Once High Merchant Creseul left the room, President Andillevé apologized for his conduct, while he was taking a couple of minutes to cool his temper, his son Counseller Andillevé and Elder Ryunzo discussed how much charcoal Tardide could supply Oldstrand.

Elder Ryunzo confirmed that Tardide could currently supply Oldstrand with one hundred and fifty sacks of charcoal a week, they could always discuss increasing the supply later on. Both father and son were surprised that Tardide could supply so many sacks of charcoal.

President Andillevé and Elder Ryunzo discussed pricing, and it was decided that initially charcoal would be sold only to the wealthy citizens, as well as blacksmiths and the Mages' Guild. This was to create hype for the product. The price per sack would be sixty gold pieces, with Tardide receiving forty gold pieces and the rest for the Merchants' Guild.

Elder Ryunzo was ecstatic over the price, he had only expected to receive around ten gold pieces per sack, he also came to realize just how badly High Merchant Creseul had tried to con him and with that realization, any sympathy he had for the man and his family died.

With such a generous offer, Elder Ryunzo was more than willing to give the Merchants' Guild exclusivity over the distribution of charcoal, much to the delight of father and son.

"Elder Ryunzo, would you by any chance be willing to share your technology on how to manufacture charcoal?" Counsellor Andillevé asked.

"We, of course, would come up with a fair deal that would ensure Tardide is well protected" he went on to add.

Elder Ryunzo looked at Jayde, trying to get her opinion, it was after all her technology.

Seeing Elder Ryunzo's look Jayde responded to Counsellor Andillevé inquiry.

"Counsellor Andillevé, currently Tardide would like to keep this knowledge secret, but we would be more than willing to share this technology with Oldstrand in say ... five years."

Jayde knew that there was no way that Tardide would be able to keep the making of charcoal under wraps eventually, someone would find out how it was made, and Tardide would lose their monopoly.

What she wanted to do was buy Tardide time to prepare, with the wealth that they were going to generate, Tardide was about to become a target for the greedy warlords. If she could guarantee that Oldstrand would eventually get their hands on the technology they would do their best to protect Tardide, giving the villagers time to build up their defenses and hire guards and even to build up their own army to protect the village.

Jayde also planned to leave them instructions on some other technology like how to make clay pottery, clay bricks and roof tiles that they would be able to guarantee that the villagers would always have a sizable income to ensure their protection.

Seeing the disappointed look on Counsellor Andillevé's face, Jayde decided to make him an offer that he couldn't refuse.

"Counsellor Andillevé, there are two other items that we haven't discussed yet, which I am sure you would find just as lucrative as charcoal."

Counsellor Andillevé had up until now written Jayde off, he had thought that Elder Ryunzo must have hired her as protection, so while he was still respectful — only an absolute idiot would insult a Mage as powerful as Jayde — he hadn't paid her much attention.

But seeing how Elder Ryunzo had looked at Jayde for confirmation when he asked about sharing the technology, he realized that he had misunderstood the relationship between them.

President Andillevé was stunned when he realized that Tardide had more to offer than just charcoal, and like his son, he had come to understand that this young Mage sitting in front of him must be the reason for the miraculous changes taking place in Tardide.

While a part of him was a bit bitter that he hadn't been able to snap up such an incredible talent before the village had, he nevertheless was grateful that he had decided to visit the Merchants' Guild today. He shuddered just thinking of the opportunities he would have missed if High Merchant Creseul had still been in charge of this deal.

"Lady Jayde, please enlighten us" Counsellor Andillevé invited.

"Well, firstly Tardide will have over twenty hectares of Afeaso ready to harvest in two months, as well as five hectares each of Sapphire Bloom, Golden Mallow, Wolf Seed, Monk's Bloom and Cemaley which will be ready to harvest in four months time."

President Andillevé jaw nearly hit the ground he was so shocked, all those herbs were precious and rare, especially Golden Mallow and Wolf Seed — they sold for nearly ten gold pieces each. He tried to calculate how many plants five hectares of Wolf Seed would produce, roughly calculating he estimated that each hectare would produce roughly twenty-five thousand plants, that was over one hundred and twenty-five thousand plants at ten gold pieces each.

When he worked out that just the Wolf Seed was valued at over one million two hundred thousand gold pieces, he gulped loudly. If Tardide sold all their crops to the Merchants' Guild the value of their crop would be over twenty million gold pieces. No wonder Jayde had mentioned that the villagers had a more lucrative deal to offer them.

With those herbs, Oldstrand would become the leading supplier of the most sort after herbs in Telia. Even the warlord would be hesitant to cause trouble for them. Forget about them approaching the Mages' Guild to seek a trade deal, just for the herbs alone, the Mages' Guild would approach Oldstrand to offer them an alliance.

President Andillevé could feel his knees trembling from excitement, if he could tie Tardide to an exclusive deal, this would be the largest and most lucrative deal he had ever negotiated.

Counsellor Andillevé who had faced the most vicious warlords, without betraying a hint of nervousness while he negotiated numerous peace deals had to hide his shaking hands in his sleeves. He had thought that the charcoal was a big deal, but compared to the herbs Jayde had just mentioned, it was peanuts.

"A..a-nd you would willing to sign an exclusive deal with the Merchants' guild to distribute your herbs?" Counsellor Andillevé asked tentatively, his voice stuttering slightly betraying his nervousness.

"Of course, if the terms are acceptable — but there is one more item that we would like to offer the Merchants' Guild which would change the face of Telia," she said smiling slightly.

When President Andillevé heard that Tardide would be willing to give the Merchants' Guild the exclusive right to distribute their herbs, his heart nearly jumped out of his chest in excitement, but when he heard Jayde mention that there was another item they wanted to offer the Merchants' Guild he could barely sit still. He wasn't quite sure if his poor heart could take any more excitement.

Elder Ryunzo was surprised that Jayde brought up the herbs and was about to mention the mechanical plow, but he trusted her as he knew that Jayde only had the best interest of the villagers in her heart, so he sat quietly and allowed her to negotiate with President Andillevé.

"The village of Tardide has come up with a mechanical plow, which can plow eighty hectares of land in a week — and more importantly it only requires two to three people and a couple of Bildeson to operate," Jayde said calmly.

"We are also working on a harvester, which will be able to harvest wheat and grass within the same period of time."

Elder Ryunzo quickly looked down to cover his surprise of Jayde announcement of the harvester, as he had no idea about it, but if Jayde said she could design a harvester, then he was willing to bet that she could deliver.

President Andillevé and Counsellor Andillevé were struck mute by Jayde bombshell. A device that could plow eighty hectares of land within a week, which only required two or three people was mind-boggling. Jayde was a hundred percent right, something like that would change the face of Telia.

"You have these — what did you call them — mechanical plows working in Tardide?" Counsellor Andillevé asked excitedly.

Thinking about it now it made sense how Tardide could plant some many hectares of herbs if they had such a miraculous machine.

"Of course, you and President Andillevé are more than welcome to visit Tardide to see first hand how our plow works," Jayde said.

"And you would offer us this technology?" President Andillevé inquired.

"Well of course, if you would agree to our terms" Jayde offered.
