"It can." Xiao Jun replied without even bother to give Qianru further explanation.

"But how?" Qianru wasn't satisfied with Xiao Jun way to answer her. She couldn't see how all of this chaos could help them to return to Azura.

However instead of an explanation, Xiao Jun pulled out a chess board from under the table. "I heard Mo Xuan Fei taught you how to play this." His eyes flickered with something unpleasant that overlooked by Qianru.

She didn't really understand with this sudden changed of topic, but nodded anyway. "Yes."

"Play with me." Xiao Jun ignored the confusion in her eyes as he started to place all the pieces to the right spot. "I want to see what you learnt from him."

"Jun." Qianru caught Xiao Jun's hand, which busy with the pieces of chess, she wanted him to focus on her question. "You not answer my question yet."

Xiao Jun swiftly grasped Qianru's hand and opened her palm before he put the Queen. "First lesson from me; observe from different sides." He said with a deep meaning.

This was indeed first lesson for her to learn how important to think from various point of view and considered all the possibility of mishap when one was planning a scheme.

On the other hand, Qianru tilted her head with her eyebrows locked together, she remembered that Xiao Jun said she needed learn more about their situation.

Is it his way to teach her?

Qianru still wanted to pursue his explanation, but bit back her argumentation.

Fine, if Xiao Jun wanted her to learn in this way, then she should think this matter thoroughly before she posed another question.

Qianru put the Queen beside the King on the chess board and since she got black pieces, she needed to wait for Xiao Jun to make his first move.

"I had just played for two rounds with Prince Mo Xuan Fei." Qianru mumbled while looking at the chess board absentmindedly, trying to recall what Mo Xuan Fei had taught her for that short time.

Without her knowing, Xiao Jun's lips purse tightly when he heard Qianru called his name as if they were a friend. Ignoring his unreasonable irritation, Xiao Jun made the first move.

Their journey to the black market was still long, if there wasn't any trouble, they would arrive there before the sun set, that was mean they still had hours to spend inside the carriage.

Qianru needed long time to think her moves longer than Xiao Jun, especially when all of her pieces had scattered on the chess board, in an unorganized way.

Actually, Xiao Jun could end the game since the third step when they played, however he wanted to see what his woman had learnt from another man.

He was quite irritated by the fact it was Mo Xuan fei who had taught her first about this game.

All this time, it was always he, who introduced her with new things. Actually it was always her and Xiao Tianyao, the first two people who he would be looking for if he had something that they had never seen.

And as the time fled by he had gotten use to see how her tiny face gleamed with adoration with all the things that he showed her for the first time.

"Legal trap?" Xiao Jun recognized Qianru's move, a smirk raised on the corner of his lips. He didn't really like this move.

She was actually sacrificing her Queen to threat his King without solid a back up, it more looked like a desperate move.

Xiao Jun moved his King to different spot. "Mo Xuan Fei taught you to sacrifice the versatile Queen?" He looked at Qianru, waiting for her answer.

"Hmm. Not really…" Qianru said with hesitation. "He told me that the fall of the King is the end of the game…"

"So, this is your own decision?"

Qianru looked back at Xiao Jun, still trying to figure out what exactly the meaning of his query. "He taught me to use all the necessary moves to safe the King while topple down the opponent King."

"However…" Xiao Jun moved his rook. "Your move just now was like a desperate move without calculation, you should know which pawn needs to be sacrificed to safe the King."

Qianru moved his Queen to another direction, still chasing after Xiao Jun's King.

"And don't make your move too obvious…" A smile curled on the corner of his lips with his next move. "Checkmate." He said.

Only then Qianru realized Xiao Jun had aimed her King while she was busy finding a way to threaten his.

"Attack is the best defense, however…" Xiao Jun flicked Qianru's king out of the chess board. "You should have an organize plan and solid foundation to do that, or else it will only a naught attempt."

Qianru was slumped her back defeatedly. "Well, I am a beginner… what do you expect?" She said sullenly.

"Actually as a beginner you are quite good." Xiao Jun praised her that lightened her mood slightly. "Chess is a small battle, it could help you to have a better perspective about your personal battles, how to protect your space and you should think before act rashly." Xiao Jun said in calm tone that soothing Qianru's ears.

However, she remembered what Xiao Jun had planned and what he would do. "You said don't act rashly, but how you can put yourself in dangerous spot?" Qianru pointed out his contradictive word. "Your plan now is more than act rashly."

"Actually, it's not how it looks like." Xiao Jun and Qianru started to reorganize the chess pieces for another round.

"What do you mean? Your act now is exactly how it looks like." Qianru insisted stubbornly. The more she thought about it the more annoyed she was.

"Really? Actually, it is exactly like how the way you chase my King earlier." Xiao Jun raised his head and looked at Qianru lovingly. "By chasing my King, you thought you can win the game and I let you to do that, because I want you to focus on that part. The feeling of 'almost' win made you disregarding the other pieces that you think less important and put your guard down."

This time Qianru got white pieces that allowed her to move first, however she didn't make another move, her mind seemingly was somewhere else.

"You meant… it's a decoy?" Qianru whipped her head to stare at Xiao Jun, looking for confirmation. "All of this is a decoy to draw our enemy attention while you aim their weakness?"

"You can be a better player after some training." Xiao Jun answered her ambiguously with indulgent smile etched on his lips.

With that, Xiao Jun and Qianru played another three more rounds before they arrived at a village and Xiao Jun decided for having their lunch there.

Liu Wei efficiently booked one private room for his Master and Mistress at the second floor of the building.

This was the best restaurant in this village, but still lack of splendid touch compared to the restaurant at the capital city.

When all the dishes had served and all the servants had left them alone, Qianru started to do her duty as wife, she prepare the bowl of rice and the chopstick in front of Xiao Jun while the latter smiled thankfully at her.

Qianru was also peeling the shrimp shell and put the meat on Xiao Jun's bowl.

In the past after their marriage, she rarely had this chance as Xiao Jun treated her very formal and very seldom had time to share meal with her.

"You need to eat also." Xiao Jun raised the shrimp with her chopstick in front of Qianru's lips, waiting for her to eat it.

Sheepishly, Qianru bit the shrimp as she couldn't hide her gleeful smile. "I like the way we are now." She said.

Xiao Jun knew what exactly Qianru meant, she didn't mean to accuse him for the way he treated her during their two years of married, she just simply stated what she felt right now.

"I like it too." Xiao Jun replied her unexpectedly.Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com for visiting.

Their eyes met as their lips move upwards, Qianru felt like it was only yesterday that they had married and they were in their vacation instead of in a mission to safe their head.

It was so peaceful and everything seemed so right, even the dust under the light of the sun looked very beautiful as if it has a meaning.

"Jun, had you have a contact with Tianyao?" Qianru remembered her brother- in- law.

Xiao Jun stopped the chopstick mid- air before he resumed to eat again. "No."

"But you keep yourself informed about his condition right?" Qianru found it odd if Xiao Jun didn't do it, he truly cared about his younger brother.

"Not really." Xiao Jun replied curtly. "He is a grown up man now, he has to start to decide what is good or not for himself."

"It didn't sound like you…" Qianru mumbled. "And about the woman with Tianyao…" She trailed off her words as the woman's face came into her eyes.

"What is it?"

"If I can be honest, I don't like that woman… something is off about her." Qianru bit her tongue for voiced out her thought.

No matter what, that woman was someone who Xiao Tianyao had chosen, she didn't have right to judge her.

"She manipulates Tianyao." Xiao Jun said indifferently, but something in his eyes burnt with anger.

"Manipulate him, but how?" Qianru tugged Xiao Jun's sleeves, demanding an explanation.
