Fang Zhihan rubbed his big palm on top of Yu Gangan’s head, “Don’t worry, it’s just regular maintenance.”
Like a frightened little animal, Yu Gangan immediately took a step back, “Don’t be so touchy-feely, if people see it, it won’t look too good.”
Fang Zhihan turned and looked around. They had just passed by an old herbal tea shop and the old, friendly shopkeeper was rushing towards them with a smile.
Yu Gangan held back her embarrassment and waved at the old man.
At this moment, Fang Zhihan shoved his hands in his pockets and asked, “Are you really close to these people?”
“I grew up here. However, a few stores were rented out recently. If this was a few years ago, not a single person on this street didn’t know me.” As Yu Gangan spoke, she pointed to a beef noodle store ahead, “That’s Auntie Liu’s noodle shop. They sell the best beef noodles in Baiyang City.”
“Then, you must take me there to try it.”
“Let’s not.” The neighbors were already speculating Yu Gangan’s relationship with Fang Zhihan and gossiping about them, if she was to eat with him at Auntie Liu’s, it would be a little strange.
But, Fang Zhihan ignored her and started walking towards the store.
The small store had a simple layout, but it was clean and tidy. The entrance was on the right where there was a glass cabinet filled with braised chicken feet, tofu and other little side dishes.
As soon as Auntie Liu, the owner of the store, saw Yu Gangan, she immediately smiled, “You’re here Gangan. What would you like today?”
But, just like the other neighbors, her gaze was fixed on Fang Zhihan. He was big, tall, handsome and charming. Not bad at all.
Fang Zhihan nodded his head politely without a word.
Meanwhile, Yu Gangan held back the awkwardness she felt and greeted Auntie Liu before she ordered two bowls of beef noodles.
“Sit, sit, it will be ready soon,” Auntie Liu said with an ambiguous smile. She then headed into the kitchen to personally prepare the noodles.
A little while later, a bowl of hot, steamy beef noodles arrived on the table.
Yellowish noodles were soaked inside a fiery red soup and sitting on top were slices of beef and chili. The color was attractive, the fragrance was overflowing and it made one’s mouth water as it triggered their appetite.
Yu Gangan felt her mouth water as she picked up a pair of chopsticks to eat. But, Fang Zhihan quickly stopped her, “Are you eating spicy food again?”
“It’s almost been a month. It shouldn’t be an issue to eat a little.”
“No, you haven’t fully recovered yet.” Fang Zhihan wouldn’t allow it. So, he pulled the bowl of noodles towards him and said to Auntie Liu, “Can you please bring another bowl that’s not spicy?”
Auntie Liu was a little surprised, but she quickly replied, “OK.”
“The beef noodles don’t taste nice without chili. I know my own body better than anyone, it should be fine to eat a little,” Yu Gangan said as her eyes paused on the chili in the bowl.
Fang Zhihan watched as her mouth watered. He then sandwiched a few noodles and a slice of chili-covered beef between his chopsticks and placed it up to her mouth.
Without thinking too much, Yu Gangan immediately opened her mouth and ate the noodles.
As she ate, she sighed and praised Auntie Liu for making delicious noodles. The beef was tender, fragrant and flavorful, the noodles were soft and bouncy and the entire morsel warmed her stomach. It was perfect for winter.
But, a moment later, her chewing stopped as she watched Fang Zhihan directly place the same pair of chopsticks into his mouth and start eating.
Wasn’t he a clean freak?
Why didn’t he change his chopsticks?
Was this an indirect kiss?!!
