Sky and the young girl came out of the other side of the tower and stepped into the true core of the forest.
The young girl took it as her job to explain the core of the forest to Sky. "The Core of the Forest is usually protected by the clan mates of the Sky clan. Every Generation, some Clan Mates of Sky clan would come to the EverNight Forest for their Trials, and they would protect the core."
"Usually, the Core of the Forest is divided into equal territories with each Clan Mate who is undergoing Trial protecting one of these Territories ."
"This time it seems like there were seven Clan Mates who are undergoing the Trial, so the Core was divided into seven equal Territories."
"But there seemed to be a problem with the seventh Clan Mate, and the other Six Princesses of the Sky clan took it as their job to protect the Territory of the seventh Clan Mate."
"Since we can't handle the Second and the Third waves of the Great Demon Clan on our own, it would be best to find shelter in one of the other six Princesses Territories."
"Since I am the commander of the Ninth Princess's forces, I advise that we go to the Ninth Princess's territory. My Big sister will protect us from the second and the third waves of the Great Demon Clan."
Sky listened carefully to her explanation, but he shook his head at her suggestion. Go to the Ninth Princess for protection? Sky could never do that.
If he seeked protection from the Ninth Princess, he would be breaking the rules of the Trial, and would be banished from the clan. Sky had recently found out his clan, he did not want to be banished from it once again.
Seeing Sky shake his head, the young girl felt some disappointment. She had wanted Sky to be with her while she commanded her forces against the Second and Third waves, but seeing Sky's reaction, she knew that her plan was spoiled.
"Do you prefer the Fifth Princess's territory then? She is the strongest Clan Mate who is undergoing the Trial right now." The young girl suggested.
But Sky simply shook his head. For him, there was no difference between the Ninth Princess and the Fifth Princess. Taking shelter under both of them would just lead to his banishment from the clan.
"We will go to the Seventh Clan Mate's Territory." Sky declared. He was the seventh Clan Mate after all. It was his Territory to protect in the first place.
Hearing Sky's choice, the young girl relaxed. Since the Seventh Territory was being protected by all the Princesses collectively, the Ninth Princess's forces would also be present. She could command these forces freely in the seventh territory and protect Sky.
"Hmm! Nice choice! We will go to the Seventh Territory then." The young girl hummed happily as she led the way to the seventh territory.
She took out a Sugarcane and gave it to Sky. Sky was helpless as peeled it for her. The young girl happily munched on the sugarcane as she led the way.
Sky's hand started to itch badly. Seeing her being so cute as she ate the Sugarcane, his hand itched to pat her. But he used his willpower to forcefully control his hand.
He had not forgotten her reaction when he first tried to pay her. The look in her eyes which showed that she hid great sadness behind her smile pricked at his heart.
Soon they reached the Seventh Territory. The young girl jumped up happily. She was excited to meet her comrades after a long time of separation.
She even prepared a speech. 'Did you miss your Commander. Ha haa! Obviously you did. Alright, everyone who missed me pay up ten Sugarcanes as fees. Ha haa! What? Ten is too less? Ok! Pay up thousand then. Ha haha hahah hahahaha....' She was lost in her thoughts when Sky shook her.
"What? Is something wrong?" Sky had a grave expression on his face, so she could not help but ask him in concern.
"Look there." Sky pointed in front of her.
The young girl looked at where Sky was pointing. A second later, her expression also turned grave. All she saw before her was a vast 'Empty Land'.
"How can this be? Just a month ago I had seen thousands of tents in this place. How could it be desolate now?" The young girl ran forward, hoping that her eyes were playing a illusion on her. But the reality was cruel, no matter how much she looked, the tents of the armies of the six Princesses were nowhere to be seen.
Sky activated his Dragon Eyes and looked at this empty land. Soon he came to know about what happened here.
"They left a day ago." Sky murmured.
"What?" The young girl did not understand.
Sky took a deep breath to calm himself. "The armies of the six Princesses who were guarding this territory packed up their tents and left, exactly a day ago." He said, his voice turning increasingly bitter.
But the young girl had a even drastic change in her face. "How can this be? How can they evacuate? Who will protect the Seventh Territory if they are gone?" She shouted out. She was really worried right now, and her emotions were in a turmoil.
Hearing her questions, Sky finally understood why the forces of the Six Princesses have evacuated. It was because of him.
Since the original protecter of the Seventh Territory, the seventh member of the Trial was in the territory himself, they no longer had the obligation to protect this territory.
If they still had left an army here, then it would be against the rules of the Trial. They would be helping Sky, if they lent him an army to protect the territory, so they took back their armies.
Sky finally understood. But the answer did not please him. Can he defend a whole territory on his own? Not to mention that he was currently too weak after Ryu had taken away his cultivation.
He sighed heavily and looked towards the young girl. "Little Ninth, it's better you return to the Ninth Princess's territory." He smiled and said.
He did not have any confidence in defending the territory alone, but he would 'not' drag this little girl along with him.
"What? What are you saying? If I leave, you are leaving with me. Why are you speaking as if you want to push me away?" The young girl took out her Sugarcane. She looked as if she was ready to beat Sky up if he tried to shake her off him.
Sky felt warm inside seeing her quick reply. But he still put on a stern face on the outside as he said. "I am the seventh Clan Mate who is undergoing the Trial. It is my duty to protect this place."
"Oh!" The young girl was shocked, but she recovered quickly. "Still, I won't leave until you leave with me." She did not reason with him. She just put on an a tantrum.
"Don't act like this. You are the commander of the Ninth Princess. If you stay back, who will lead your forces?" Sky tried to convince her. Since he was unable to use his duty as an excuse, he used her duty to push her away.
The young girl bit her lips. She was obviously not willing to leave Sky to his death. But, it was a fact that she was the commander of the Ninth Princess's army. Her Big Sister had placed the army in her hands. She could not betray her big sister.
"I.. I will drag you away with me." The young girl gritted her teeth and raised her Sugarcane.
