Chapter 23 The Deal (Survival Game)

Chang Feng’s eyebrow frowned even higher, and quietly observed the pair of beautiful eyes on this girl. She had dark black hair, fair white skin, not too tall but extremely slim.

The rough materials of the long sleeve shirt and the long pants seemed a bit oversized on her and she looked liked she might be blown away by the wind. Although she had covered her lower portion of her face, Chang Feng could feel that she was a good looking girl but not too pretty to the point whereby she can rely on her looks to make a living.

But when his gaze landed on the two long swords, he was a bit shaken.

Xia Mo noticed that he was stealing a few peeks at her, she squinted her eyes at him and then said,” So have you considered?”

“How much do you want?” Chang Feng relaxed and replied with a hint of displeasure in his tone.

“Half,” Xia Mo put both of her arms in front of her chest, and that beautiful pair of eyes squinted again, if not for her full of aggressive intent in her eyes, she would look seductive with her bewitching eyes.

Chang Feng nearly choked and started to cough twice without giving her face, and then looked straight back at her emotionless eyes. He started to feel goose bumps on his arms and started to slightly rub it and then answered,” Don’t you think it’s a bit too much? My friend, the wind is strong her and you might hurt your tongue in the process.”

Upon hearing that, Xia Mo did not reply immediately and then she removed the cloth that was covering her face, and smiled eerily at Chang Feng,” As a smart guy, you should know what it means to be in the early phrase of DUST.”

Chang Feng was speechless.

————————————————————————————————————————-

In the forest, if a player walked alone, it is usually quiet. But when a group of people travel in the forest, then it would be hard to hide their presence. Even though they tried to make their footsteps as soft as possible, inevitably they still cause an alarm with the surrounding birds.

Chang Feng looked at the birds that flew away from them, and calculated that they have walked for two hours from the starter village. But based on the movements of Liu Huo, it looked like the journey would take a while. Chang Feng felt that it was impulsive on his end to believe what this girl had claimed. What if she was a spy from his enemies? What if she was a liar? He must had gone crazy from fantasying too much about metallic weapons… He got reeled in so quickly from a small bait…

He started to imagine things in his heads.

“One more hour and we will reach our destination. Let’s rest for a while,” Xia Mo said to the others. She had been quiet in the entire journey.

Chang Feng kept his thoughts and waved to his team mates to sit down and rest. However, he sat down next to Xia Mo, as though it was not too much of a deal but alert at the same time.

Xia Mo did not speak a single word and proceeded to enjoy her grilled fish and water. Chang Feng felt that this girl was someone who did not like to converse, other than the few sentences that they exchanged in the starter village, she had not utter a single word after that.

He felt that since they were going to cooperate, communication was the key to achieve good teamwork and also understand each other better.

Chang Feng was a chatty person and he had a masculine and somewhat handsome features, therefore he had no problems getting what he wanted from the girls. But he met his opponent now. No matter how he tried to converse with her, Xia Mo would only reply him with a few words.

After a long conversation, Chang Feng dismissed his idea to continue talking to her. He sighed and decided to take a step back in his approach and just watched every moves of this girl.

To share half of the spoils of war was not a big deal, but he would be at a losing end if he was betrayed.

There were many types of people in the world. Some were born to lead, some were born to assassinate, some were born to communicate with others and some were born to be alone.

Chang Feng was a born leader and after a few days in the starter village, he already had quite a number of admirers, and they tried to form a clan.

Although death in DUST means the end, but it did not mean that everyone had to live by themselves. By being in a clan, one could use it as a “weapon” to attack and defend oneself. After the initial chaos, those who wanted to survive would think of ways to unite with each other for the sake of self-preservation, and this formed the backbone of a clan.

The existence of a clan was an early sign that players would be segregated based on their abilities. It was akin to the society in the real world where there were different classes of people who cooperated due to mutual benefits. But they would also not hesitant to attack the other party in disputes.

Xia Mo noticed how Chang Feng would discuss about various scenarios that might happened while they were travelling. He even had someone took down the notes so that they would be better prepared next time. Although this group consisted of about 20 people, but the division of labour was quite well planned.

She recalled that Chang Feng in her previous life, was one of the ten founders of the players’ alliances. He was forthright and did not dwell too much on the little losses. His personal combat ability was also impressive and he was also righteous in how he handled certain matters, and he had a following with him.

Although he was the weakest in terms of combat out of the ten starting founders, but he was still ranked third out of the ten seats.

In her previous life, she tried to check the birth place of all the founders, but he never expected that she started from the same starter village as Chang Feng. She was unsure if she was able to meet him in this life but heaven gave her the chance.

For this deal, if it was another person, it would not have succeeded. But if the other party was Chang Feng, the possibility of it going through was quite high. And since she did put her bets on the right place, this elevated Xia Mo to a good mood.

There was a gust of wind in the forest, and Xia Mo stopped her footsteps and Chang Feng who was just behind her signaled the rest of the people to stop. She turned her head around and suggested,” Let’s hide first. There will be some patrols around here. If we don’t take care of them now, we might be surrounded later.”
