If it was not for the Jiang family wanting to gain higher connections via the Yan family, a misfortune such as Jiang Changdai would not have entered the doors of the Yan family.
The Yan family hated the Jiang family for this as well.
“Besides, she still has Lu Zhenting and his son! If they took care of her, my mum would probably be so happy.”
Yan Zhiqing lowered her eyes and looked at her arm in the cast. Then she turned her gaze towards her immobile leg, which was also in a cast. There was a sarcastic glint in her eyes as she continued, “As for me, I would like to be filial to her, of course. However, I still need someone to take care of me in this condition, so that puts me out of the equation. There’s nothing much I can do about it. All I can do is wish her all the best and hope she recovers soon. That’s the best I can do and that should be enough.”
Old Lady Yan had not expected Yan Zhiqing to be so understanding about the situation. She was stunned as she nodded and did not say anything more.
Yan Beicheng looked at her and said, “I will get the hospital to contact Lu Zhenting and Lu Zhenghang. I think Miss Jiang would be most willing to let that pair of father and son take care of her. She would be happy when she wakes up and sees both of them. It would probably help lessen her pain.”
Lin Chu did not know what Yan Beicheng was thinking, but she felt he was planning something big for them.
Yan Zhiqing did not suspect anything and nodded in agreement.
“I’ll ask the doctor when Zhiqing can be discharged,” said Yu Zi.
Old Lady Yan could see the Yan Zhiqing did not express any unhappiness over their decisions. Yan Zhiqing seemed to be sincere about her agreement. So, Old Lady Yan said, “When Zhiqing gets discharged, I and your grandpa will move back home and have Zhiqing stay with us. Xiao Chen will be there to help. Even if Zhiqing is discharged, it would take a few months for her leg to get well. She can’t very well stay for a few months in the hospital.”
Old Lady Yan saw that Lin Chu was about to invite all of them to stay in Sheng Town together. Before Lin Chu could say a word, Old Lady Yan quickly said, “You’re pregnant right now. It would not be convenient to live in a noisy environment. It would be okay if it was just me and grandpa, but it would be too much with Zhiqing as she needs to be taken care of. One pregnant woman and one wounded person living together would be such a torture for both of you. We know you mean well. We’ll wait until Zhiqing gets better, then we’ll come over to visit you. By that time, you probably would have already given birth. We’ll be in time to see the baby.”
Yan Zhiqing snorted, “I don’t want to live at your place, anyway.”
Lin Chu though that it was just as well that Yan Zhiqing could not move her neck, otherwise, Yan Zhiqing would have lifted her nose arrogantly.
Not long after, Yu Zi returned with the doctor behind her.
It could be because this involved the Yan family. The doctor came over personally to explain Yan Zhiqing’s condition to them.
This doctor was not the one who handled Yan Zhiqing’s surgery. He looked between 35 to 36-years-old and had a gentle demeanor. There was a young doctor following behind who looked about 25 to 26-years-old. He must have just graduated from medical school and was here as a houseman for the older doctor.
Lin Chu had not seen both doctors before. However, it was not that she visited Chu Tian Hospital often hence it was only natural that she did not know every person in the big hospital. These two doctors were pretty good-looking.
The mentor looked mature and gentle while the intern had a sunny personality and was a handsome fellow. They were a sight for sore eyes.
Yan Beicheng, however, raised his eyebrow at the doctor.
“Miss Yan’s attending doctor is on leave today. I’ll be temporarily in charge of his patients today,” said the doctor.
Lin Chu glanced at the name tag on his white coat. It read ‘Yue Jingchen’. The intern behind him was named Feng Jinsu.
Yue Jingchen had brought along Yan Zhiqing’s patient record. He said, “Miss Yan is doing well in recuperation. Theoretically, she is only allowed to be discharged after the wound on her back is healed. It would be more convenient to take care of it in the hospital as it would be more troublesome to care for the wound on her back at home. Other than that, as her left hand is fractured and bandaged, she would have trouble with it. She won’t be able to push the wheel on her wheelchair if she is at home. It’s quite inconvenient at home. You would need to consider if you can overcome all these matters when she discharges after her back heals. As for Miss Yan’s overall health condition, there is not much of a problem.”
Old Lady Yan nodded. She turned to Yan Zhiqing and asked, “Zhiqing, what do you think? I feel that it’s not as comfortable in the hospital for you. If you’re willing to be discharged after your back heals, we can hire professional help and take care of you at home until you get better. You’ll be taken care of nicely. It would be better than having not much room to move around in the hospital.”
Yan Zhiqing’s eyes brightened. She was obviously very taken with the idea, but when everyone looked at her, she immediately pressed her lips tight. She cleared her throat and said, “I think that works. Since… Since grandma has already voiced out, it won’t be nice of me to reject.”
To be clear, she did not request for it!
“Great, then we’ll decide so,” Old Lady Yan banged the table in agreement. It was going to be fun living with Yan Zhiqing. The house would not feel so lonely anymore. She could tease Yan Zhiqing for once in a while.
“What’s with the crowd?” A cold voice was suddenly heard at the door.
Everyone turned to look. It was Yan Huaian. For some reason, he had a strange expression on his face.
He glanced at Yue Jingchen and walked in. He stood beside Yu Zi and lowered his head to look Yan Ningbai, who was standing nearby. He waved Yan Ningbai over with a pleased expression and said gently, “Come here, let your dad have a look at you.”
His tone gave everyone a chill. They had never heard Yan Huaian talk to Yan Ningbai this way before.
Even Yan Ningbai trembled slightly. He almost threw up the jelly he had just eaten.
He looked suspiciously at Yan Huaian. He stood up straight and went towards Lin Chu instead. “Dad, I’ve been obedient recently. I haven’t been causing any trouble and I’ve also passed the exams. The teacher didn’t tell me she’d be complaining to the parents!”
Yan Ningbai stamped the floor angrily, “Where’s the sincerity and trust among people now? It’s no fun playing these backstabbing games!”

“What are you talking about?!” Yan Huaian glared at Yan Ningbai.
He suddenly thought of something and his tense expression turned gentle. “Come over here. I haven’t seen you for the entire day. I miss you quite a lot. Won’t you come over and kiss your father?”
Yan Ningbai, “…”
Even Lin Chu could not help moving closer to Yan Beicheng to give him a look. ‘Was something wrong with Yan Huaian? Was he okay?’
Yan Beicheng tried to hold in his laughter as he squeezed her hand. He lowered his head to her ears, “Don’t worry. Just watch his act. It’s going to be very entertaining.”
He lowered his eyes. His long eyelashes covered the moving glint in his eyes as he stared at Lin Chu’s fair, clean ears. He could catch the whiff of faint fragrance from her hair and skin.
They used the same brand of shampoo, which smelled of Gardenia. There was another light, sweet fragrance coming from her ears, it was fruity and a little sweet, like cream. It was an indescribable fragrance that was at once, appetizing.
Yan Beicheng could not help it. He swallowed. He no longer cared about Yan Huaian’s antics. His eyes lowered to stare at her luscious ears, and he gave them a quick peck. Her fragrance whirled around it and he took a deep breath as if trying to take in every atom of sweetness that smelled of her.
Lin Chu was already feeling nervous when he came near her. She was starting to feel hot all over. When he gave her that sudden peck, it was all she could do to stop herself from covering her ears and attract attention from the others.
No one seemed to notice what had just happened as they were all occupied with watching Yan Huaian. So, she brazenly glared at Yan Beicheng with an annoyed look.
That look made Yan Beicheng feel weak all over, he felt a passionate fire raging from his abdomen and moving its way up. He held her hand tightly and said, “It’s been a tiring day, I’m looking forward to relaxing when we get home.”
Lin Chu was aware of what he meant. She blushed furiously and wished she could kick him in the leg. He should think about where they were right now. There were so many people around, someone might hear his words if he said it out loud!
Yan Beicheng did not care about being embarrassed at all. All he could see was Lin Chu. He could not help it as he lowered his head to give her another kiss on the ear but stopped when he saw how embarrassed Lin Chu was.
He stared intently at the side of Lin Chu’s face while everyone else was looking at Yan Huaian.
Lin Chu was even more beautiful after she got pregnant. Her skin was fairer and softer than before. There was a healthy shade of pink that shone through her fair skin. She looked healthy and was pretty in any makeup she put on. Her face was slightly rounder, like baby fat, soft and adorable.
Her expression was much gentler, filled with motherly love. It was a charm that could not be described with words.
As for Yan Ningbai, Yan Huaian’s sudden change in tone was making his hair stand. Yan Ningbai rubbed his arms and walked over to Yan Huaian cautiously while Yan Huaian watched him. Yan Huaian suddenly carried him up in his arms.
“Ningbai, you’ve gotten thinner. Have you eaten today? I’ll get mum to make your favorite Cola Chicken Wings when we get home,” Yan Huaian smiled as he said.
Yan Ningbai could not help poking the bear, and said, “Dad, why are you looking at mum when you’re talking to me?”
Yan Huaian, “…”
Yan Huaian secretly pinched his son’s thick, fat, butt. Yan Ningbai’s eyes widened accusingly as he looked at Yan Huaian with anger.
Yan Huaian then smiled as he held Yu Zi’s hand. “She’s my wife. Who else would I be looking at?”
Yu Zi squeezed Yan Huaian’s hand in embarrassment to get him to stop.
Yan Huaian maintained his expression as he carried Yan Ningbai in one hand with his other arm around Yu Zi’s waist. It looked like the perfect picture of a happy family.
Yue Jingchen smiled lightly as he closed the patient’s record and asked, “What else would you like to know?”
Old Lady Yan gave a thought. There was nothing else to ask, so Yue Jingchen said, “Then we’ll take our leave first. Let me know if there are any questions.”
With that, he passed his name card to Old Lady Yan.
Old Lady Yan took it from him as she smiled. After Yue Jingchen and Feng Jinsu left, Old Lady Yan kept the name card happily. “This doctor is not bad. Even though the doctors in Chu Tian Hospital are all good, he is quite detailed and particularly thoughtful.”
Yan Huaian suddenly looked cold as he almost threw Yan Ningbai to the ground and said unfeelingly, “Eat less in the future, do you know how heavy you are?!”
He rubbed his arms as he said so. If Yue Jingchen left a little later, he would not be able to continue carrying this little fatso.
It would have been so embarrassing if that happened!
Yan Ningbai was not prepared to be thrown on the ground by Yan Huaian. He almost fell and was shocked by Yan Huaian’s cold, unfeeling words when he heard them.

Old Master Yan was not about to let her go alone. He did not want Old Lady Yan to return just to show off to him. She might withhold the information from him for fun, so he raised his hands, indicating his willingness to join them.

“Zhiqing, come along with us!” Old Lady Yan turned to her and said.
