On hearing her, he stopped, however, Chamberlain did not know why he couldn't turn back to look at her.

If anything he did not want to talk about this matter.

He just wanted to pretend he saw absolutely nothing.

He felt a lump in his throat and he thought clearing his throat would make him feel better but it proved otherwise.

His mouth watered instead, he did not know why he felt thirsty all of sudden. He gulped.

His necktie felt extremely uncomfortable, so he tugged at it, waiting for her to say whatever she wanted.

Lena's soft voice flowed into his ears, "Am I that unattractive."

"W-what?" He stuttered.

"We've been married for so long yet you've not looked at me once, Am I inadequate?"

At that moment, Chamberlain really wanted to say it hasn't been that long but he held back.

He did not know how to respond to her.

"Do I disgust you?"

He hurriedly answered, "Of course not!"

He very much understood what she was talking about but he did not know how to assure her because he really wasn't sexually attracted to her.

"Then… why won't you touch me? We don't actually communicate except when necessary, am I a burden to you?" Lena questioned as calmly as she could but her voice was a little shaky.

She was still standing behind him because she was afraid she wouldn't be able to voice her concerns, facing him.

As her head hung low, she awaited his confirmation of her thoughts and suspicions.

She was of the opinion that s-exual intercourse brought couples closer, at least that's what her friends told her.

She couldn't help but think it was what they needed to breach the gap between them.

She has always fancied him and being a little naive about such matters did not make things better.

She was away from her friends and family, though he was her family now, that closeness, that bond was absent.

She felt lost. She had no one to communicate her worries to. She didn't even know whether it was normal or abnormal.

Her friends had told her that men were beasts and could never resist an attractive woman, especially when they were already committed to each other.

Seeing as her own husband turned away from her, she wondered if her body was inadequate, if she was unattractive.

The closest they had come to doing anything intimate was each time they were asked to kiss each. Then again, it was done perfunctorily, and he would quickly draw back, leaving her heart rapidly thumping against her chest.Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.webnovel.com for visiting.

She was a little bit sad that he never took the initiative, he only did it when he was asked to.

Had she failed as a woman?

"You're not a burden to me." He clarified.

Then she posed another question, "Am I really unattractive?"

Chamberlain was tongue-tied.

No matter the answer he gave he couldn't see a way out.

A few seconds passed by without Chamberlain saying anything and Lena felt Her chest tighten.

Sweat trickled down her face as she awaited his answer. She was unsure of why she was sweaty when she just showered besides, the room wasn't hot.

"I guess I really am," she sobbed.

After saying that, she strode away.

Chamberlain was stunned for a moment, then he quickly went after her.

He held her wrist before speaking, "I'm sorry."

She raised her brow, "For what?"

He yielded, "You're not unattractive."

"What then is the problem?" Lena inquired.

"I've always thought of you as my sister… it's difficult seeing you as something more."

Unbelieve clouded her eyes as she stared at him. Thinking back, she's always been told he was going to be her husband and she was sure he was told the same so how could he say that.

She had invested her feelings on him. Her everything was done with him in focus, now he…

She gave a sad smile, she did not want to cry in his presence but her eyes were already itching.

"I'm not Isabella," she stated.

Trying hard to control her emotions, she continued, "I'm a woman, your woman."

Her words stunned Chamberlain even more. He didn't think too much of it.. he had never thought of crossing the line with her.

What then, was he thinking? Did he only assume that they would occasionally hold hands and kiss perfunctorily when it was required of them?

Was that all marriage entailed?

How foolish of him.

Actually, he really didn't think much before barging into their room. He never thought for the life of him, he would get to see her naked or have this conversation with her.

Now he did not know how to appease her. He did not know how to make things normal.

Besides, he couldn't force himself to do anything with her.

Staring at the hand holding her wrist, she said, "Do you know this is the first time you held my hand without being told to…"

With those words she pulled her hands away.

Then she walked away with her head hanging low.

She was just too embarrassed and disappointed she did not know how to face him or what to do about their situation.

While Chamberlain stood frozen in the room, she had gone to make a call.

Her mother was the only one that could help her.

Chamberlain watched her disappear from his sight before falling to the ground.
