The following day at sunrise the Han Valley chief called the some of the town elders and directed them to start moving to the designated base.

"It's about time we move," Xing Yi said. "Tell all the participants to make their way to the hills."

The elders nodded and rushed to spread the announcement.

'It would probably take the event an entire week to fully exterminate the bandits in the area,' the chief thought to herself.

Such estimate had already considered the possibility that the bandits also made their preparations.

The travel alone from the Han Valley to the designated base would probably take half a day assuming that no raids along the way would take place.

But with almost a thousand of cultivators traveling like a horde, who would dare try to ambush them—even a pack of demonic beasts would think twice.

And so, all the participating cultivators in just a matter of few minutes started to move including the merchants who wished to take advantage of the situation.

"Big brother," Qai called. "We should start moving as well."

Shu Wu nodded and told everyone to get ready.

"Get on to your mounts and we shall ride to the hills..," he instructed, "..we should get there ahead to check out the place.."

And so the five of them rode the ferocious demonic beasts beaming with confidence and strong aura as many of the cultivators looked at them with envy.

'Should I get that common 'Beast Taming' for my next skill!?' many thought to themselves.

****************

"Little Qai..," Shu Wu called all of a sudden while they were on their way to the designated camp.

Qai simply looked at his big brother and silently waited for whatever Shu Wu was about to say.

"I've been wondering for several times already..," Shu Wu said with a confused look on his face.

"What is it big brother?" Qai asked in reply.

The rest of the team members suddenly opened their ears anticipating Shu Wu's question.

"It's been years already since you have 'domesticated' these War Horses and Dire Wolves in pairs..," Shu Wu remarked then sighed.

After a breath of silence, Shu Wu scratched his head obviously a bit shy of what he was about to say.

"Why is it then that they don't reproduce?" Shu Wu asked awkwardly.

Every other members of the team all of a sudden realized that such thoughts never crossed their minds.

"Yeah..," Shu Liang followed suit. "What happened to these demonic beasts!?"

Qai didn't know what to say. He and Jing who had been alternatingly taking care of the domesticated demonic beasts had also been examining the beasts for years trying to figure out the answer to the question.

"Elder Wu," Jing called. "We don't know either. "About that.. Young master Qai had instructed me to observe these demonic beasts but from the time they.."

He was about to continue his words but Qai quickly interrupted.

"Eversince they were 'domesticated,' they somehow become more of a 'controlled' beasts..," Qai explained. "It's like apart from the need to be fed, all of sudden most of their bestial characteristics were somehow cut off.. as if their existence is to simply wait for orders.."

In truth, their instinctive traits were ironically suspended—but even if those beasts were not like the 'contracted' demonic beasts in many respect, the domesticated ones were also under the same influence of the tamer.

"I don't know how to say it.. but it seems that reproduction is one of those limitations and difference of a 'domesticated' demonic beasts from a naturally evolved one..," he added with a bit of difficulty.

Qai himself was not so certain to such phenomenon. It was a different case with respect to Shandian who can freely communicate with him.

"It's different with Shandian..," Qai said.

'Growwl.'

Shandian softly murmured as if he was in agreement.

"It's like I can personally see through Shandian's ways..," Qai added. "We have that indescribable link that connects us.. and from what I can see, this black tiger's bestial instincts are intact.."

There was a moment of silence. Everyone's face who heard Qai's explanation showed that they were beginning to entertain some ideas—until Shu Liang spoke.

"Well..," she said, "we better look for a female tiger to see for ourselves.."

'Growwl.'

"Ah."

***************

Thanks to the demonic beasts, 'The Hunters' Plateau' team did indeed came to the designated base early.

Qai immediately went up a tall tree and activated his 'Hawkeye' skill to start scouting the surrounding area of the camp.

"This looks like a perfect place to set our camp up," he said.

Shu Wu nodded and instructed the team to start their work.

"Let's pick the best spot and pitch our tents," Shu Wu said.

Qai then called the Dire Wolves and commanded them to double check the surrounding. The wolves heeded Qai's instructions and swiflty ran through the hilly place with occassional stops to sniff any possible enemy marks.
