The General was standing outside waiting for them. On seeing Ronnie walk back he suggested, "Sir you can rest for the night here at the camp. By then I'll get things arranged for your travel back to the city from where you can board the plane back to your country."
Ronnie agreed to the General's plan. He instantly agreed and said. "That sounds great General. Also I need to talk to my Assistant first and explain the situation to him. Can I find a telephone anywhere here?"
The General smiled and said, "Thankfully yes sir the telephone lines here have been restored. Let's head over there then."
Though Jayne was with Ronnie for all these days, she never had any idea about Ronnie's background. They never spoke on that. Hence she had no idea about Ronnie's official position, didn't know about his Assistant either. Hence she was left confused.
While walking, she silently whispered to Ronnie. "Do you have an Assistant? Where is he? Where are we going? What was the General talking about boarding the flight?" She asked all of that to him in one breath.
Ronnie's dark brown eyes sparkled with amusement on seeing her confused look. He rubbed her shoulder gently and simply replied with, "We'll talk about it later."
They first walked to the place where they'd stay for the night and Ronnie left Jayne with Da Nuru and his wife. He walked to the General's tent.
It was night here. So considering the time difference, it would still be daytime in London. So Ronnie called on his personal number at his office.
Without his Boss's presence, Ronnie's most trusted, loyal Assistant Daniel West was at his office working double time, sometimes almost round the clock. He had meanwhile searched for the whereabouts of his boss after he suddenly went missing. But in vain. The rains had delayed the relief and rescue operation. But he had a strong instinct that his boss would definitely come back safe and sound and it was mostly a communication mismatch.
He couldn't escalate the issue since it was a part of their job to not to panic at such situations especially grabbing media attention. They always worked behind the scenes. He was silently using his links to trace his boss.
Just like usual, Daniel was working at his office when he got a call connected from India. Any call from India, would always increase his hopes thinking that it would be his boss or any information regarding him. He enthusiastically said, "Hello."
The voice on the other end said, "Hello Dan!"
Daniel was overjoyed to hear his boss, "Boss finally! Where are you? Where were you all these days? Why didn't you contact anyone-" he was left hanging in between by Ronnie.
"Dan Dan Dan slow down, listen to me first. Tomorrow I want you to book my flight tickets back. I'll be boarding the plane from x city y state. Call me back on this number once the tickets are confirmed. And yes, I have a female companion with me. Take care of her immigration and passport paper works since she doesn't have one. Her name is Jayne." Ronnie instructed Daniel.
By then Daniel had regained his composure, "Understood boss!"
"I hope me missing hasn't leaked out to the General public? I don't want anybody coming to the airport to pick us. It has to be just you." Ronnie further continued to instructed Daniel.
"No problem here boss. Everybody thinks you are busy holidaying. And since it's the Christmas season, Prime minister himself has reduced the workload of all the employees." Daniel explained.
"But boss who is this female companion with you?" Daniel couldn't resist asking.
