Denaire was awoken from the alarms set by the knights.

"We're being attacked! Defense! Defense! Strengthen defenses now!" someone on her right shouted.

Hiro then came bounding to her. "Denaire, the King brought the entire troop left in the Kingdom. I don't know if we can survive this. They are still too many."

Denaire rose up from her makeshift cot and said, "Hiro, assemble your troops. I'll try push them back just a little, then you can take over."

Hiro held her by the arms, "But Denaire, you're not fully recovered."

"I know! And that's why I'm counting on you all. I know you are more powerful than those three generals left with the King."

Hiro hugged Denaire. "Okay, but please be careful. Don't worry; I'll back you up in no time." Hiro then kissed Denaire's forehead and ran back to his knights.

Denaire faced Zilong, "Zilong are you ready?"

"Master, whenever you command, I'm always ready."

Denaire smiled, "Then, let's go."

Together they both flew to approach the march of King Andrew's people.

"Kiki, are we there yet?" Amon shouted at the bird flying beside his mount, Divina.

"Not yet master, but if we keep up this pace, we'll probably reach there by sundown."

Amon's lips thinned. So many negative thoughts ran in his mind. What if it was too late and everyone was massacred by the Exoshan tyrant? He can't bear to see Denaire's –

Amon shook his head to dispel his thoughts. He can't think of those things, now that so many rely on him to win this, including the Perifaenian knights. It was a good thing they agreed to march now against Exosha. He even didn't know what made them change their minds.

Suddenly, he noticed lightning some distance in front of him. Granny then flew near him.

"Your Highness," she said. "I believe that's the power of the King."

Amon looked at her with doubt. "Lightning? But there's no moon yet!"

"Your Highness, the royal line of the rulers of Exosha has one rare trait – they can summon lightning at will."

Amon's heart sank. If this lightning streak of the King would continue, then he didn't know if they would ever see anyone alive.

"Then we have to move fast. Can you all do that?"

Granny nodded and then she flew to disseminate the Crown Prince's orders. Amon leaned towards Divina's ear, "Divina, can you tell your kin to fly faster?"

Divina neighed, "Yes master."

Denaire panted. She was riding on top of Zilong and Zilong kept absorbing the lightning and fire directed at him. Denaire ordered him to absorb first and release the power later. Since Zilong was connected to her magical life force, she felt the magic filling inside her. She was beginning to feel the strain of having too much, a little more and she felt she's going to burst.

But Denaire didn't show it to her enemies. She could never let them see the dragon's only weakness. She realized that creating something needs to have a weakness before it begins to come to life. All her creations had some, most of these weaknesses are because they easily crumble or destroyed by simple magical elements. But she made Zilong invincible, and she only thought of her life connected to his as the only weakness.

So she smiled mockingly at the King and shouted, "This is all you've got?"

The King's whole body was now filled with rage that his clothes are slowly burning away. He summoned a great lightning; one that Denaire realized was the last straw before she'd let it loose to all of them.

She said to Zilong telepathically, "When you absorb that lightning up to its last tendrils, release all that you have absorbed to them in one long sweep. Make sure you hit the frontlines."

Zilong nodded and waited for the lightning to strike. When it did, Zilong opened its mouth and swallowed everything that the King's rage has provided.

Denaire's own body steamed; blood was now oozing from her ears, nose and mouth. Her visions getting a little blurry, but she willed herself to stay awake to see for herself how they would all fall.

When the King's lightning subsided, Denaire spat, "Now!"

Zilong roared and opened his mouth. A mix of fire and lightning came out of it and it swept the whole legion. Denaire knew that they may have put up a shield against it, but she knew they won't go unharmed. No mere shield can withstand that much power.

When all the power left her, she saw a lot of people lying on the ground. Some had still their arms raised, but their shields were all destroyed, too much holes were seen in it.

And just as Denaire hoped, she heard the shout of her mighty general from below.

"ATTACK!!"
