Nobody can possibly know what another person thinks. People could say one thing only to mean another. Their actions may not reflect their thoughts.

He himself cannot say what love is, how could she? The closest he had come across love was when his mother was alive. But somehow, he knew what he felt for her was beyond infatuation. It was way beyond how he felt about anything.

She made him feel things others could not. Even though he has had little or no interaction with the opposite sex, he was certain of his feelings for her.

"I can't possibly read your mind, can I? You're the only one who can answer that." Carl said as he withdrew his hands.

Kim bit down on her lips, "I want to stay at home with you,"

He went back to staring at the pond, his thoughts unknown, "Then stay."

"But I…."

He did not let her complete her sentence as he said, "Then go."

He was sure she wanted to give reasons why she should stay in school. Before she started school, they had already debated on this very topic. The only difference is that he did not have an opinion. He would let her decide for herself. Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com for visiting.

"If I go…."

"We're not too far from your school if you're that worried. You can come back on weekends if you want to stay in school or just go from here. Whichever you choose is fine by me." Responded Carl.

"Why don't you just ask me to stay?"

"I don't want to hold you back or control you. You're an adult, you can make those decisions yourself."

She began arguing, "You always made suggestions, now you're just acting irritated."

"You should also remember you said I should not try to control you because we kissed. I promised I wouldn't do that, so I won't try to influence your decision."

After he spoke, Kim stopped speaking, she accepted the fact that she brought this on herself.

"Okay, if we aren't going to be that intimate again, why don't you talk to me? You're the only one…."

"I'm the only one who's available? I remember you have two friends. Sean… never mind." Carl chose to not his jealous show. He did not want Sean close to her the least bit but his mind kept replaying that video.

When she felt the rain drop on her face, she looked at the sky, it was slowly turning dark, the clouds had covered the sun.

"Let's go inside," she suggested.

Carl also took a look at the clouds before moving inside while Kim trailed behind him. He directly went to his room, shutting the door even though he was aware of her presence.

Kim did not have the guts to open the door or ask him to, so she sat on the floor with her back against the door as her eyes watered.

The truth was that she did not understand her feelings for him. May be she only wanted his attention because she was used to it or she loved him, she couldn't tell. All she wanted to do was stay by his side as usual.

She sat on the floor until she fell asleep.

At exactly 6 p.m., the door opened and she fell into his room. Carl frowned upon seeing her, "Why are you here?" He asked.

The fall had woken her from her slumber, "You didn't let me in," she mumbled.

With her head lowered, her tiny voice made her pitiful.

Carl ran his fingers through his hair. He did not understand the situation and what else to do. "You've become clingy," he said.

Kim got up while arranging her clothes. His words cut her deeper than he expected.

"Yes! I'm clingy what is wrong with that? You've made me dependent on you and I can't take it anymore. Stop pushing me away, I don't know what to do. Will you leave me too? Will you also throw me out?" She bawled.

Carl stood, frozen. He did not know what to say, he had never seen her cry like this, it startled him.

"If you want me to leave just say so, then I'll pack up my things."

Before she could say anymore, he embraced her. He held her head to his chest, then he said, "This is your home too, how can I throw you out?"

Tears ran down her face, wetting his shirt but he did not complain. He just wanted her to feel better, "Stop crying, I won't leave you alone, I won't throw you out either, so stop."

His words of comfort only made her cry more. How many times had she been kicked out? She couldn't count. She had moved from one house to another for various reasons, his actions made her fear he was also going to abandon her.

Kim tightened her hands around him. Her eyes were bloodshot and her head ached but she could not stop crying.

She missed him so much, she missed his touch, they made her feel alive. But he wanted to take them away from her after she had gotten used to them.

"Please stop crying… oh God what should I do?" She heard him say.

"I'm sorry, I was wrong please stop crying, I won't push you away again."

He compromised.

Kim raised her head to seek for assurance. When he saw her face and eyes were red, his chest tightened. He did not like it.

Actually, she had grown accustomed to him. Even if she was not sure of her feelings, she didn't want him to ever leave her or stop talking to her. It scared her so much that one day he might leave without coming back or kick her out. She felt if he did that, she would not be able to live.

"I'm. Sorry. too." She said between hiccups. "Please don't abandon me, I'll do whatever you want, don't leave me," as she spoke her body trembled.

Carl was lost for words at her promise. How could she even say she would do anything? It meant she was desperate and he didn't like it.

He held her face with both hands. As he scanned her face, he could only see fear.

Using his thumbs, he wiped her tears, "I love you Kim, how can I bear to leave you? I just thought some distance between us would let you come to terms with your feelings and I can also get over you if need be."
