Subsequently, Kim dashed to Madam George. A shard of glass had gotten into her right eye. She was not sure where to touch and how to hold her as she was bleeding and glass was protruding from some parts of her body.

Madam George groaned as she patted her face. There were cuts on her face and hands. Hot tears gushed out of her left eye. At the same time, her right eye became blurred as blood streamed down. "Are you okay?" Kim asked in a wobbly voice. Of course Madam George wasn't okay but Kim did not know what else to say. She was surrounded by people groaning in pain. Blood gushing from injuries. Anxiety overcame her. Her body was trembling, while she contemplated on her next cause of action. Luckily, she heard the sound of sirens. Without thinking twice, she dashed out like her life depended on it to call for help.

She stumbled to a police officer breathlessly. "I.. some…" her speech incoherent as she pointed in the direction of the restaurant. Before she could form a comprehensible sentence, the police officer was shot. Kim watched him dropped to the ground. She was next in line as she felt something hit her shoulder.

Her eyes and mouth were agape as she fell. When she touched her shoulder, she winced in pain. She sat on the ground, resting her body against the police car.

Kim did not know how long she sat on the cold ground, blood trickling down her shoulder. She was in so much pain, she was afraid of moving or even making a sound.

The rushing footsteps and the screaming dulled her senses. Somehow, she felt relieved that she was shot. At least this time around, she was one of the injured.. or dead and not merely a passerby who couldn't comprehend the pains of the victims.

Soon her vision blurred.

On the other side of the city, Carl was busy watching the stock market on this computer. The signals were ever fluctuating. Some were moving downward, some stable while some others continued with an upward trend.

The stock of a particular company continued to drop at an alarming rate. He was waiting for it to hit a particular mark before buying them.

He turned to his phone, it was a message from Allen. Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.

After reading the message, he almost dropped his phone. Then he remembered Kim went to the gym, she should be home by now. He quickly minimized the screen and then he dialed her number to confirm.

First ring, second, third, fourth, no answer. "She might be busy." He muttered, trying to assure himself. He dialed her line again. After the third call, he knew something was wrong. Beads of sweat were evident on his face.

"She's fine…" he mumbled as he began hacking to search for her location.

Even though Chamberlain was currently not in the office, the whole incident was related to Stans and their political agenda and Carl was aware of it. Who else would boldly bring in men to the city in order to control them. He couldn't think of any other power.

When he first came to the city, he made sure to find out the major powers in the city and the Stans went against the biggest there was. It was the cause of the first attack after all. Though his men never said who they were. It was his speculation. Apart from the aristocratic family ruling the city, there were numerous gangs crawling the city. His little gang paled in comparison.

Ordinarily, he was not a hard man plus he lacked in managerial skill and experience that was why he made sure not to sell drugs or ammunition or try to kill people. He didn't have the heart for it. Nonetheless, he needed the power. The least he could do was sell information.

Once he saw her location, his face turned deathly pale. His mind was racing for a solution. "She must have gone to the restaurant." He whispered. Realizing this, he rushed out of the company.

When he got the restaurant, at the sight of the shattered class, his heart hammered uncontrollably. His legs did not want to move forward. He stood with wobbly legs as he watched the paramedics administer first aid and carry injured and dead persons to the available ambulance, but he did not have the heart to move forward.

"Move Aside!" An angry voice shouted then shoved him out of the way. Carl stumbled almost falling to the ground.

He did not know why but his legs refused to obey him. He wanted to rush forward but he couldn't feel them. It was like they were glued to the ground.

He willed himself to go forward, once he got inside the restaurant, there was nobody. Just dust, glass and blood. He caught sight of her phone lying on the ground and he confirmed she was indeed here. He fell to the ground.
