Carl was very cautious. He could not relax one bit. Who were they meeting? He took out his phone to text Kim. "Only mannerless people text while eating with someone, especially when that someone is your boss." Chamberlain scolded.

Straightaway, he set his phone aside. "You should eat, it's a happy occasion, don't you think?"

"You might poison me," mumbled Carl. His ears reddened when he noticed he said that out loud.

"Do I need to do that to keep you by my side?"

For some reason, it sounded a bit weird to Carl, "When you no longer have a leverage or just to keep me in check." He stated.

"Where is your mind running off to?" Chamberlain laughed. "As long as your feelings remain, do I really loose leverage?

Tell me, are you that fickle? Do you let go easily?"

"That has nothing to do with you." Carl rebutted.

"Eat." He commanded.

Carl picked up his spoon to try the still steaming food. Slowly he began eating, he found it really palatable.

"It's good, right?" Chamberlain grinned.

It appears as long as you do what he says, he would treat you well.

"It's my hotel after all." He praised himself.

Carl only nodded, when he lowered his head, he secretly scoffed.

Chamberlain noticed but he did not point it out, he lightly chuckled at his antics. "You're quite pleasant." He commented in a low voice.

"What?"

"If you scoff, sneer or roll your eyes one more time…"

Carl's dull eyes evaluated him.

"Your eyes…" he did not get to finish his sentence as the door opened, Isabella walked in.

Chamberlain frowned, "Why are you here?"

Isabella's eyes widened. She did not expect to meet Carl. She was only here to inform her brother her father would not be coming.

"Fa.. father said you should proceed. He won't be able to make it." She stuttered, her eyes fixed on Carl.

Chamberlain found it annoying that she was talking to him but her attention was on Carl.

"Get out!"

Carl only glanced at Isabella before he continued eating his food like nothing happened.

"Brother, I haven't eaten." Isabella whined. She was fazed by her brother's order but she was staking her all to find out more about Carl.

"It's rude of you to interrupt and refuse to leave."

"I thought you were alone, I'm sorry," Her eyes almost teary. She knew her brother could not resist it when she did that.

"Fine! You may sit with us." Isabella almost jumped in excitement.

She quickly sat between the two guys. Carl acted like he was invincible whereas Isabella wanted to start a conversation. She had met him before, she was not sure if he would remember.

"Brother, won't you introduce us?"

At that point, Chamberlain knew his sister was interested in Carl, he rubbed his forehead. He was not expecting things to turn out this way.

"He's not someone you should concern yourself with." Chamberlain sounded irritated.

His words reminded Isabella that her marriage would be decided by her father. He probably didn't have any connections, if he did, her brother wouldn't sound that way.

"Oh…" her expression, crestfallen. She picked up the cutlery on the table and began eating quietly.

Chamberlain could not stand seeing his sister like that, he yielded, "His name is Carl Mike, he works for me."

Carl raised his head, his eyes met with Chamberlain's. He wondered why he introduced him with his fake name. Understanding it was not his place to pry, he lowered his head and continued eating.

Well, since he was a Blackwood, Chamberlain did not want her to have hope of getting together with him. If she knew he was from another aristocratic family, she would try to make him convince their father to let them be together and he couldn't say no to her. Besides, Carl loved someone else.

"Nice to meet you," she smiled at Carl. He returned her greeting, "Likewise."

"So, what is your position in the company?" She asked, trying to make conversation.

Carl glanced at Chamberlain. Driver? Assistant? Financial manager? He doesn't really know.

"He's mine." Chamberlain staked his claim.

His statement startled Carl, what did he mean by that? He was definitely not an object. It turned awkward as they both stared at him.

"He's my person, he does whatever I please." He corrected.

"Sure.." she muttered.

Carl cleared his throat, "I'm just a financial manager."

"Really? Who drove here? If I asked you to deliver food in the middle of the night, you wouldn't?"

"Why would you ask me to deliver food at night?"

"Answer the damn question."

Sighing, Carl gritted his teeth before answering, "I'll do as you please." Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.

"You heard him." He smiled curtly.

"Brother, you're acting weird, Isabella said." She didn't peg her brother for one who would argue with his subordinates. Especially arguments laced with sexual innuendos.

"Really? That's his effect on people, I recently found out."

The more her brother spoke, the more shocked Isabella became. If Carl was a lady, she would assume they had a dirty relationship hidden from public eyes. But understanding her kind of family, she sighed in relief, "It couldn't be."

As if reading her thoughts, Chamberlain flicked her head, "That should erase those unnecessary thoughts in your head."

"Brother!" She complained, rubbing her head. Carl only watched from the sidelines.
