"I..." He wanted to confess his feelings, he wanted to tell her he loved her and that he needed her but if the kiss scared her, won't his confession push her further away? As he thought of this, he held back his words. "Kim.. what can I do to make you come home?" He inquired again. "Nothing." When he heard her words, he felt she took a hammer and wrecked his heart. His head was aching, his eyes were itching, his ears were ringing, the lump in his throat refused to go down no matter how much he swallowed.

"Then, what's the problem? Let's solve it together." May be it was mental exhaustion, may be it was emotional, may be it was physical, he did not know but he passed out. Kim on the other hand couldn't bring herself to tell him anything. Unknown to her, he passed out, she hung up. Carl stayed motionless on the floor until the next day. When he woke up, he couldn't move his body. Since there was no one else at home, he could only ask Google Assistant to call the ambulance. Twenty minutes later they came in, lifted him up, taking him to the hospital.

On the way to the hospital, he passed out again. Arriving at the hospital, he was placed on drip. The nurse who held his phone couldn't find up to five contacts in his phone, she simply called Kim because he frequently called her. Afterwhich she hurriedly returned to the city. When she saw the state he was in, she was shocked. Her shock did not manage to rouse him or make things better, he had lost weight and his eyes were dark, he looked really pale, like he was barely alive.

As she heard the doctor complain about the state of his body, she blamed herself. If she had been attentive or wasn't in a haste to end the call, may be she  would have found out sooner. Regret was  a hard pill to swallow indeed, she sat next to him thinking why she had gone to Phoenix, leaving him behind. After settling the hospital bills, she went back home to drop her belongings and also pack a bag for him. When she returned, she thought he would certainly wake up in the evening but she became more worried, when he showed to sign of waking up even after three days. She constantly received calls from the brothers and then the trainer. When she saw his phone, she realized that just like her, he had no one. She was the only female contact in his phone.

Tears ran down her face, she wished she wasn't so selfish, but this was only the beginning of her regret. On the fourth day, he finally woke up. He saw her resting by his side, he was glad she returned, somehow he felt the exhaustion he experienced birthed something good. He got up from the bed and took a long shower. When he returned, she was still sleeping. He called for the doctor without waking her up. After listening to medical advice, he ordered for food. He was beyond famished. Only when the food arrived did she wake up.

"You're finally awake." She said in a tired voice. "Sorry for the inconveniences I caused, I know you didn't want to return, but I made you. Thank you." He said without looking at her, "Here." He said, handing her a plate of food. Kim stared at him, dazed He was too scared to look into her eyes so he focused on his food. After everything that happened, he decided to let her go, after all, she didn't want him. She watched him as he ate silently. It was awkward, she felt uncomfortable. "You can go back, I'm better now, so I can take care of myself." He said still focusing on the food before him. Kim was surprised he said that, wasn't he the one asking her to return? Now she was here, he was asking her to leave.

"I'm not going back." She said quietly. "You said..." He didn't complete his sentence, he didn't want to recall unpleasant memories. "Okay." He said nodding his head. A few days ago, he was begging her to return, now she was here, he wasn't looking at her, rather he wanted her to go back, he was simply acting aloof because he did not want to scare her away again besides, he was tired. Though, he felt a lot better, lying on the bed for so long didn't make him any better. The pain had greatly reduced but his muscles were sore.

After spending another day in the hospital, he returned home. She made a lot of food to welcome him, he couldn't help but remember those days when things were not as complicated. After eating, he began working with his laptop. He didn't try to force her to talk to him, start up a conversation or anything like that, all these made her feel the call was only an illusion. But she knew it was her fault so she did not try to push him either. Soon she returned to her work in Madam George's Restaurant.

While he continued his training, they never saw eye to eye. They didn't communicate except when necessary either. So things remained the same between them. He was only glad she was by his side, that was enough, for now.
