How they fell asleep was a mystery to both of them. It took hours of turning and rolling and sometimes cuddling that felt like an eternity. It was not until the early hours of the morning did they finally fall asleep.

It wasn't long when the blare of the alarm clock woke them from their much needed slumber. Chamberlain had given Carl "wedding leave" so he did not have to get up to prepare for work. Not the same could be said for Kim who had school to get to.

She stopped the alarm with a promise to wake up in five minutes. From five minutes to five more minutes and then five hours passed in a blink of an eye.

It was just a little past noon when she woke up, so she decided to stay home with Carl and go to school the next day.

The next day, Carl dropped her off at school with a promise to pick her up after class before heading to his own company. He hadn't been there for a while. Although he oversaw every business and he trusted the brothers, it didn't mean he wouldn't occasionally go check on things himself.

As soon as the last class for the day was over, Kim pulled Sean and Isabella to the cafeteria to have a chat.

She wanted to come clean with them but she had no idea how they'd take to the news. And she couldn't back out of it because she had made a promise to Carl.

Just when she wanted to speak, Isabella's phone rang. "It's my brother, I have to take this call." She excused herself before heading out to take the call while Kim and Sean sat in silence awaiting her return.

Once Isabella returned, there was a frown on her face. Making Kim assume there must be something wrong, "Something wrong?" She asked.

Isabella was not sure what to say, she sighed before grabbing her bag, "I'm sorry but I have to go. Let's talk next time." With those words, she rushed out of the cafeteria leaving Sean and Kim worried.

Since it was her brother who called, they concluded it must be a family emergency and they couldn't butt in unless Isabella wanted them to.

Kim glanced at the very nervous Sean who was drumming his fingers on the table, "I guess I should just tell you what I have to say then," she began.

Truth be told, she was also nervous. She shouldn't have lied previously or let Sean kiss her then things wouldn't be so complicated. Now she felt bad telling them the truth. They were her friends but she lied to them.

"Firstly, about the kiss the other day, I hope you did not interpret my actions wrongly. I was caught off guard and as for the second time, I'm truly at fault, I'm sorry and also thank you."

While she spoke, she maintained eye contact with Sean and for the first time since she knew him, she saw how magnificent his russet eyes were. She could also see the shift in his emotions. However, she understood she had to straighten things out now, for them all.

Sean softly chuckled, but it did not reach his glassy eyes, "Why are you apologizing? I was the one who kissed you and what do you mean by 'thank you'?"

"Sorry because I feel like I used you, led you on and thank you because without you, I might still be in the valley of indecision"

"I don't understand." Actually he did but he was pleading for her not to say those words. She would have let him remain in his bliss.

"I'm saying that perhaps I wouldn't have realized that I only want to be kissed by one guy if you hadn't done that."

By this time, he had stopped drumming his fingers but his right leg wouldn't remain still, "I can't believe I'm saying this but I wish I never did that, maybe you'd eventually be mine."

Now he understands why people say ignorance is bliss.

Kim thought for a while before saying, "I doubt that, I'll repeat what I told you previously, I don't have feelings for you and I never will. There's someone I love already so I can't give you my heart. Truthfully, you've met him before."

She knew her words were harsh but it was the best way for them all. As much as she would like to remain friends with him and joke with him, she didn't want to ruin their friendship. She didn't want to ruin her relationship with Carl.

Sean cannot remain by her side except he no longer has feelings for her. This is because she wouldn't want a girl who has feelings for Carl to always be by his side. Even if she trusts him, she wouldn't feel at peace.

Her last sentence made Sean's mind race, he began thinking about the number of guys in their class she might like, this made him uncomfortable.

Just as he was about asking who it could be, she gave him an answer, shocking him in the process.

"That day at my house, I referred to him as my brother."

If only Carl could see the horror on Sean's face, he would probably do a happy dance, it was his wish after all.

"You're in love with your brother?!" He exclaimed. His eyes were still widened and he couldn't come to terms with her words. "This is incest," he thought.

Immediately, Kim smacked him, "Why are you shouting?"

She noticed people giving them weird looks around and she was more embarrassed than ever. All she wanted to do at that moment was dig a hole and crawl into it. Or even vanish. Perhaps the news of her disappearance might overshadow the news of her liking her brother.

"He's not my biological brother," she clarified after Sean apologized. In his defense, the news was too shocking. Imagine your crush telling you she likes her brother.

"Then is he adopted? Or are you the adopted one?" He inquired.

"Here comes the hard part," she thought.

She shook her head, "Nothing like that."

"Then?"

"It just so happens I call him my brother," she lied.

Sean held his head for a moment, "Let me get this straight, you're cohabiting with a man?"

Kim nodded.

Sean rubbed his face, "To clarify, you live with him." He stated.

When he saw her eyes he knew she wasn't joking besides that day, he had indeed gone upstairs as soon as he arrived. He really wasn't her brother and he wasn't visiting either.
