Xu Moyan looked around the guest room, and it was evident that it was not being used by anyone on a regular basis. There were no decorations, only basic furniture.
When Wei Zilin returned to his bedroom, Xu Moyan did not follow suit. After a while, she saw him carrying a quilt, bed sheets, and some pillows to her. There was even a set of pajamas laid beside the pillows.
“The guest room doesn’t have its own bathroom. The bathroom is on the first door to the left.” Wei Zilin explained as he blinked, and he proceeded to smile, “There’s one in my bedroom as well.”
Xu Moyan paused and almost threw her pajamas at his face.
Her face was embarrassed beyond compare as she glared at him in an annoyed manner. Wei Zilin laughed as he pecked on her lips. “I’m not going to bother you. If there’s anything you need, just let me know. Rest well.”
He left after finishing his sentence.
Xu Moyan closed the door with a blushed face. After calming herself down, she thought about giving Zheng Yuntong a call to tell her she was not going back home today.
However, no matter how she said it, Zheng Yuntong would undoubtedly get the wrong idea.
She fretted over it to the point she caught a slight headache, but she still made the call.
“Moyan.” Zheng Yuntong was quick to pick up her phone.
Xu Moyan found it hard to open her mouth, so she decided to start by asking, “Were you asleep?”
“Not yet. I just reached home a few minutes ago, so I’m cleaning up in the meantime while I wait for you to come back.” Xu Moyan said without the slightest hint of drowsiness in her voice. She was quite obviously not even remotely close to going to sleep.
“You… you don’t have to wait for me. I’m not going home tonight.” Xu Moyan felt her scalp go numb as she said those words aloud.
As expected, Zheng Yuntong’s shrieking voice could be heard from the other side of the line. “What? Whoops… You guys… Hahahahaha. You guys sure are moving really fast. Moyan, that’s fantastic!”
Even though Xu Moyan could not see it, Zheng Yuntong was holding her thumb up into the air.
“…” Xu Moyan knew it would end up like this, so she quickly explained, “That’s not it. I was practicing dubbing, and night fell long before we realized. Afterward, a thunderstorm started, and Wei Zilin wanted to send me back, but it would be too dangerous to drive in that weather. He didn’t feel comfortable with me driving home alone so I ended up deciding to stay the night. I’m sleeping in the guestroom, it’s not what you think this is.”
“Even if you’re staying in the guestroom, you’ll eventually move to the master bedroom.” Zheng Yuntong waved her hands about as she laughed wickedly. “Stop trying to explain yourself. You two are dating now, and this is normal. It’s nothing, it’s really nothing!”
Xu Moyan was lost for words, “…”
There was a feeling that the explanation failed to get through to her.
She stopped trying to explain and asked, “Will you be alright, being all alone at home?”
“No problem. Didn’t I use to live by myself before? I’ll just lock the door, so don’t worry about me.” Zheng Yuntong said when something popped into her mind, “Oh right, you don’t have a change of clothes. How are you going to work tomorrow?”
“He’s going to send me back early tomorrow. I’ll change my clothes before heading to work.” Xu Moyan said as she walked toward the bed to sit on it, whilst talking on the phone with Zheng Yuntong. She could hear the thunderstorm outside and the downpour of rain hitting against the window.
Blinding rays of lightning occasionally shone through the window, making the pitch-black view of the city illuminate for a brief moment before returning to darkness. Followed by the frightening sound of muffled thunder, it made Xu Moyan feel mildly terrified.
After ending the call with Zheng Yuntong, Xu Moyan stared blankly into space as she sat by the bed.
She never imagined ever spending a night in Wei Zilin’s house.
Another clap of thunder was heard, snapping her back into her senses. Once Xu Moyan regained consciousness, she held Wei Zilin’s pajamas in her arms as she walked toward the door.
She opened the door and peaked her head out as she looked left and right. Wei Zilin could not be seen, so he must be in his room.
It felt rather strange. They were under the same roof, yet could not see one another.
She hugged her pajamas and quickly went into the bathroom next door. Once Xu Moyan closed the door, Wei Zilin quietly opened his door and snuck out of his room. He could not help pressing himself onto the door frame and accidentally scratched it a few times.
There was an unbearable weight in his heart, to have the privilege of having Xu Moyan stay the night at his place yet being unable to touch her.
It was not that he did not want to approach her, but he was afraid that if he came face to face with Xu Moyan, he would not be able to help himself.
Xu Moyan swiftly removed her makeup in the bathroom then proceeded to take a quick shower. She only used half the time she typically would if she were at home.
She was constantly reminded that Wei Zilin was there, and it made her uneasy. Even though she knew Wei Zilin would not barge in, there was still inexplicable tension.
She wiped herself dry with a towel before picking up his pajamas.
It was a normal set of men’s pajamas; the cotton fabric was soft and comfortable. The size, however, was far too large for her.
The top was large enough for her to wear it as a dress, and the shoulder stitches almost reached her elbows. After fastening up all the buttons, the collar still hung low as if it were a low-cut shirt.
Xu Moyan could only pull the collar back. The pants were too loose on her, and she had to hold them up as she walked about. Wei Zilin still had not come out, and his bedroom door was shut tight.
Thus, Xu Moyan took the opportunity and trotted back into her room, hastily lifting up the quilt to get under it.
Even though there was heating in the house, the clean quilt was freezing from being exposed to the cool air. Xu Moyan trembled from the unexpected cold and was slowly warmed by the blanket covering her.
Perhaps it was due to the change in her sleeping venue or something else that Xu Moyan was unable to fall asleep.

“Are you scared of the thunder and lightning outside?”

Until today, she would close all the doors at night, and all the lights would be off, except for the ones in her room. This small space of darkness was already the most she could take.
If Zheng Yuntong went on a business trip, she would be all alone at home and would leave the lights on in the bathroom next to her bedroom throughout the night. Otherwise, she would be too scared to step into the dark toilet at night.
Yet now, Wei Zilin standing by the door, and the corridor behind him pitch-black. Wei Zilin’s figure illuminated in the dark due to the lightning from time to time. It was a spine-chilling scene, to say the least.
However, knowing that it was him, Xu Moyan was not the least bit afraid.

She rested on the bed, laying on her stomach, and continued to maintain her posture without the slightest movement. It made her look at bit dim-witted. Then, she tilted her head to look at Wei Zilin who was walking toward her and also proceeded to sit down beside her bed.
Her eyes gradually adapted to the darkness, and she could slowly see Wei Zilin clearer as time went on.
