Xu Moyan nodded as she gave Wei Zilin a trustful smile before sipping her tea.

Nan Jingheng seemed to be waiting for her answer. However, Xu Moyan went blank for a moment as she placed her cup down, only for Wei Zilin to fill it for her again.

“What suggestion did you make on Weibo?” Xu Moyan asked. She did not understand his question.

“Didn’t you look at your Weibo?” Nan Jingheng asked in a manner which seemed as though he were on friendly terms with Xu Moyan.

The way he acted with her was so naturally familiar that it made Xu Moyan relaxed enough to not be too formal with him.

Xu Moyan could not remember what he was talking about, but she suddenly paused and asked in surprise, “I’ve seen it. Are you talking about the voiceover work you mentioned for ‘Massacre OL’?”

Nan Jingheng nodded vigorously. “That’s it! It’s because we’ve only just developed ‘Massacre OL’, so there’s a lot of potential for it to be grow. For the first half of it, Qi Shaofeng’s girlfriend has yet to appear. We were planning to place her in the sub-game and continue her story with Qi Shaofeng. I was thinking of inviting you to work on the voiceover for her character.”

“I don’t think that’s a good idea. I’m not a professional and my voice is not that great. From what I understand, you’ve invited some big names in the voiceover industry for this game. If you allow someone unprofessional like me to be a part of it, what would happen if I lowered the quality of your game?” Xu Moyan said sincerely as she criticized herself without giving it a second thought.

“Your voice is pretty nice. You just don’t feel that way because you’re used to hearing yourself speak. I really do feel that it’s not bad. If you don’t believe me, you can ask Big Brother Zilin,” Nan Jingheng pointed at Wei Zilin.

Wei Zilin raised his eyebrow as he immediately understood what Nan Jingheng was really trying to say. He must want to promote the game by using the news of Silent Words and Yu Linling being in a relationship. This fit the idea of matching Qi Shaofeng’s voice with his real-life girlfriend and would help promote the game without revealing Xu Moyan’s identity since they would only promote it with Silent Words.

He did not know what Xu Moyan made of this, but one thing was for sure, he could not say that Xu Moyan did not have a nice voice.

Wei Zilin quietly took note of the fact that Nan Jingheng had put him on the spot today. After this, he nodded and said, “I’ve told you before that your voice was not bad. It’s clear and nice to listen to. Take me for example, everyone keeps saying that I sound good, but I’ve gotten so used to my own voice that I don’t feel the same way about it. The same logic applies for you.”

“Is that so?” Xu Moyan cast him a suspicious look. She still did not really believe it.

She was very aware of how she sounded. When she was still in university, she had used a recorder for class and would sometimes record her own words for notes. When she played back the recordings, she did not feel that she sounded particularly nice. It was just a very normal, plain voice.

“It really isn’t that bad. Besides, you shouldn’t think that those voiceover actors really sound that nice. Their voices would have first gone through the post-production process. A voice like Big Brother Zilin’s is really rare. It’s just like those foreign animated films. Most would engage celebrities to work on the voiceover, but if they didn’t announce which characters were played by which celebrities, you would never figure out who played which character. They would use voices dissimilar to their usual selves, and besides utilizing voice techniques, there’s also post-production work involved. Not to mention, the microphones used would affect the voices recorded as well. Finally, the voices will need to be tuned during post-production. Sis-in-law, trust me, you have a great voice. It would be awesome for the game,” explained Nan Jingheng.

Nan Jingheng looked at the silent Wei Zilin before adding, “Besides, this would really help with the promotion of the game. ‘Massacre OL’ has Lin Yi as one of its agents, and they’re in charge of its promotion. This is why Big Brother Zilin will personally handle the voiceover for Qi Shaofeng.”

Xu Moyan looked at Wei Zilin. She was already well-aware of this.

“Husband and wife should work together! Just treat it as you helping Big Brother Zilin with the promotion of the game. Don’t worry, I won’t reveal your true identity. I’ll just let you work on the voiceover as Silent Words. I’ve given it some thought. Big Brother Zilin will do the voiceover work as Yu Linling, and you, Silent Words, will work on the voiceover as the girlfriend of Yu Linling. It works for you as a couple and is a perfect fit. No one knows Big Brother Zilin is Yu Linling and no one will know you are Silent Words. These characters mainly stay in their two-dimensional worlds, but they will definitely recognize your names. This little gimmick with the two of you will no doubt be an awesome promotion for the game,” Nan Jingheng did his best to sell the idea.

He saw that Xu Moyan was slightly moved by him despite her hesitation, so he quickly made a push for it. “You don’t really need to worry too much. Big Brother Zilin is here to help you with your voiceover work. Due to your relationship, it won’t be too much of a hassle, and you won’t be stressed out learning how to do the voiceovers. Moreover, you won’t feel tired at all because you’re a working couple.”

Xu Moyan, “…”

Is that really so?

“To be honest, there isn’t even really that much NPC dialogue in the game. We just need to enter a few sentences into the system. Players can only watch the storyline and listen to the dialogue when they meet the NPC to get their missions. There will be some animations in the script of the sub-game, but not much. However, I’m guessing that if the players know that you’ll be working on the voiceover, they’ll rush to play the game in order to hear your real voice.” Grinned Nan Jingheng.

Nan Jingheng was not lying. With Yu Linling and Silent Words’ fanbase, many of their fans will be in a hurry to play the game in order to hear what Silent Words sounds like. This sub-game can only be accessed at Level 55 and would require the players to put a lot of effort into the game. By extension of this, in order to hear what Xu Moyan sounded like, they would have to reach Level 55.

Xu Moyan secretly took note of Nan Jingheng as a cunning businessman.

“Don’t force her too much,” Wei Zilin voiced out when he saw that Xu Moyan was obviously hesitant and had no confidence in taking up the job.

Even though he really wanted Xu Moyan to work on the voiceover, he did not want to force her into it.

Nan Jingheng poked the sashimi on his plate with a pair of chopsticks. “How can this be considered forcing? Sis-in-law, the main problem with this is: Would you really want another woman to be with Big Brother Zilin in this two-dimensional CP? Even if there is nothing between them, at the end of the day, they will be playing a couple in the game. The online fans will not read too much into it either as all they will do is create a scene in this two-dimensional world and push Big Brother Zilin to be in a CP with another woman. Will you really be happy with that?”

Nan Jingheng finally hit the money by saying this.

She had never thought about it before, but she was also someone that belonged to this two-dimensional world. She knew how online fans were like, and what Nan Jingheng had just told her was a real possibility.

She knew that it would not affect their relationship if Wei Zilin was paired up with someone else in the two-dimensional world. At most, it would just be the other person taking advantage of the opportunity of working with him to make some moves. In this case, she could rest assured that nothing much would happen between him and the other voiceover actor. However, the thought of it still made Xu Moyan uncomfortable.

She turned to look at Wei Zilin. His eyes were lowered as he poured more hot tea for her. Even in this noisy gathering, he had a unique glow to him, quiet and gentle. No matter how noisy the place they were was, his aura always seemed to flow into her heart like a clear stream of spring water.

Xu Moyan did not use to have much hope when she initially had a crush on him. Naturally, she did not feel possessive about him, as he did not even belong to her. However, things were different now. She was much more willing to admit that this man was in her head.

As such, she was not going to let someone even spout nonsense about him being grouped together as a CP with a random woman.

Throughout this, Wei Zilin said nothing and did not push her. He understood Xu Moyan well. He was someone very important to her, and there was nothing she would not agree to after hearing Nan Jingheng say these words.

As he thought about this, Wei Zilin put down the teapot. His dark eyes brightened a little as his lips slowly curved upward.

As expected, Xu Moyan suddenly felt a surge of courageousness and nodded without fear. “Okay, I’ll do it.”

Even Nan Jingheng was tickled by Xu Moyan’s reaction – she was acting as if doing voiceovers was something really difficult.

Wei Zilin filled up a bowl of pumpkin congee for her to whet her appetite. It was a really cold day so she should fill herself with something warm as it would be healthier for her to warm herself up before eating other dishes.

“Don’t worry about it. I have the voiceover equipment at home. I’ll accompany you to work on the recordings when you come over to my house,” Wei Zilin said.

“That’s right. Voiceover work for online games is different from film and television voiceovers, which requires you to match the actors’ lips as well as ensure your emotions can be heard in your words. With online games, you can gauge the character’s emotions on your own and there is no need to sync it up with the actor. You don’t even need to worry about matching the lips of the character since we can solve all this during post-production. As you’ll need to do is record the basic dialogue for me at home. You don’t even need to go into the studio, just do it at home. No one will be staring at you, so you won’t get nervous either,” said Nan Jingheng.

The process did not sound too difficult to Xu Moyan. Thus, she nodded. “Okay. If I don’t do a good job with the voiceover, please do let me.”

“Don’t worry about it. Big Brother Zilin here will help you to get into character. You’ll definitely be able to work on the voiceover with the right emotions,” replied Nan Jingheng.

They talked a little more regarding the deadline to hand in the recordings of the voiceover. This time, ‘Massacre OL’ had added Level 50 to Level 70 to the game. There were new maps, new sub-games and they had even introduced a new profession to the game.

Nan Jingheng had accidentally revealed this that morning. The official website of ‘Massacre OL’ immediately reacted to his announcement and released a new trailer for the game in advance.

According to the plan, the game’s new update was slated to be middle of next month. This was why Xu Moyan had to hand in her recording before the end of this month.

Not to mention, Nan Jingheng did not ask for Xu Moyan to come on board as a favor. He had planned to pay Xu Moyan according to industry standards.

Xu Moyan did not feel comfortable about this as he was Wei Zilin’s friend and all she had to do was record a few sentences.

It was really not much work. Besides, she was not a professional, and if she did a bad job, she would need Nan Jingheng to bear with it. As such, it did not feel nice to ask Nan Jingheng for payment.

“Just say yes to him. Even if you are my girlfriend, I can’t let you be taken advantage of by my friend,” whispered Wei Zilin.
