"Are you certain that this map is accurate?" Xing Yi asked the guide whom she summoned.

The guide nodded in approval.

"I am quite confident with my knowledge of the terrain of these parts of the land..," answered the guide, "..and I can say that this map is quite detailed.."

"However..," the guide quickly followed before anyone say a word, "..I do not know what these marks mean.."

The guide was referring to the marks the Shu family left in the map. All the other marks appearing in the original copy were not placed.

"They could mean, as everyone assumes, the exact hideout of the bandits or could mean something else..," the guide explained.

The Shu family left three marks in the map which they assumed to be the most likely refer to the bandits encampments. To their standards All the other marks that they kept to themselves could be a possible location of something valuable to the bandits.

"Hmmmn..," the chief murmured.

"What do you suggest then?" One elder asked.

The guide paused for a moment and thought deeply. But before he could say a word, Qai who was quietly listening immediately interrupted.

"Excuse me chief Xing Yi," Qai said.

"What is it?" the chief asked.

"I have a suggestion," Qai replied.

All the other elders were surprised with the sudden interruption by Qai and waited intently what he was about to say—they remembered how the Shu young master devised the equitable rewards he suggested before.

"Why dont we first camp in these part of the mountains," Qai said as pointed to a high location in the map.

"That way we could set up a defensive base against possible bandit attacks.." Qai explained.

Everyone in the meeting was already aware that the bandit must have already been notified by the bandit extermination and must be have already prepared for it.

"From there, we could send small groups to first check and scout what these marks are all about..," Qai added.

Qai was not yet finished with his explanation but everyone already understood the strategy that Qai was suggesting.

The chief then asked the guide about the location of the base Qai proposed.

"Tell us something about this place?" Xing Yi asked as she looked into the eyes of the guide.

"It's a hilly place.. there are few trees and large bushes surrounding it but its practically an open space..," the guide described. "We can choose the highest one to set up our camp so we can perfectly see any incoming attacks.."

"Alright," the chief said. "You all should know that the bandits have the advantage in the terrain.. we can't be too demanding about where to set our camp up."

The elders of the Han Valley who were present nodded.

"The only thing that we could do is opt for the most advantageous to us and avoid early encounter with the bandits..," Xing Yi.

"Tomorrow we shall call for a meeting to all the leaders of each group and other participants..," she added. "We shall utilize this map to strategize our attacks.. and proceed with our plans the earlier the better."

***************

The following day, the Han Valley chief did indeed called for the assembly of the all the team leaders and high leveled cultivators.

"There are slight changes in our event..," Xing Yi announced.

The crowd gathered wondered what the Han Valley chief was referring to.

"Instead of making a move in the next few days..," she said after a brief sigh, "..we shall depart tomorrow to a designated base."

All who heard the announcement had one thought in mind—to rush to the shops and store as much medicinal pills as possible. Obviously many came early to lazy around the area and check the trading shops for any particular item they might like.. but they were not expecting that the event would start sooner than they expected. In short, many were yet to fully prepare for the extermination.

The Shu family who were expecting the strategic change dismantled their temporary shop and planned to move it to the designated base. Shu Wei told it to the Mo Clan and agreed to do the same.

From there the chief described in details the existence of the map and the initial thoughts the Han Valley planned.

Many believed it was a smart move to pick a base of operations first near the area instead of blindly rushing through the mountainous area.

Although by their assumption, the bandits numbered around half a thousand or so and that by their count all the participants numbered more than a thousand, their supremacy in number would mean nothing if they have no idea where the enemies were.

So, it would be better to approach the area strategically to avoid early losses.

And to ascertain the success of the initial plan, the Han Valley chief requested the three big clans participating the event to take care of scouting the three marks found in the map.

Immediately after the Han Valley chief finished the assembly, all the participating cultivators went on their way to furnish themselves all the necessary items they would need in the coming days.
