to infiltrate the tents occured.

At first, the presence of the four demonic beasts were a surprise among the guests, but as days went by, it became a fact to behold--some of the guests even entertained the thought of learning 'Beast Taming' seeing how convenient it was having demonic beasts around.

***************

Just a few days thereafter, Shu Liang finally brokethrough with a month more to go before the Desolate Wasteland portal opens. She was the first among three siblings to level up.

Shu Wu on the other hand, who was obviously feeling the bottleneck, sought the help of his father to lend him some gold to purchase another supreme grade pill from the Mo Clan's shop.

Shu Wei definitely knew the feeling of wanting to breakthrough to sage realm as he had struggled with the same for decades--so he didn't think twice of helping his oldest son.

The supreme grade pill was a little expensive but since the family earned a lot in the past two months, money wasn't actually a problem. Shu Wei just hoped that, unlike his case, pills would be enough for Shu Wu to breakthrough.

Qai and Shandian followed suit. They later brokethrough, three days after Shu Liang did.

A level is truly a significant increase in strength. Qai could feel the difference from the way his and Shandian's aura exuded their Lightning element.

And with their new-found level, Qai and Shu Liang, together with Shandian, once again went into the inner part of the Darkwood Forest to train.

"Big sister," Qai called her attentiom while in training.

"We once met a sect disciple named Chu Feng.. he has 'Wind' elemental affinity like yours..," he described.

"What of it?" Shu Liang asked while standing on top of the tree. She got used to her scouting role so she felt comfortable making use of high positions.

After pausing for a moment, Qai recalled what he saw from Chu Feng.

"That Chu Feng.. he used an incredible sage grade skill.. I think it's called 'Whirlwind'.. you should get that one when you breach the sage realm.." Qai said with a big smile.

Qai remembered how powerful the attack was and thought it would be good if his big sister would learn it herself.

"Get me one then," Shu Liang replied bossily.

***************

As the Desolate Wasteland event drew closer, official participants, mostly wandering cultivators, were increasingly showing up in the plateau.

The Shu territory or The Hunters' Plateau was gradually becoming livelier.

Small skirmishes were inevitable--it was good though that none of the disciples from the sect and clans were present. It would be a disaster should fights among renowned disciples occured since the cultivators tasked to keep the security were yet to arrive.

***************

Qai and Shu Liang together with Shandian came home a week after their training in the forest.

They were surprised to see how lively their home was as they strolled around. But upon reaching the trading area, a voice in the midst of cultivators suddenly echoed.

"Shu Qai!"
