The next day, Carl woke up early. He went for a run in a new by park as early as 5 AM before returning home after an hour and thirty minutes. After that, he showered. He was originally pale with dead eyes but his countenance, his aura, everything has changed, including his body and his complexion. He never took notice of these things but seeing his own reflection on the mirror, he was shocked. He, like most guys did not really care about his skin or body. Now he liked what he saw, he couldn't deny it. His training was worth it. He smiled at his reflection, he didn't know his smile was that beautiful, he was in such a good mood. He was briming with energy, he had this deep feeling that today was going to be a good day.

Kim stood by the door watching him check himself out, she chuckled. His smile was so infectious she began smiling too. She had heard that there were people who were infatuated with themselves, she didn't believe it, seeing the smug look on his face, she knew he had become one, seeing is believing, after all. "Stop checking yourself out, narcissism is a disease, you know?" She stated, walking away. He was brought back to reality, he took one final glance at the mirror before walking out, "What could be so wrong with appreciating yourself." He continued smugly. Kim had never seen him like this before. It was the first time she saw him putting up airs. He seemed adorable, she chuckled. "Yeah.. go on, appreciate yourself." She said as she sat on the couch. But she had to admit that he became hot over the short period of time.

The previous day was the first time she saw him shirtless, she had to admit that she liked what she saw even though he was covered in bruises. She had only felt his body when they hugged and she knew he wasn't muscular. She admitted she really wanted to feel his body now it had undergone drastic change. Though he was never fat, his body had improved, it was better than before. Thinking about this, she looked down at her stomach, he was working out, becoming sexier while she was stuffing herself with food. 'He would probably attract more ladies with that body,' she thought. She originally wanted to grab a snack, but with that thought, she decided otherwise. 'Would he still look at me if I stuff myself with food?'

"That's what I'm going to do of course!" He said, smiling foolishly. He did not notice her mood had turned sour. "Snacks?" He asked, wanting to get up when she gave him an evil eye. He halted, "What did I do?" She really wanted to smack him, how could he be that ignorant? She was feeling bad because she had gained weight but he was offering to feed her more. 'You have no conscience,' she thought. She chose to ignore him totally as she turned on the TV. He sat down while he turned to look at her from time to time, hoping to understand why she suddenly got mad at him.

Not long after, they heard a squabble outside. They didn't take it seriously becauseIt was a common occurrence in this district. The next thing that happened took them by surprise. Gun shots were heard. Carl immediately pulled her down from the couch while protecting her underneath him. Kim was so scared she was trembling. He quickly pulled her into his embrace, then he felt an obstruction. He looked down at her stomach and realized why she was mad earlier. He chuckled. Kim immediately hit him, "Why are you laughing in this situation?" Without realizing, she wasn't trembling any more. Wanting to tease her, he began, "I didn't know I would be met with an obstacle." Not understanding, she gave him a confused glance. "Now I know you were jealous earlier." He added while laughing. Realization suddenly struck her, without thinking about the situation, she hit him, "Get off me." Her ears were red in embarrassment, she wished the earth would swallow her up. How could he mock her? Before she could push him again, she heard another gunshot and screaming. She paled.

Without thinking, he held her closer while whispering, "It's going to be fine." Thankfully they were in-doors, what would have happened if they weren't? This thought clouded his mind as he continued whispering to her to calm her down. Not long after, they heard the sound of sirens and more gun shots and then everything quieted down. Carl immediately got up, walking towards the door, when Kim interrupted him, "Don't tell me you're stupid enough to go check it out, this is usually how people end up dead in movies." She said, getting up. "Well, this isn't a movie, I'll be right back." He said unlocking the door. Before he could turn the door handle, she grabbed his arm, "You are not going to check anything out." As he wanted to argue, they heard another gunshot.
