"Then I will die to protect you." Kyera replied as the clearing came into view. Her heart sank. The crystal at the top of the arch had been smashed. It wouldn't be able to read a teleport stone. They were too bloody smart.

"Kyera…" Kan growled as they came to a stop

Her body shuddered in fear. There had to be a way. Kan took control. "Princesses follow me." Kan demanded as he moved the three girls toward the portal. Be grabbed the arm of the statuesque lady and kissed her hand whispering words in forest tongue that Kyera was too feverish to recognize. The Statue moved aside revealing a hatch below. "Down you go, all three of you. When we find a answer we will get you out."

The three girls obeyed but Melania stopped "Kyera join us. The baby, you have to be protected." She called and Kyera shook her head. Their only chance was if she could somehow figure this out. If they were in there alone, even if she didn't figure it out they had a better chance to survive if Kyera could lead the enemy away.

"Ky, what do you want to do? The three of us may be able to run but I don't think we will get far and it isn't good for the baby." Cora asked turning to face her. Her own face was covered in sweat even where the scales peaked out and glistened against her smooth skin. Kyera shook her head slowly and transformed into a human.

"I think...we only have one choice." Kyera replied looking at the forest. "We have less than five minutes and they will be here. I have to. No matter what happens, when that gate opens you grab my body and run through the gate. Kan… you have to be the last through." Kyera ordered and her guards both looked uneasy.

"Why does this sound like I am not going to like what comes next." Lazren growled and Kyera smiled softly.

"Because none of you are. My body will sustain long enough to bear the baby even if this goes wrong. Look, Kan you have to grab the orb as you go through. It will only stay open a half second longer after that orb is removed. If you drop it, do not go back for it. Your charge then is the baby. Got it?" Kyera demanded and Kan frown deepened. He knew there was no other choice.

"Let's go." He replied and opened the hatch. "You three, as soon as you see that portal gloss run through it." Kan ordered and nodded at Cora. Cora shot him a glare but nodded. She helped get the Princesses into position.

As she did Kyer pulled a spirit orb from her bag and held it to her lips. "Into you I commend my spirit." Kyera whispered before raising her hand and pressing the orb to the crystal indention. A brief white light glowed as the spirit orb drew the power from within her, pure white light swirled with the palest black glowed and the portal leaped to life as her body fell, lifeless. Lazren grabbed her body as the girls ran through the portal. He followed them, Kyera in his arms.

Kan grabbed the edge of the arch and pulled himself up gripping the orb right above him. He managed to unseat it just as the growling, snarling hoard broke into the clearing. He jerked back, his fingers tried to hold tight to the orb, but it fell. In slow motion he watched as the pure pearl fell to the ground and rolled in the grass.

He reached for it again just as a familiar face tried to swipe it away. The beat of leathery wings and a roar of darkness filled the air. Kan saw two dragons land in front of the hoard and gnash their teeth. Suddenly there was a greater threat than the Dark ones had expected. Even their great numbers were no match for twin dragons of thunder lightning's make.

In the confusion tiny shadow shaped like a fox darted between them and the soul orb was gone and so was Kan, as the portal closed leaving the clearing in darkness.
