A week later, both Chamberlain and Lena returned to State B, their new home. She was also going to work at the company for the time being.

Since it was just a cover for the main business the Stans were running in State B, they decided to acquire a few companies then merge them.

A little more money wouldn't hurt.

Just like he said, when he returned, he assigned a team to Carl and an office with more privacy for his team.

The transition from a small firm to a Public Company went smoothly. For a whole month, the employees were tasked and forced to work overtime. The whole process from acquisition, merging and going public was carried out within one month.

They were pressed for time and Carl was not sure what they were up to and why they had to rush the process.

The employees were reshuffled. Some sacked to make way for more capable people while others were retained.

Carl was appointed as the C.F.O of the company, a position he did not want. Still he was thankful for the team given to him, the more capable people he had, the faster he would be done with his job.

How he missed his leisure days with Kim!

Chamberlain remained the C.E.O of the company and Lena the C.O.O.

Within that one month, Carl was too busy with work he hardly had time for Kim so she returned to the campus. Still he made time to call her as much as she could.Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com for visiting.

On a rainy Friday evening, Carl was lazing around the house when the door opened. To his surprise, Kim was back… along with a friend.

He rushed towards her, taking away her bag. "You didn't tell me you were coming."

Seeing her wet, he grew worried, "You were under the rain? What if you catch a cold. Why didn't you call? I would have picked you up."

Isabella was also standing by the door but she was totally ignored by Carl. She understood because her brother would do the same thing.

Still, she felt awkward.

Kim tapped his shoulder in a comforting way, "Don't be a worrywart, it's just a little rain. And we were dropped off, just that there was no umbrella so we ran from the car to the door. Besides, I didn't think you'd be home this early."

Then she turned to Isabella, "Let's go in, don't mind him."

Isabella looked at Carl with eager eyes, "Hi… we meet again."

Carl nodded politely.

After shutting the door, he carried Kim's bag and left Isabella to her device.

"You should go take a warm bath, I'll heat up dinner."

Obviously he was talking to just Kim, acting like he couldn't see Isabella.

Bella did not mind. What mattered was that she was close to her crush.

After Kim told her she was returning home for the weekend, she insisted on tagging along just so she could see Carl.

She had long forgotten her brother's warning.

"Their father wouldn't approve? He loved someone else?" What were those? Moreover, she just wanted to see him. There was no harm in that.

"Thanks, we'll be down shortly." Kim pulled Isabella away.

Carl made his way to the kitchen, he opened the fridge then he brought out one Tupperware after another.

Afterwards, he heated up some food then set the table. At the same time, Isabella arrived.

In order to spend time alone with Carl, she simply changed into new clothes.

Who had time for a bath when you could get closer to your crush?

"How can I help?" She politely asked.

Isabella was someone who was pretty outgoing. She spoke to many people but had few friends.

She knew how to make conversations with people generally. May be because she was used to attending different social gatherings with her family, she got along with people easily.

Whereas, both Carl and Kim were a sharp contrast. He had no friend, spent his time indoors and did not bother to socialize. As for Kim, she was actually pretty talkative but was scared of offending people or attracting fake friends. So she mostly kept to herself.

"You're a guest, you just have to sit."

Isabella spoke calmly, her voice silvery unlike her usual high-pitched tone. "That's not nice, I can't freeload off of you and not do anything to show my gratitude."

Though she appeared calm, inside she was squealing. She was having a conversation with him! How great was that?!

Her day couldn't get any better!

"I'm almost done setting the table and I already heat up the food." The unsuspecting Carl, casually remarked.

He was not a fan of the Stan's but he couldn't treat Isabella poorly, she hadn't done anything wrong to him. So he chose to ignore her if he could.

"Then, I'll get water and glasses." Of course it wasn't a question or suggestion but an affirmative statement as she had already opened the refrigerator to collect water.

No matter how excited she actually was, she acted respectfully and calmly. She did not want to leave a bad impression.

If only she knew her family name was the bad impression.

She placed the three bottles of water on the table before reaching for the cups.

The atmosphere was harmonious she couldn't help but fantasize about their married life.

'How awesome,' she thought.

It took everything in her not to do a happy dance.
