"Thank you brother, I knew I could count on you," Xinglong said, "I need you to contact Heiteng❶."

Ren's frowned when he heard Xinglong's request, "What does the black dragon prince have to do with this matter?"

Xinglong scratched his nose with his talon, as he smiled sheepishly, "Let's just say that I have set up a trap for the elders, and they took the bait, hook, line, and sinker."

Ren's eyes narrowed as he stared at Xinglong, "What did you do?" he asked suspiciously.

Before suspecting that the silver dragon might be his true-mate, Ren's wouldn't have been too curious about what Xinglong was up to, but now it was a different matter. He knew that Xinglong could be as cunning as a fox, and as ruthless as himself when it came to dealing with an enemy.

Snorting Xinglong said: "I have long known that some of my shadow brothers have betrayed our sect and become stooges for the other sects," Xinglong said with disgust, "So I arranged for them to overhear part of the family meeting regarding the silver dragon."

Xinglong had known for a long time that some of his shadow dragons were working for the enemy. When he had first found out, he had been enraged, his first instinct was to gut the betrayers, but he had quickly come to his senses and realized it was better to know who your enemy was than eliminating all of them. He had been able to use these spies to his benefit for quite some time.

For years he had been testing his people, dropping small tidbits here and there. It had taken him a while to find the spies, but he was pretty sure that he had discovered most of them, but he was sure there were a couple still deeply hidden with his sect.

No one knew that the amulet that Xinglong wore around his neck was in actual fact an ancient artifact gifted to him by Heiteng. The black dragons were one of the few dragon sects who still had access to some ancient spells, and one of them was a blood magic locator spell.

It had taken Xinglong a long time to arrange to collect some blood samples of all the dragons which he suspected of being spies. Now every time one of those people were within hearing distance of him, the amulet would heat up warning him of the danger.

During the family meeting, Xinglong had known that there were a couple of spies near the family room. He had allowed them to over the first part of the conversation. It was only when the servants had come in to deliver the tea that he had sent a secret signal to a couple of his trusted guards, all of whom had blood sworn their loyalty to him.

These elite guards had casually made their way over to the area where the family meeting room was located, forcing the spies to withdraw, at the same time Xinglong and secretly activated a small dampening spell, another gift from the black dragons.

The dampening spell would have ensured that even if those spies had used magic or a talisman to increase their hearing, they would only have picked up muffled sounds, and would not have heard any distinct voices. Since they could still hear muffled voices, they would have assumed that the family was talking softer, which would not have aroused their suspicions.

The elders didn't suspect that their spies had been discovered since Xinglong had allowed the spies to bring back relevant intel to them, and after so many years of getting away with it, they had become cocky. They didn't even realize that Xinglong had contracted an earth spirit that lived in the clearing where the spies always snuck out too, so he was always aware who was leaving the shadow dragon family estate.

Xinglong had tried to bring up the issue of there being spies within the shadow dragon sect a couple of times with his father and grandfather, but both refused to believe that any shadow dragon would betray their faction. Both of them had accused Xinglong of being paranoid and had been disappointed that Xinglong could even think that one of their kind would betray them.

Frustrated and angry that his father and grandfather were so naive, Xinglong had reluctantly dropped the matter, but he was dreading the day when both were confronted with the truth, they were going to be devastated when they found out.

"What?!" Ren bellowed.

Xinglong head jerked back at Ren's shout. Ren seeing Xinglong startled reaction realized that he had overreacted.

"What I meant is why would you endanger the silver queen by doing something so risky?" he said in a calmer voice.

While taken aback my Ren's reaction, Xinglong concluded that Ren's overreaction was due to the demons overprotectiveness of their females.

"Do you think I wanted too?" Xinglong asked bitterly, "I have been trying for hundreds of years to bring those greedy bastards down, but they are too fucking careful."

Xinglong was so agitated that his talons were scraping the top of his desk, leaving deep marks within the expensive wood.

"That is still no bloody excuse to endanger a fragile female," reprimanded Ren.

Averting his eyes Xinglong lashed out: "What the fuck do you know? You have no fucking clue how deep their corruption goes, they have managed to infest every part of our society."

"Oh, really I have no clue about how corrupt society can become?" Ren retorted sarcastically.

Xinglong's cheeks flushed a faint red, as his chin dipped towards his chest.

Taking a deep breath, Xinglong looked up, "Sorry Ren, that was uncalled for," he apologized.

"Fuck, it's just that I know that I can't bring her back here, not until those damn bastards are gone, and we are too fucking powerless at the moment to deal with them. The bronze, green and red dragons will unite to take control of her just like they did in the past. I really had no damn choice."

"Well, it too damn late now to do anything about it, what is your plan?" Ren asked curtly.

"The bronze sect has already sent out Heihuo with two elite guards, they are meant to track us and call for reinforcements when we find the silver queen. There are indications that the green dragon sect and red dragon sect are going to do the same. Although I have only managed to confirm that Heihuo and his two followers have left the Dragon Realm, but from what my spies have managed to find out, both heirs to the red and green sect have suddenly declared that they are going into closed-door cultivation."

Ren cocked his right eyebrow as he asked: "They not working together?"

"Haha, as if, no they each trying to hide it from each," Xinglong said with disdain, "but that works perfectly for me, as this is the perfect opportunity to break their alliance."

"Oh! And just how are you going to do that?" Ren asked although he had a fairly good idea what Xinglong was planning to do.

"Simple Heihuo is going to eliminate the young princes of the green and red sect and leave evidence that Heihuo killed them," Xinglong said with an evil grin.

Ren's lip curled into a grim smile, "Well that will crush their alliance," then frowning he asked: "But why you keeping Heihuo alive, out of all three heirs he is the most dangerous."

Xinglong's eyes flashed coldly, "Let just say I am keeping Heihuo as a present for my dear sister," he hissed dangerously.
