Life had settled down now that the Grimshades had been dealt with. Jayesh was glad that his wife could now rest easy instead of being haunted by the fear of them coming back and making her lose their child. Because no matter how much she hid it, there was that lingering sense of unease and fear, not so much for herself but for the little life she was carrying.

Even though she no longer needed someone around to feel safe he still kept up his habit of staying with her in the mornings till her best friend arrived. It was nice to get some extra time with his beloved queen and make her feel as special as she was.

Months passed like this and Jayesh was surprised by how much it grew natural seeing Kaldrek and Zylvia flirting with each other whenever they thought no one was looking, and sometimes not even seeming to care who might be looking.

He was glad that forcing that marriage had turned out alright and was even more glad that no that he no longer had to worry about his oldest friend working himself to death he could focus on his own family.

Both Fayre and Zylvia had began to show signs of their pregnancy. Of course Fayre was further along so she showed much more. Every time Jayesh looked at his pregnant wife he felt a swelling of pride that she was carrying his child. That soon they would finally have the child they had longed for.

And then one day, while he was sitting beside of her and talking with her, she suddenly gasped, her hand flying down to touch her abdomen. Seeing her act like she had suddenly experienced a vast amount of pain, Jayesh started panicking. "Is something wrong? Are you okay? Do-"

She interrupted him, pulling him up short, "I think I am going into labor. So yes, do call the doctor."

The next few hours were a blur to the worried king. He was pretty sure he sent for the doctor, and for Zylvia as she arrived even before the doctor did in order to provide her best friend with

comfort.

Zylvia did not have much experience at helping with baby deliveries but she was exactly what Jayesh's wife needed. A comforting familiar face to stand at her side. The doctor would not allow Jayesh in as he seemed to think he was too agitated.

Later, Jayesh would admit that was probably too, but right then all he wanted was to be with his wife and try to soothe her. He paced up and down, unable to stay still as he heard his wife's cries of pain.

"She is going to be alright." Kaldrek looked at him as he spoke in a soft comforting tone. He had come with Zylvia though Jayesh had barely registered it at the time, "She and the child both."

Jayesh merely nodded, he found it hard to speak. But he did take comfort from his friend's words.

Finally after what sounded like forever he heard the cry of a newborn and knew that it was over. A few moments more and Zylvia opened the door, looking a little faint, and told them that they could come in now.

Kaldrek immediately embraced his wife, as she leaned into him in obvious relief. Jayesh ignored them as he went in to see his own wife.

Fayre looked exhausted but she was beaming as the doctor handed her the newly cleaned up child. They had already fixed Fayre up a little so she could see visitors.

She looked up at him brightly, holding up their child, "Meet your son, love."

Jayesh could not describe the way he was feeling. A light feeling went through him as he took his kid looking into the face of the child.

Though the little prince was no longer crying, there was still small whimpers coming from his mouth.

Jayesh fell in love with the little cute boy as soon as he laid eyes on him. He had a few wisps of dark hair, as was common in Carendlian children. His eyes were still scrunched up and closed so he had no real clue as to what color they were. He had a cute little button nose that wrinkled as he whimpered.

"Why is he whimpering?" Jayesh felt worry lance through him.

The doctor shrugged, "Probably hungry. Usually they scream though."

Jayesh sat beside of Fayre propping her up against him as she reached for their kid to try to settle him down. "Little Jaekel…. Isn't he precious?"

The doctor left the room, providing them with privacy so she could give the kid his first meal. Jayesh politely looked away, but answered her, "Yeah, he is. I'm glad we have him."

A few minutes later he grew worried again as even though he now had a full stomach he was still whimpering. It grew somewhat quieter as his mother cuddled him, but it never completely stopped. And whenever he was put down, he began to actively cry again.
