After Jayde teleported to the Pavilion, Yinxin magical tears soaked into the ground. It was said that the tears of a silver dragon were one of the most precious treasures the gods gave to Doha, it was rumored that their tears could change a desert into an oasis.

The rumors didn't lie.

The tears of a silver dragon were pure magic, filled with the most potent life and earth magic known. It was just as well no one remembered just how precious a silver dragons tears were, as a single tear could bring the recently dead back to life, as long as the soul had not left the body — the body could be resuscitated.

During the battle with the Demonic Nematomorpha, almost half of the vitality the parasitic worms had robbed had returned to Doha, but there was still a sizeable area that was devoid of life. When Yinxin magical tears were absorbed, not only did this dead area revitalized, but also the surrounding area for hundreds of kilometers squared.

The soil was abundant with rich nutrients, vibrant sprouts and seedlings burst forth filled with vibrancy. The potency of the Qi doubled. Ancient roots that were dying revitalized. Deep with the Dark Forest stagnant poisoned lakes and rivers, that had been fouled by the worms, were detoxed and the water became sparkling clean, filled with spiritual energy.

Hundreds of pregnant beasts with dying fetus in their uteruses felt the flickering life in their bellies stabilizing and their unborn children growing stronger. Life had returned to the Dark Forest with a vengeance, the earth felt young and fresh again. Listless earth spirit sung with joy as their energy was renewed.

Deep with the bowls of the earth, Ala could feel a part of her that she had severed hundreds of years ago, to prevent the contagion from spreading to her, calling to her. Exhausted she tentatively reached out to that piece of her, curious as to why after so many years she could feel it.

As her mind grew closer, Ala was stunned by the abundance of life that she could feel. Joy filled her entire being as she felt the elation of the earth. The small part of her that she had severed when it had started to die, was now radiant and filled with energy.

Without hesitating, Ala teleported to this miracle of life, rejoining with that piece of herself. With the merging of this vibrant piece of herself, some of Ala's depleted energy returned. Small earth spirits danced with joy around Ala, happy to share their great joy with her.

Burrowing herself deep within the miracle of life, surrounding by the purity of the rich soil, the deep ache that had drilled into her body for thousands of years dulled a bit. Sighing with relief, Ala let out a heartfelt sigh, amazed that her daughter and Jayde had wrought this miracle in such a short time.

This area would be safe from those parasitic worms for hundreds of years, the vibrant life energy that rife through this area was deadly to them, they would avoid this place. Ala could rest here in peace knowing that she was safe.

For the first time in ten thousand years, Ala felt the hefty burden on her shoulders lighten — finally, she had someone to share her burden, no longer was she alone in this struggle. With a faint smile on her face, Ala closed her eyes and for the first time since the sundering, she slept deeply without her usual nightmares.

Dragon Domain, Upper Realm

Xinglong[1] was relaxing in his lava pool, overseeing thousands of dragons was an exhausting task, with so many different sects, just maintaining the peace between them all was a full-time job. Xinglong wasn't the ruler of the Dragon Domain, his father was. His father had made Xinglong regent when he had decided to take a long overdue vacation with Xinglong's mother.

Xinglong had been happy to rule in his father's place, while the couple had a well-deserved holiday. The only problem was — that had been ten thousand years ago.

Every time the couple returned to check on their children, Xinglong would bring up the subject of when the couple would be returning, only to have his father pat his shoulder and tell him what a good job he was doing and the next day the couple would up and disappear.

While Xinglong complained bitterly that his parents were taking advantage of his generous nature, he knew that his father would have abdicated ages ago, but Xinglong couldn't ascend to the throne without a mate.

The elders had decreed hundreds of thousands of years ago only a mated dragon could rule, mentioning something about a mated dragon being more stable, personally, Xinglong thought it was because everyone knew that a wife ruled a dragon's home. With meant that if your king didn't do what you wanted, you could also turn to the queen and get her to change her mate's mind.

Oh make no mistake his parent had tried desperately hard to match him up, but Xinglong wasn't interested in the timid dragonesses that were shoved in his direction. Once the female dragons had been fierce warriors who could have put their male counterparts to shame, but after the dragons had lost so many of their females to the Zartonesh, many of the dragon families had become extremely protective of their females.

Now the dragonesses were but a shadow of their former selves, and they found Xinglong frightening. As a general who had led his people into thousands of battles, all the gentleness in Xinglong had been bled away a long time ago.

Xinglong wanted a mate as fierce as his mother, someone who would help him shoulder his burdens, who would love and fight with him passionately, not scream in fright or faint when he frowned.

Cursing his bitter fate, Xinglong knew that he was running out of time, the next Zartonesh invasion would take place in less than a hundred years, and either his father had to return to rule the dragons or he would have to settle for one of those timid females.

Shuddering at the thought of having to face one of those fainting females every day, Xinglong was determined to get his father's arse back on the throne, so he could do want he did best, slaughtering Zartonesh.

Sighing deeply, Xinglong submerged himself into the lava. Cradled in the warm streams of lava he felt the tension in his body melting away.

All of a sudden the lava around him reacted violently. The tiny fire spirits who had moments before being swimming around lazy became frenzied. Xinglong could feel small vibrations pulsing through the earth.

Alarmed he sat up, extending his magical sensing deep into the earth he tried to track down the cause of the disturbance.

A dormant part of Xinglong started to react to the magic pulses vibrating through the earth, stunned Xinglong froze, it can't be possible, he thought.

Doubting what his senses were telling him, he sent his senses out again, this time carefully observing the changes in his own body.

Again the dormant magic within his body reacted, as though sensing a familiar part. Shaking his head in disbelief Xinglong watched as the ancient magic in blood slowly stirred to life.

Blinking rapidly, Xinglong felt light-headed. Impossible! He thought.

Just then the vibrations stopped.

No! Xinglong shouted silently, instantly he turned into smoke and burrowed into the earth. Please, gods, he prayed silently, let me find her.

Xinglong prayers went unheard, the magic vibrations had stopped, he searched futility for hours but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't pick up a trace of the pure earth magic he had felt.

Exhausted he returned to his lava pool and resumed his corporeal state. Being in his smoke state used up a tremendous amount of energy and it was not something he did lightly.

Once he was solid again, Xinglong could hear frantic knocking at the door that led to his inner sanctum.

"My Lord," he could hear his manservant calling out frantically.

Dejected that he had lost the trace of that incredible earth magic, Xinglong climbed out of his lava pool, using his magic he wiped off all traces of lava left on his body, then donning his seal of office, he briskly walked over to the sealed door. Releasing the runes, he opened the door to see the pale, anxious face of his manservant.

"Anlong [2] what is it?" Xinlong asked brusquely.

"My Lord, the Ancient One has demanded your presence," Anlong said, his voice quavered, betraying his fear.

With a look of resignation on his face, Xinglong said, "I expected as much."

If he had felt that burst of incredible pure earth magic, then it stood to reason that the Ancient One had also felt it.

"I will leave now to visit him, tell the elders—"

"My Lord," Anlong said interrupting Xinglong, "the Ancient One is waiting for you in the throne room."

"What?" Xinglong burst out.

Hunching his shoulders, Anlong said in a small voice, "the Ancient One is waiting for you in the throne room."

"Bloody f*cking brilliant!" Xinglong bellowed.

Clenching his fists, Xinglong stormed off to the throne room. That damn old dragon — has he any idea just what sort of commotion him leaving his mountain will cause, Xinglong cursed bitterly.

Xinglong hadn't even made it to the throne room when he was besieged by elders from every sect, all demanding to know what had happened, why the Ancient One had left his mountain.

Xinglong greatest weakness accordingly to everyone (he personally considered it one of his strengths) was his lack of tact. Losing patience with the diddling elders.

"Enough!" he roared.

Half the elders jumped in fright at Xinglong roar, patting their chest, they threw the brash young dragon reproachful looks.

Happy to have some peace and quiet, really his ears can't take their chittering, he thought.

"In case you have forgotten the Ancient One is waiting for me — or would you ALL like to explain to him why I kept him waiting?"

With Xinglong threat, the elders quickly parted clearing a path all the way to the throne room, some of them even daring to push him to hurry up.

Between facing Xinglong fury or the Ancient One, the elders would rather face Xinglong.

Walking into the throne room, Xinglong demanded everyone to leave. Once everyone had departed he closed the massive doors, then turned to face the ancient shadow dragon sitting on his throne.

"You really stirred up a hornet's nest Grandfather, happy with yourself?" he said bitterly.
